We have a lot of initiatives to forge a better relationship between the Blue Sox, Baseball NSW and it s clubs. In co-operation with Baseball New South Wales, The Blue Sox have put together a number of ways that clubs can fund raise as well as support the Blue Sox. We really want everybody in New South Wales to feel like the Blue Sox are their team. We believe that if the Sydney Blue Sox are successful and young baseball players have super stars to aspire to it will help the entire baseball community to grow and thrive. In this area we are asking for your help. We encourage all baseball club members to come along to two Sydney Blue Sox games during the year and bring a friend who maybe hasn t seen baseball before. From experience we know that people are amazed at how much fun a night at Blue Sox Stadium is. So come on Sydney! Pull your Sox up! 4 Pre-Season 2012 The Sydney Blue Sox are due to open the Australian Baseball Series in Canberra on Friday November 2nd before returning home for the first series at Blue Sox Blacktown International Sportspark on November 9th against the Brisbane Bandits. There are plenty of fantastic events between now and then to get everybody ready for baseball season. The Blue Sox have some of the best volunteers anywhere in Australia and on Saturday October 6th they will be Painting the Town BLUE! To make Blacktown International Sportspark really look like the home of the Blue Sox we will be painting as much of the Stadium blue as we possibly can. This will be a fun family event with a BBQ and some players helping out as well. If you have anybody who is interested in becoming a volunteer for the upcoming season this is a great opportunity to meet the team and be a part of creating something totally unique for NSW only pro baseball team. The Blue Sox First Pre-Season game will take place at Aquatic Reserve against the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles on Saturday the 20th of October. On Sunday the 21st of October, Blue Sox Stadium will play host to the inaugural U9 Blue Sox Cup. A massive T-ball Gala day with 32 teams from across NSW competing on the same field that the Blue Sox play on every week. Every team will have the opportunity to play 5 games with the top 2 teams moving on to play for the Blue Sox Cup. The final will be played at 6:15pm on Saturday the 10th of November, immediately before the Blue Sox play the Brisbane Bandits. Sunday the 21st will also be our FANFEST and Launch party for Blue Sox Members. All members and their family and friends are invited to come along and meet players, take part in fun activities and cheer on the t-ballers as they vie for the Blue Sox Cup. It s sure to be a fun day so don t miss out! The action really gets underway on October 26th in the first game of the Australia Series. To prepare for the 2013 World Baseball Classic, Team Australia is taking on the Sydney Blue Sox in a 3 game series at Blue Sox Blacktown International Sportspark. This is the first time that Team Australia has played in NSW since 2006 and is a spectacle not to be missed. All Bronze, Silver and Gold level Members get a ticket to one of the games during the Australia Series and first opportunity to purchase additional tickets for the remaining games before tickets go on sale to the general public on the 3rd of September. 5 Blue September To raise awareness of Cancer in Men the Sydney Blue Sox have teamed up with Blue September and are asking for your help to raise money for this worthy charity. For the whole month of September a number of ambassadors will be Pulling their Blue Sox up Thats right, where ever they go for the entire month they will be wearing a pair of Blue Sox high in hopes of raising money and awareness of cancer in men. Some Facts about Mens Cancers 1 in 2 men will be diagnosed with cancer by the age of 85 1 in 4 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer by the age of 85 20% more men are diagnosed with cancer than women More than 50,000 men are diagnosed each year and almost half of these men will die from it Blue September raises awareness about cancers that affect thousands of Australian men each year, which may be preventable through lifestyle choices. Funds raised will assist Blue September (The Big Health Foundation Ltd) in their continuing efforts to increase awareness of cancer in men, whilst supporting the Australian Cancer Research Foundation and Australian Prostate Cancer Research in funding vital cancer research. 6 Paint the town Blue This will be the 3rd season of the Sydney Blue Sox playing at Blacktown International Sportspark and to make it really feel like Blue Sox Stadium, on October 6th we will be painting the town blue. Every surface we can reach will be painted Blue Sox blue and we are inviting you to be a part of making this stadium our home. This will be a fun filled day with a BBQ and a chance to meet some players, staff, volunteers that make up the Blue Sox family. There will be some fun activities and exclusive benefits for all who are in attendance. This will also be a great opportunity for anybody who is interested in volunteering with the Blue Sox this season to get a taste of whats involved and meet everybody in a fun and laid back environment. The Blue Sox are fortunate to have a hard working, friendly and dedicated group of volunteers