2 The Photographic Alliance of Great Britain at the UCEA Ellesmere Port Inter-Club PRINT CHAMPIONSHIP Aperture Woolwich P.S. are the 190 th different club to compete at this Championship, the 19 th since its inception in A very warm welcome was given to them and to all of the 37 competing Clubs, especially to the other rookie clubs participating for the very first time - Ayr P.S., Mid Sussex C.C., New Forest C.C., Thurrock C.C. and Sevenoaks C.C. Just qualifying for the Championship is a considerable achievement that many other clubs dream of emulating and Rod even has a personal prize for the Best Rookie! Our thanks are due to everyone who has helped organize this event - not least, the staff at UCEA. In particular our thanks go to PermaJet who continue to Sponsor the Championship and to our insurance brokers,,darwin Clayton (UK) Ltd., who also support this and other events. Thanks also to our other corporate sponsors, most of whom had trade stands on the day with great value show offers. Thanks also to those companies who have generously presented a stack of wonderful raffle prizes. The John Robb Quaich was awarded to the Champion Club The John Robb Quaich is presented in memory of a weel-loved Scottish photographer. A Quaich pronounced, as nearly as a non Scot can manage, kwaik is a shallow bowl, originally made of bone or wood, but now more commonly crafted in pewter. It was used Scottish Highlanders to eat their brose or sup their whisky. Dumfries C.C. has once again donated a bottle so that the winners can properly toast their success. Should the Quaich come into your keeping please don t clean it with silver polish - or anything that might spoil the dram! The Terry Chapman Plate was awarded for the Plate Competition Terry was a tireless and enthusiastic organiser who left his mark on organised amateur photography. We miss him still and this trophy is awarded in his memory. 2
