5 STAKEHOLDER INTERVIEWS Trailnet & H3 Studio conducted a series of Stakeholder Interviews of residents, business owners, and local officials to begin to develop a list of Issues and Ideas related to the University City Bicycle & Pedestrian Master Plan. The interviews were strictly confidential and conducted only between the identified Stakeholders and the Design Team. Information gathered was assembled into the Consensus Issues and Consensus Ideas. 70 CONSENSUS IDEAS Develop designated bike/walk routes (2-3 east/west and 4-5 north/south) that parallel or bypass major arterial roads Make the Loop a pedestrian & bike-only plaza or mall Provide new, visible bike parking facilities in the Loop as part of the streetscape Provide centralized, secured bike storage facilities in and around the Loop Improve the safety of major intersections by reducing crossing distances, implementing paved crosswalks to clearly delineate the pedestrian zone, and installing on-demand, countdown crossing signals.
