15 Communicating with parents/carers from School Travel Adviser about leaflets promoting the turning off of car enginies when stationary. Each pupil to take one leaflet home to parents to raise awareness of this new campaign and improve the air quality around our school.a recent trial led by the University of Leicester involved a school-aged volunteer carrying a personal air quality monitor to see where air pollution was worst on his normal commute. This trial found the highest levels, even higher than waiting to cross a busy road, was when passing an idling vehicle on a side street. s of activity 06/06/ The Big Pedal The whole school took part in The Big Pedal competition. By day 4, we were 60th in the Large Primary School 5 day challenge with 37.84% of childen actively travelling to school! Our final results were outstanding! 81st overall in 5 day challenge for Large Primary Schools 16th in 5 day challenge for Greater London! s of activity 23/04/ /05/ The Golden Lock Competition promoted - every day during week of 12th March 2018, one child will find their bike/scooter locked up. They will then receive a prize. Competition held to encourage more children to cycle/scooter to school. s of activity 05/03/2018 Cycling club A TA who is a keen cyclist will attend Cycling Training aimed to enable him to set up a cycle club in the Summer Term. On the day, our Bike-It officer came to school and held an assembly with the KS1 pupils on being safe on the pavements and roads in the dark. Any child who cycled or scooted to school recieved a token for a mince pie. There were over 90! s of activity 13/12/ Bike-to-school competition A special Christmas Mince Pie Assembly and a Bling Your Bike competition resulted in 90 students cycling/scooting to school on blinged up modes of sustainable transport. s of activity 13/12/ / 18
17 Attend a TfL or borough school travel event We were invited to Seminar for Gold accredited schools. Unfortunately we were unable to attend at the last minute. s of activity 20/11/ Bike-to-school competition The entire school are participating in the weekly Golden Lock competition. Once a week a 'Golden Lock' is placed onto a bike or scooter at random in the bike shed. The person who owns the bike/scooter wins a pro-cycling prize, ranging from bike lights to high-viz snap bands. This generates excitement and enthusiasm about using bikes and scooters to travel to school amongst the students every week. s of activity 13/11/ /07/2018 Bikeability training Year 5 children take part in Bikeability training. 26 children took part in the training over the week. s of activity 16/10/ /10/ Walk to School Week Walk to school week promoted through assemblies and s to parents. Children fill in daily chart and recieve a badge at the end of the week if they have used active travel to get to school every day! s of activity 09/10/ /10/ Communicating with parents/carers Walk to School Parents received s, texts about 'Walk to School' week, to ensure they encourage their children to walk, scooter or cycle to school. s of activity 09/10/ /10/ / 18
