1 OHIO HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION 4080 Roselea Place, Columbus, Ohio Phone: Fax: Boys District Champion/Regional Qualifier Coach & Administrator Important Memo & Information Please make certain this information is provided to the Athletic Administrator All Required Forms and Information are on the Boys Basketball page at (Sports & Tournaments > Basketball Boys > Tournament Information > Sectional, District & Regional Tournament Information) First, CONGRATULATIONS!! Your win places you in the Sweet 16 and one step closer to everyone s goal a trip to the Schottenstein Center! The extremely short turnaround time between your District Championship and the Regional Semi-Final creates a few very important timelines. Please access the Regional Tournament Information on our Basketball Tournament Information page (listed above) for necessary Regional/State Tournament forms and information. Many sites will NOT be conduct a Regional Tournament Meeting as some have done in past years this is an effort to help coaches and administrators with their planning and practice plans. These meetings were generally held to provide pre-sale tickets, and other arrangements will be made in most cases. There are a few sites that may choose to still do this and they will provide separate contact information for you. Though all required information is located on the Basketball Tournament Information page, there are several items I have chosen to summarize here. Please provide this information to your Athletic Administrator and vice versa should the Athletic Administrator be the one receiving this. If you have questions, please feel free to contact me via at jsnodgrass@ohsaa.org. Best of luck as you enter the Sweet 16 and your assistance in helping make this year s tournament a success is appreciated. Sincerely, Jerry Snodgrass Emily Gates Lauren Prochaska Director of Sport Mgmt. Assistant Director Assistant Director

Official OHSAA Eligibility List Eligibility Lists are no longer required to be submitted. The OHSAA s compliance department monitors and checks the eligibility of all studentathletes in conjunction with the competing schools Athletic Directors.
3 Important Regional Tournament Information Regional Sites Regional Tournament sites are contracted LONG before competing teams are determined. As a result, there may be more travel for one school than another. There may be cases where a team has played a game on that floor. NEITHER are deemed as competitive advantages for a school provided it is not the school s home court. This should be understood entering the Regional Tournament as complaints will not be entertained concerning site selection. Regional sites were approved by the Board of Directors. The OHSAA Director was authorized by the Board of Directors to move individual game sites and/or times when it is deemed necessary. Submission of the Tournament Entry Form is an agreement by your school to abide by these conditions. Sites and manager information are available via the web at and selecting Boys or Girls Basketball from the drop-down menus. Video Exchange At the recommendation of the OHSBCA, the Official Tournament Regulations include the requirement for teams to exchange video of their previous 2 contests. This exchange must occur prior to Sunday evening of the Regional Tournament and teams are responsible for working out the details of their exchange. Admission & Ticket Information Schools will be provided an allotment of tickets from the host site to be pre-sold at your school. Pre-sale tickets are $7.00 per person (adult & student), and all tickets at the door are $8.00. If there is no Sunday meeting by the host site, other arrangements will be made by the site manager to provide you with tickets. Practice Sessions at Regional Sites Any team that has not played a game on the floor of the Regional Tournament site may arrange for one practice session, if possible, with the site manager provided its opponent has played a game on the floor during the tournaments this tournament season. There shall be no expenses allowed for such practice sessions. If neither team has played a game on the floor of the Regional Tournament site during the tournaments there shall be no practice allowed for either team at the site other than the usual pre-game warm-up. Pre-Game Warm-up There will be thirty minutes allowed for warm-up practice at the Regional Tournament. ONLY the 15 (maximum) names entered into the Official Scorebook will be permitted on the floor in the bench area and permitted to participate in warm-up. Pass List Information Chances are, the Regional Pass List is different than the one you used at the Sectional/District level. Fifteen (15) players and seven (7) other personnel will be admitted at the Pass Gate designated by the Regional Site Manager by the Official Pass List downloaded from website. This Pass List will be used at the Pass Gate for all sessions of the tournament. In addition to your Pass List, the Regional Site manager will issue each school the following eight (8) complimentary tickets: Superintendent: 2 Principal: 2 Athletic Administrator: 2 Bus Driver & Additional: 2 (to be used for bus driver and any additional coach/etc.) PLEASE keep in mind that Regional Tournament Participants are provided a Participation Allowance for incidentals. Though this may be used in any manner the school sees fit, the intent is to give schools the opportunity to purchase additional tickets for coaches, administrators, etc. with this allowance.. Cheerleaders Eight varsity plus ONE school approved uniformed mascot, plus one advisor / sponsor will be admitted at the pass gate. Cheerleaders must be supervised with a Board of Education approved advisor/coach, and MUST BE the school recognized cheer group during the regular season, and are permitted on the playing floor only during a time-out, pre-game warm-up and intermissions. Game Officials Game officials for the tournaments have been assigned by the Executive Director s Office. The officials assigned for the tournaments are determined by a combination Rating/Voting system approved by the Board of Directors. Names of the officials will not be announced until game time. Just as in all games and in accordance with NFHS Rules, the decisions and rulings of the officials will be final. Game Balls The Official game ball for all OHSAA Boys tournaments is the Rawlings COMPOHIOCB Physician and Athletic Trainer
4 A physician and an Athletic Trainer will be present during the tournament. Official Scorer & Courtesy Scorers The tournament Site Manager will provide the Official Scorer. The Official Scorer shall wear a black and white striped officials shirt. Each team may provide a courtesy scorer at the scorer s table. Pep Bands Pep bands are not permitted at the Regional Tournament. Signs and Noisemakers The use of signs, school banners, pennants, shakers, balloons, confetti, and noisemakers such as horns, bells, sirens, and drums are NOT PERMITTED. You are asked to emphasize this to students/parents at pep rallies, assemblies, bulletins and announcements in your school.