that make each game possible. From helping in the car park, the box office and shop to ushering, serving drinks in the bar and running the on field games. There is just no way any of the action on the field could take place without fantastic group of baseball loving people. We are always looking to add to our volunteer family. If you want to a part of the Blue Sox team we can find something that will suit you and you ll get to see some baseball as well. 7 We would like to invite 32 T-Ball Teams to compete in the inaugural Sydney Blue Sox Cup No entry fee required. Each team will play a minimum of (5) 40 minutes games on the day & they will play on the big boys diamonds so they can experience what it is like to play on Blue Sox Stadium. Sydney Blue Sox players will be in attendance to roam amongst the teams giving tips and encouragement to all players. They will be available for autographs and photos throughout the day. All participants will receive a Sydney Blue Sox Certificate of participation which will have free tickets to upcoming Blue Sox games this season and a pack of baseball cards. The two teams who will eventually make it to the final will be asked back to play a full game on the first Saturday night game of the Blue Sox season on November 10th, starting at 6.00pm and play to 7.15pm. The Blue Sox players will be asked to do their warm-ups on the alternative diamonds to give centre stage to the Under 9 Tee ballers, and who knows this may even be televised. All players who participate in the U9 Blue Sox Cup have the option to come along in their baseball BNS W uniform on Saturday the 10th or the Sunday 11th of November. They can go onto the field during the national anthem, standing with their favourite Blue Sox players. Each club team coming can earn their club 1000 points in the Blue Sox rewards program. The winner of the Cup will receive 4000 points for their club in our rewards program and the runner-up will receive 2000 points. All our concessions stands will be open and serving food and beverages similar to any Blue Sox games. All Blue Sox members can come and collect their season tickets and their membership packs. This will also serve as our Members Launch party, where all members can meet players and enjoy a fun atmosphere at Blue Sox stadium with batting tunnels up and fun activities for all fans attending. 9 2013 ABL 21 DAY WEST COAST MAJOR LEAGUE BALL PARK TOUR After the success of the 2012 Blue Sox 21-Day USA tour, The ABL in association with DELTA Air Lines expanding is the scope to include all of Australia. 10 2012 BlueSox Tour Firstly, I think we should acknowledge David Balfour as an outstanding tour host and driver and for doing his very best to accommodate everyone s individual needs on each day of the trip. The mother and daughter raffle winners particularly, benefitted from David s generosity and knowledge in taking the time to explain what was happening at each baseball game. They both left the tour as baseball fans and you will be seeing them both at future Sydney Blue Sox games. Other tourists commented I have never had so much fun or laughed as hard as I did on this tour. We have made some friends for life and I am so grateful for this. Had the time of my life. The places we visited and the unique experiences we shared will stay with me forever and I thank you all for being part of that. I thanked David, for organising a very hectic schedule, but that was probably one of the best aspects, as we jammed in so much over 21 days. We were afforded a special connection to MLB and to Grant and Travis, something I was looking forward to, and I wasn t disappointed. it was a pleasure to share these experiences with the gang, the memories will last a lifetime! I feel very privileged to have had the opportunity. Some of the funniest moments of the holiday involved the baseball fans at the various ballparks, and the people either in a queue at a theme park or restaurant. They were all most welcoming when we advised we were from Sydney. We got to see some of the biggest and best land marks in the US, we visited Disneyland, Seaworld, Vegas, Alcatraz and Universal Studios, saw Huntington Beach, Santa Monica Pier, Golden Gate Bridge and Hearst Castle and at the same time laughing our way across the US. Some tourists even added a helicopter flight to the Grand Canyon. While some extended their stay by travelling further with USA or Canada. The group photos and videos will help us relive our favorite things for many years to come. 10 Angels Anaheim Padre s Petco San Diego

