1 PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES (20-35) vs ATLANTA BRAVES (24-31) Tuesday, June 6, 2017 SunTrust Park 7:35 p.m. EDT Game 56; Road 30 RHP Aaron Nola (2-3, 5.06) vs LHP Jaime Garcia (2-3, 3.18) LAST NIGHT S ACTION: The Phillies defeated the Atlanta Braves, 11-4, in their first-ever game at Atlanta s SunTrust Park Starter Nick Pivetta (W, 1-2) earned his first major league win, tossing 5.0 innings and allowing 3 runs on 6 hits with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts Philadelphia put up three runs in the first and never looked back as they scored 11 runs, their most since April 8 Odubel Herrera was 3-5, 2 2B, HR, 2 RBI, 3 R while Tommy Joseph and Aaron Altherr each had three hits, 1 HR and 3 RBI The top four spots in the Phillies order were with 3 2B, 3 HR and 10 RBI. CAN T SPELL DOUBLE WITHOUT ODUBEL: Phillies centerfielder Odubel Herrera went 3-for-4 in yesterday s win with two doubles, a home run and two RBI He now has two doubles in three consecutive games (6/3-current), becoming the first Phillie in the modern era (since 1900) to accomplish the feat and the third ML player to do so in the last 20 years (since 1997: Devon Travis this season, Damian Miller in 2006) No player in MLB since 1900 has ever had two doubles in four straight games (Elias) He is the first Phillie since Del Ennis in 1952 to record three extra-base hits in consecutive games, something no MLB player since 1900 has ever done in three straight (Elias) Ennis (1952) was the last Phillie with two doubles and a homer in consecutive games, a feat Travis Hafner (2005) was the last ML player to achieve before Herrera Herrera is also the first Phillie since Johnny Callison in 1966 with multiple extra-base hits in three straight games, something no Phillie has done in four straight since Dolph Camili in 1936 (4) With all eight of his hits this month going for extra-bases, he is the first Phillie since Jayson Werth, 5/6-12/2010, with eight straight extra-base hits per Elias He became the first Phillie since Ryan Howard, 6/18-20/2006 with an extra-base hit in 5 straight at-bats (Elias) Herrera now has 18 doubles this season, most among any ML outfielder and tied for second behind only COL s Nolan Arenado for most in baseball. HOMER HAPPY: A day after clouting a season-high four homers, Philadelphia hit three round-trippers for the eighth time in 2017 In 2016, they hit three or more homers in a game nine times the entire season Prior to the last two games, the Phils had not had seven home runs over a twogame span since 6/18-19/2010 (8 HR in 2 games) A three-homer game tonight would mark the first time the team has hit three or more in three straight games since 6/8-11/2004 It would also be the first time since that 2004 stretch that they had three or more in consecutive road contests. BRAVES BITS: The Phillies have won each of their last four games against the Braves after sweeping Atlanta in a three-game set earlier this season at Citizens Bank Park A win today would give them a five-game win streak against the Braves for the second time in just about a calendar year (5 G from 5/22-7/28/16) after not doing so since an eight-game win streak from 7/10/11-5/1/12 During their four-game win streak vs Atlanta, the Phillies have posted a 2.68 ERA (11 ER, 37.0 IP), held Atlanta to a.195 AVG (26-133) and have outscored them 24-12, rapping out double digit hits three times. ROAD WOES: The Phillies are looking to win back-to-back road games for the first time since 9/5-6/16 at MIA Since then, they are 0-9 in opportunities to win consecutive road games, including an 0-7 record in those situations this season Additionally, they are in search of their first series win away from home since taking two of three from the Mets, 4/18-20 (0-6 since)... That series against the Mets was their only road series win of the season (1-8 overall) Yesterday marked just their second win in in their last 6 first-ever games at an opponents new ballpark (won at Yankee Stadium in 2009, but lost each of their first games at Marlins Park, Target Field, Citi Field and Nationals Park). WHAT A RELIEF: The Phillies bullpen quartet of Luis Garcia (4 ER, 15.1 IP), Hector Neris (3 ER, 13.1 IP), Pat Neshek (2 ER, 13.2 IP) and Edubray Ramos (4 ER, 17.0 IP) have combined for a 1.97 ERA (13 ER, 59.1 IP) with 58 strikeouts over the team s last 33 games (4/30-current).
