Adult On-Line Pre Sale Tickets (Friday): Adult On-Line Pre Sale Tickets (Saturday): 2. GATE PROCEDURES *Up to 25 maximum in the dugout; up to 20 members of the softball team (in uniform) & up to 5 Coaches and or staff. (All Staff will receive wristbands from their Team Host upon arrival at the event.) All participants must be listed on the submitted CIFSSHOME.ORG Roster for free admission and access to the dugout. (Only high school age students and or adults are allowed in the dugout) Complimentary = 5 Adult Tickets Faculty Supervision = 3 Faculty Credential (only one person will present awards on the field) Student/School photographer = 1 Photo Credential *Participants must enter this facility together at main entrance to gain access to the dugout. All team members must enter this stadium with coaching staff (this includes coaches, players, stats and trainer). All individuals entering with the team MUST REMAIN in the dugout throughout the contest. All participants must be on the submitted CIFSSHOME.ORG Roster. 3. BUS DRIVERS Many times, a problem arises because bus drivers come to the admission gate and ask for free admittance. If a participating school wishes to have its bus drivers attend the game, it will be necessary for the school to furnish these people with an adult complimentary ticket. 4. FACULTY SUPERVISION We ask each school to provide a minimum of three faculty supervisors for their respective student sections. Supervisors for the game must report to the stadium well in advance of the starting time to help preserve the integrity of their school s rooting section. Each school is to submit the name of the faculty supervisors in charge, in the event he/she must be paged over the public-address system. Please submit the names of the faculty supervisors to Kim Willeman, (Kimw@cifss.org) on or before the orientation meeting on THURSDAY, May 30, SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHER Each school will be issued one School Photo Credential, which you will receive in your finalist packet.
3 Page 3 Softball Championships - Informational Bulletin 6. CHEERING SECTION: Fan/Student cheering sections are encouraged to cheer and support their own team and should display proper sportsmanship with respect to the opposing team and the game officials. They are expected to follow the following guidelines and failure to do so may lead to removal from the contest and/or forfeiture of the contest. 1. No noisemakers (the use of artificial noisemakers, ball buckets, air horns, horns, cow bells, bells, victory bells, sirens, chimes, wooden blocks, thunder sticks, etc. and electronic amplifiers by student-athletes and team personal is prohibited while on site for competition. For this rule, the field, bullpens and dugouts are on site. Megaphones may only be used by the school s uniformed cheer squads. 2. Cheering devices such as rally towels, pom poms and pennants are acceptable when used within the bounds of good sportsmanship. 3. Face painting is acceptable from the neck up only and shall not include any inappropriate letters or symbols. Assigned school staff shall monitor their cheering sections regarding face painting. 4. It is the expectation that cheering section behavior will be monitored by the assigned staff of the school that they represent. All improper behavior/language should be addressed and corrected immediately by school staff supervisors. 5. Rules are subject to specific event and/or venue limitations. No standing or jumping on the team benches in the dugout. Please do not drag bats against the fencing in the dugout. 7. PEP BAND AND PEP SQUADS Respective schools may bring their pep bands, numbering no more than 12 in the group. As with the rooting section, each school will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the section. Pep bands can play only between innings during the progress of the game. If your school plans to bring their pep band, we must be notified at the orientation meeting on THURSDAY, MAY 30, Pep squads numbering no more than 12 members shall also be admitted free of charge if in uniform and accompanied by an adult supervisor. All other school personnel must pay admission at the ticket window. 8. MEGAPHONES Non-mechanical megaphones only will be allowed if used by Cheerleaders. (No noisemakers of any type will be permitted into the stadium) 9. PETS No pets will be allowed inside the stadium, unless they are documented service animals.
