Located in Switzerland at Mitlödi, on the Linth river, a true centre of excellence for the production and packaging of semi-solid preparations for medicinal use. We are, of course, referring to Grünenthal Pharma AG, previously Protochemie AG, a company established in 1949 for bottling and packaging semi-solid preparations for the pharmaceutical industry. In 1960, the former Protochemie became part of the Grünenthal Group, a German multinational which is a leader in the pharmaceutical sector and employs around 5000 professionals all over the world, with a turnover of almost 700 million euros. It is a prestigious company, always careful not only with the quality and excellence of the medicinal products marketed in more than 80 countries world-wide, but also with the packaging of its products. For this Grünenthal has been working with Marchesini for more than twenty years, recognising the Pianoro-based company s professionalism, expertise and reliability in the pharmaceutical packaging sector. A constantly developing company The modern factory in Mitlödi, which we visited with the manager of the Marchesini Group Suisse MVM subsidiary, Renato Pra Levis, guided by chemical expert Hanspeter Disch, for 25 years head of production at Grünenthal Pharma AG, is state-of-theart in the production of active ingredients p.2 The modern premises of Grünenthal Pharma AG for the pharmaceutical industry. Completely new laboratories have been added to the 2500 square metres of the pharmaceutical factory. Vasquali, quality counting machines since 1956 The company joined the Marchesini Group at the end of 2004, confirming an industrial strategy that aims to offer an increasing number of complete homogeneous lines. We refer to Vasquali, a Milan-based company specialising in counting systems for the pharmaceutical, cosmetics and food sectors. It was officially introduced at the 2004 Open House last October in Pianoro (Bologna) where Maurizio Marchesini, Marchesini Group managing director, repeated the reason for the operation in the Group growth strategy: to develop the supply of pharmaceutical and cosmetics systems covering all areas of the market. Classic tortellini proved very popular, accompanied by strictly Italian fine wines. Not forgetting the famous desserts prepared by chef Giusy, the specialities from chef Riccardo and Massimo Marchesini s walnut liqueur. The numbers speak for themselves: during the seven day exhibition the following were consumed: 100 kg of tortellini, 80 kg of pasta, 40 kg of mascarpone, 630 eggs, 35 kg of mozzarella! p.6 n
