Hooks hurlers have issued just 66 walks - which currently stands as 4th lowest in the minors. No. 1 is the 18-11 Savannah Sand Gnats, who feature a 3.14 ERA and have struck out 259 batters against 39 walks over 252.0 IP. Four Corpus Christi arms - David Martinez (0.87), Jake Buchanan (1.31), Nick Tropeano (1.91) and Asher Wojciechowski (2.08) rank within the Texas League s top 10 in ERA. Jake Buchanan took home the pitcher honors after recording 8.2 scoreless over 2 appearances. He notched the victory in a start on Tuesday at Whataburger Field, tossing 5 frames of 3-hit ball against the RockHounds. Buchanan did not walk a batter and struck out 4. In Saturday s series opener here in San Antonio, he needed just 23 pitches to record 11 consecutive outs to close out the game. Buchanan, who allowed just 1 fly ball in that outing, features a GO/AO ratio of 2.38. He ranks third in the league in ERA (1.31) and batting average against (.169). Buchanan is averaging 6.12 runners per 9 IP, and 0.72 BB per 9 IP, which ranks No. 1 & 2, respectively among circuit starters. HOT SPRINGS: OF George Springer is locked in. Springer, who was the opening act yesterday of Corpus Christi s first backto-back home run display, currently leads the Minors in long balls (11).