4 Page 4 Softball Championships - Informational Bulletin GAME INFORMATION 1. GAME BALL The Dudley CFP 12YFP NFHS will be the game ball for the championships held at Deanna Manning Colonel Barber Park. 2. **UNIFORMS **The designated home team will wear white or light jerseys for the championship game. The designated visiting team shall wear dark color jerseys for the championship game. Please bring a sample of your light and dark uniform to the championship finalist meeting. 3. USE OF DEANNA MANNING COL. BARBER PARK (IRVINE) Teams competing in the championship game at Deanna Manning Stadium are NOT allowed to work out or practice at Deanna Manning Stadium. 4. WARM-UP FIELDS (will be available 1.5 hours prior to start of schedule game time only) Home teams will use field #2 and Visitor teams will use field #3. See map on page 9. No teams are allowed on the warm-up field without a CIF-SS Staff Host. Restrooms are assessable to the warmup fields. Lineup cards must be in to the team host 45 minutes before the schedule game time. 5. BATTING Competing schools will not be permitted batting practice or fence hitting anywhere on the day of the game prior to the scheduled contest. The only acceptable batting warm-up will be side soft toss. The tosser should be on a knee and directly to the side of the batter. The ball should be lifted, not pitched, to the batter. See flyer page #6 6. INFIELD-OUTFIELD PRACTICE (will start 25 minutes prior to start of game) The visiting team will be called to take the first practice, not to exceed 7 minutes. Make sure your entire teams including all coaches are in the dugout while the opposing team is on the field. Regardless of when the preceding game ends, each team will have a 7-minute warm-up. 7. REFRESHMENTS Schools must bring their own supply of water or other refreshments to their designated dugout area. Gatorade will be suppling each championship team with a sponsor package, which will be in the dugout for your use. Please do not dump the Coach with water at the end of the game!
5 Page 5 Softball Championships - Informational Bulletin 8. ANNOUNCER, SCORER The CIF-SS Office will provide the game announcer and scorer. The following sequence will be utilized when giving team introductions: - Announcer calls visiting team first. Announcer will call non-starters in numerical order (bench) and ask them to line up on first base line. - Announcer will then call out the home team to the third base line calling the non-starters in numerical order (bench). - Announcer will then call out the starting players, by batting order, alternating with each team. These starting players meet at the pitching rubber to shake hands and then return to stand with the rest of their team at 1st or 3rd. If a DP is used that player will be called with the position player. - Coaches will be announced - The National Anthem will be played prior to each game. The CIF-SS office will supply the National Anthem.
6 Page 6 Softball Championships - Informational Bulletin BATTING PRACTICE Includes bunting or slap hitting. Teams entered in the softball playoffs WILL NOT be permitted to take batting practice on the day of the scheduled contest. Batting practice will be construed as any type of pitching motion with ANY type of ball from in front of the batter (Including; pitching machines, underhand tossing, overhand throwing or PEPPER). THE ONLY ACCEPTABLE BATTING WARMUP WILL BE SIDE SOFT TOSS. The tosser should be on a knee and to the side of the batter. The ball should be lifted, not pitched, to the batter. In the 2018 playoffs the use of a Batting T is acceptable during pre-game warm-up only. THE PENALTY FOR BATTING PRACTICE WITH WIFFLE BALL, SOFTBALL, BASEBALL, ETC. MAY BE FORFEITURE OF GAME.
7 Page 7 Softball Championships - Informational Bulletin 8. EXTRA INNING(S) if necessary for a tie score If a game is tied and extra innings played, the game will continue until the tie is broken per National Federation rules or until the tied game in question reaches three hours in duration. No new inning may begin at the end of this three-hour time limit. If the game is still tied at the end of the three-hour time limit, co-champions will be declared. Note: An Injury does not stop the game clock. 9. INCLEMENT WEATHER When games cannot be started due to inclement weather, the game will be postponed until further notice from the Commissioner. If the game is unable to be played on the scheduled day, teams involved will be rescheduled for the next available date (excluding Sunday) at an alternate neutral site obtained by the designated home team. 1) If games are started and then must be called due to inclement weather, the following NFHS rules apply: A) If a game has reached 4 and one-half completed innings, with the Home team ahead, then it is an official game and the result will stand. In other words, the Visiting team has had 5 completed innings at bat and the Home team is ahead in the contest. B) If the game has reached 5 completed innings, with the Visiting team ahead, then it is an official game and the result will stand. In other words, if both teams have had 5 completed innings at bat and the Visiting team is ahead in the contest. C) If a contest has not reached the required number of innings to be an official contest, and the game is called due to inclement weather, then the game is ended at that point. When the teams resume play on their next available date (at the alternate neutral site obtained by the designated home team), the game starts over with no score. Also, no statistics from a game that ends before it is an official contest will be recorded. 10. AWARDS CEREMONY THE AWARDS WILL BE GIVEN OUT IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING EACH CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. The CIF-SS will only provide awards up to 20 per team. We ask that the Principals or person(s) representing the school make their way to the dugout area at the top of the 7 th. inning. Immediately after the game, both teams should shake hands then go in front of their respective dugouts until called by the public-address announcer. At that time, the entire home team is to line up along the third base line and the visiting team along the first base line. All teams will accept awards as follows: a) Announcer announces name of each player. b) Player receives medal or patch, shakes hands, and then returns to her place with the team. c) Player of the game will receive the game ball. d) Coach's name will be announced and he/she will go forward and accept the team trophy. e) Teams will return to dugout after awards ceremony and clear out dugout for next contest. (f) Championship Pictures will be taken directly after the awards ceremony in center field. Only those with proper credentials may be on the field during this time.