11 A s Oakland Dodgers Los Angeles We enjoyed Baseball played by the best in the game. Angel s Pujols and Weaver, Yankee s - A-Rod, Jeter,, CC Sabathia and Soriano, Brewer s AJ Ellis and Axford, Dodger s Matt Kemp and Australia s only two Major Leaguers at the time, Oakland A s Grant Balfour and Travis Blackley (they are two great ambassadors for our country and hope they continue to make their mark in the US) We did a lot in the short time we were away, and everyone has their own highlight, but I believe the best aspect of the tour BNS W was being able to combine all of the above with a great bunch of people. 12 Fund Raising Raising the profile of baseball in NSW is mutually beneficial for your club and the Sydney Blue Sox. If Australian Baseball League Stars can inspire young players to start playing or keep playing baseball, then that helps your club and helps the entire baseball community. Baseball NSW and the Sydney Blue Sox want to promote the growth of baseball in NSW and to help you to raise funds so that you feel like the Blue Sox are YOUR team. This year we have 4 ways for you to generate funds for your club, to grow the sport and support the Blue Sox:- 1. Sell tickets in the 2013 ABL 21-Day USA Tour Raffle Each book has 35 $5 per ticket ($175 per book). All prizes are supplied by the ABL. We only ask for $100 back for each fully sold book which means your club keeps $75 per book. If your club sells 10 books that s $750; if you can sell 100 books that is $7,500 with no risk and very little administration. All we ask is that you promote the sale of raffle tickets by your members to all of their networks outside of your club 2. Referral of 2013 ABL 21-Day USA Tour Bookings Each fully paid seat referred by your club earns you valuable rewards points. 6,000 points (Adult) or 5,000 points (Child U12). If your club refers 2 adults = 12,000 points that will greatly assist you reaching larger rewards more quickly. All we ask is that you promote the tour to all of your club members and their networks outside of your club 3. Sell Base Memberships & Refer Season Memberships We have Base Memberships and Season Memberships (Full, Half, Quarter season for Adult, Child or Family). Each $55 annual Base Membership sold by you earns your club a $5 rebate plus a comp GA ticket to Fri or Sun game. If your club sells 50 annual Base Memberships your club receives $250 in rebates plus 50 GA tickets. Each annual Season Membership referred by your club earns you valuable rewards points. All we ask is that you promote both forms of annual memberships to all of your club members and their networks outside of your club 4. Participate in the Blue Sox Rewards Program Each organised group sale ticket sold by you will earn 1 point per dollar spent (minimum group size is 20). Each 2013 ABL USA Tour Raffle book that is returned and fully sold by you will earn 100 points per book. Each referred and fully paid 2013 ABL USA Tour Booking will earn 6,000 points (Adult) or 5,000 points (Child U12). Each fully paid annual Base Membership sold by you will earn 55 points (members will need to link to your club).. Each referred and fully paid annual Season Membership will earn 1 point per dollar spent (members will need to link to your club). 12

13 Rewards Program The Sydney Blue Sox are your team and to say thank you for supporting us in the upcoming season we are proud to introduce the Sydney Blue Sox Rewards Program. By simply registering your club as a participant and coming to games or promoting the Blue Sox in your community you can earn your club some fantastic rewards. How to Participate A club will need to first register as a participant in the Blue Sox Sales Rewards program by providing relevant contact information via the Sydney Blue Sox Sales Office. The club will then be mentioned in any subsequent marketing and results processing. How to Earn points 1. Every group ticket that a club purchases that club will earn per ticket 10 points 2. Every raffle book sold (35 tickets in each club keeps $75) will earn 100 points 3. Every Season ticket sold that club will receive a point per dollar spend ie.if a family buys say a $950 season ticket, the participating club will earn 950 points (current members to nominate their club and the relevant points will be allocated) 4. Every $55 Base Member will earn for their respective club 55 points 5. Every person who has paid to go on the 2013 tour will earn their club 6000 points What you can redeem your point for x General Admission Tickets 1000 points x 1st/3rd Base Line Grandstand Tickets 1500 points x Undercover Main-stand or Ground Level 1st/3rd Base Tickets 2000 points x Behind Home Plate Tickets 3000 points 5. 1 x Behind Home Plate Catered Box (seats 8) with pizza & 2 drinks per person 5000 points 6. 1 x Week Family Holiday at Wollongong Surf & Leisure Resort 8000 points 7. Blue Sox provide a Clinic at the club s ground points BNS W To give an example of how quickly these points can add up:- If an average club has a couple of group bookings during the season that total 200 people and has five families who have purchased a gold membership undercover. The club also sells 100 raffle books between now and February and has two people going on the ABL tour that club would earn points. This is enough to have a fully catered function for 60 people at the Blue Sox Stadium. This could be used as a reward for hard working club members, have tickets raffled off to raise more funds for your club or even sell tickets to the event at your canteen, the choice is entirely up to you. All participants in the Blue Sox Rewards Program will be listed on a leader board at Blue Sox Stadium so you can have bragging rights over your rivals! 13

