After the Cards had struck early with an RBI sac fly from C Michael Ohlman in the bottom of the first, the Drillers finally broke through against LHP Jimmy Reed with a pair of runs in the sixth. Reed finished his outing with scoreless seventh, followed by a pair of scoreless innings from LHP Ryan Sherriff to keep it just a one-run game. With one away in the bottom of the ninth, 1B Patrick Wisdom evened it with a solo home run, forcing extra innings. However, the Drillers bounced back with three runs in the top of the 10 th to catapult back in front and take the 5-2 win in 10 frames. Wisdom named Player of the Week For the third straight week, a Springfield Cardinal has taken home a league weekly award, with 3B Patrick Wisdom being named the Texas League Player of the Week for June During seven games on the week, Wisdom went 9x28 (.321) with four home runs and 13 RBIs. He joins RHP Arturo Reyes (6/8 14), RHP Thomas Lee and C Michael Ohlman (both 6/1 7) and Lee (5/4 10) as the Cardinals weekly award winners this year. Among the best in baseball 3B Patrick Wisdom s fantastic week is the latest stretch in what has been a stellar month of June. He is tied for the league lead, tied for 3 rd in Double-A and tied for 7 th in Minor League Baseball with seven homers this month, while leading all of Double-A and ranking 5 th in Minor League Baseball with 21 June RBIs. Ohlman s streak continues C Michael Ohlman extended his season-long hitting streak to 18 games with a base hit on Sunday, going 26x63 (.413) with 5 HRs and 22 RBIs during that stretch. At 18 games, Ohlman has tied the Springfield all-time record for longest hitting streak, which has been accomplished four previous times - Travis Hanson, 8/11/05-8/29/05, Tyler Greene, 7/10/08- Promoted, Tony Cruz, 6/15/10-7/9/10 and Audry Perez 5/30/12-7/2/12.