PRESS INTERVIEWS The Press will be escorted to the grass area behind the outfield fence where the teams are gathered after the awards ceremony for press interviews. The press may request an athlete for an interview after your team meeting. Please have an adult with that athlete when meeting with the press. 12. PROGRAMS The CIF-SS has created up an electronic program that you may view on your computer, laptop or mobile device. The link for the program can be found by searching the CIFSS.org web site under the Softball sports page or by clicking this direct link: SITE INFORMATION 1. BANNERS AND POSTERS Banners and posters can be hung for the games. Space is limited, so all signs, banners, and posters MUST be removed at the end of the game. Painters tape only is allowed, no duct tape please. 2. BROADCASTS The CIF Southern Section Office retains the right for all audio and video reproduction of any CIF-SS playoff contest. Permission for ANY audio or video reproduction equipment at CIF-SS softball playoffs must be secured in advance from the Commissioner's Office for which a fee will be charged. 3. COOLERS/BEACH CHAIRS No spectators will be allowed to bring Beach Chairs, Ice chest or Coolers into the Softball Stadium. No outside food or drinks are allowed, including hydro flasks, only unopened plastic water bottles are allowed. Please make sure your spectators have this information. 4. DRESSING ROOMS Dressing area is not available. Teams must come dressed for the contest. Restrooms are available near the warmup fields. 5. PARKING There is no parking fee at Deanna manning Col. Barber Park. The parking lot adjacent to the stadium will NOT be available on Friday, June 1. All fans/spectators on Friday should be directed to park in the lot on San Juan & Harvard. Team bus may drop off team near the facilities batting cages. Do not allow the bus to stop in front of the City of Irvine day care facility. Busses will park in a bus only area off Harvard and Barranca. 6. TRAINER A trainer will be on duty until the end of the championships. Schools wishing to utilize the services of the trainer must bring their own tape and supplies.
9 Page 9 Softball Championships - Informational Bulletin MEDIA AND CREDENTIALS INFORMATION 1. PRESS/PHOTO CREDENTIALS Press Pass and Photo Pass will be honored at the championship games. Media credentials do not provide field access. 2. TEAM PHOTO OR VIDEOGRAPHER If you have a photographer or videographer, they must stay on the top of the dugout in the designated photo area provide. One Photo Credential will be included in the coaches finalist packets. 3. CIF-SS COURTESY CARDS The CIF-SS Courtesy Cards will be honored at the championships. Please check in at the entry gate to verify card number and receive entry into the stadium. BROADCAST INFORMATION SATURDAY ONLY VIA: TRAVEL INFORMATION 1. TRAVEL EXPENSES Travel expenses will be set at the allowable maximum of $.45 per mile round trip for either chartered or school transportation. The maximum allowance for private automobile transportation (limit of 3 cars) would be $.15 per mile, per car, round trip. Distances obtained from Map Quest shall be used when available for computing expenses. This subsidy is in concert with the CIF-SS council action which established the amount and has encouraged schools to utilize vans and/or private automobiles when possible in an effort to keep travel allowances at a minimum for the participating schools. Where excessive travel is necessary, arrangements for any meal allowances must be approved in advance with the CIF Southern Section Office. A request verifying travel expenses as outlined must be submitted on school letterhead and signed by the principal. Schools seeking reimbursement for expenses incurred for this championship event should submit a statement of expenses within 10 DAYS after final game to the CIF Southern Section Office directed to the attention of Mike Middlebrook, Assistant Commissioner.