14 ABL 21-Day USA Raffle After the success of the 2012 Blue Sox 21-Day USA tour, The ABL in association with DELTA Air Lines is expanding the scope of the tour Australia wide. The 2013 ABL 21 Day West Coast Major League Ball Park Tour is a fantastic opportunity for fans to see an incredible amount of Major League Baseball action as well as take in all the sights that the west coast of America has to offer. The tour will take place in late May 2013, the exact dates to be determined by the Major League Baseball schedule for In addition to seats being available to purchase for $5,999, there is the USA Tour Raffle which is a fantastic way for your club to fund raise with some incredible prizes on offer. First prize in the raffle is 2 TICKETS on the 2013 ABL 21-Day USA Ball Park tour worth almost $12,000. That includes flights and accommodation in Anaheim, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Oakland and LAS VEGAS! Tickets to 10 Major League games at 5 stadiums as well as tours of Universal Studios and other theme parks. Have lunch with Australian Major Leaguers Grant Balfour and Travis Blackley among others. As well as lots of other incredible experiences. As if that wasn t enough, 2nd prize is an Oakland Athletics jersey signed by Grant Balfour with 3rd Prize being an Oakland Athletics jersey signed by Travis Blackley. 4th Prize is a home jersey signed by the ABL player of your choice and 5th prize is a road jersey signed by the ABL player of your choice. Prizes 6th-10th are memberships with the ABL team of your choice. (Sydney Blue Sox - Of course) Raffle books are available by calling the Blue Sox on (02) or by ing sales@sydneybluesox.com.au. Each ticket is sold for $5 and there are 35 tickets in each book for a total value of $175. For each book that your club sells we require $100 returned to the Blue Sox. That means that your club makes $75 per book, with no up front payment and very little administration. You can decide how to distribute this money, some clubs may choose keep all of it, others may decide to allow the individual seller to keep a portion of the money as an incentive to sell, it s entirely up to you. All tickets (Sold and Unsold) as well as all money have to be returned to the Blue Sox by the 8th of February and the winners will be drawn at the Baseball Australia Diamond Awards in February of That gives you 5 months to sell as many books as you can. 100 books gives you a fund raising total of $7,500 which could either compliment or completely replace your current fund raising initiatives. Again this is NO MONEY UP-FRONT - ZERO RISK FUND RAISING! Any unsold tickets are simply returned to the Blue Sox so be optimistic. If you need any further information 14

15 Australian Baseball s elite will begin preparations for the upcoming 2013 World Baseball Classic by taking on the Sydney Blue Sox in a special three game Australia Series from October 2012 at Blacktown International Sportspark. Just two weeks out from the Australian Baseball League (ABL) Season Opening Day, the Australia Series will provide an opportunity for the strengthening Blue Sox roster to size up against the Nation s Senior National Team. The series marks the return of the National Team to Sydney for the first time since 2006, when their game sold out in just 48 hours. For Team Australia, the series will be a test of talent, as the team prepares their roster in the lead-up to the 2013 World Baseball Classic. Along with the exciting news of the Australia Series comes a fantastic offer for all Blue Sox Members. The Team Australia Bonus gives a 10 % discount off all Bronze, Silver and Gold Memberships for the ABL Season. In addition to this discount, all Bronze, Silver and Gold Members will receive a FREE TICKET to one game of the Australia Series. Silver Members will also be able to purchase their seat for another game at a 50% discount, while Gold Members can get both additional games at a 50% discount. Members have until the 24th of August to claim their tickets and secure their seats for this historic event. At that time all members will be able to purchase additional tickets to bring along family and friends to share the experience. On September 3rd all remaining tickets will go on sale to the general public. 16 Supporters Pack Professional baseball is unique in that we have six home rounds, playing four days in a row each round. Here in Australia we understand that people cannot commit that kind of time, but they still want to be a part of the Blue Sox. 22 Group Bookings The best way to enjoy a night at the baseball is with a group of friends, colleagues or teammates. Here at the Blue Sox we have a number of options that can make that trip to Blue Sox Stadium a night that you ll never forget. Standard Group With just 20 people you qualify for a group booking and receive a special rate depending on where you would like to sit. You also receive rewards points for your club or organisation. All group bookings receive a mention over the PA during the game and have the opportunity to take part in some on-field activities. We can help with transport arrangements if necessary. T-Ball Sundays Family Sundays are back this year and so is Aussie T-Ball before the game. If you have a team of T-ballers that would like to play on the field at Blue Sox Stadium before any Sunday game all you have to do is call the Blue Sox and organise a group booking. Everybody arrives as gates open at 11:30am and proceed straight onto the field where they can play a game of Aussie T-Ball in front of the arriving crowd at Blue Sox stadium. This is a dream come true for any Baseball mad kid. You get to go down and watch the team take Batting Practice on the field or in the cages.
