Both sides struck for runs in the opening inning and battled back and forth throughout the contest, before the Cardinals came walking back in the eighth. Trailing, 5-4, with the bases loaded and two down, LF Jonathan Rodriguez, 2B Bruce Caldwell and RF Anthony Garcia worked the three consecutive RBI free passes to move the Cards in front. Tulsa struck with an RBI double from RF Alex Verdugo in the top of the ninth, but RHP Kevin Herget retired the final out in the frame and the Cardinals hung on, 7-6. Race to the finish With only 6 games remaining in the 1 st Half, the Cardinals and Drillers continue to battle for the 1 st Half Championship and subsequent guaranteed playoff berth. The Cards are currently with a.563 winning %, just ahead of Tulsa who is with a.556 winning %. Springfield and Tulsa have two more head-to-head match-ups that will close the 1 st Half on Sunday and Monday. Six Cards named All-Stars With the 2016 Texas League All-Star Game, presented by Great Southern Bank, coming up on Tuesday, June 28, the Texas League has announced rosters for the North and South Division Teams. The Cardinals will be represented by six players and their entire field staff, with C Carson Kelly, OF Harrison Bader and DH Luke Voit all named starters. 2B Bruce Caldwell and 3B Paul DeJong will serve as All-Star infield reserves, while RHP Mike Mayers (currently with AAA- Memphis) was also selected to the North roster.
