2 General data 2016 France mainland Road fatalities increase by 0,2% between and 2016, representing 8 additional fatalities Results for the year 2016 Injury accidents Killed within 30 days Injured people incl hospitalised 24h 2016 estimates final results Difference 2016 / Variation 2016 / 1.1% 0.2% 2.0% 2.3% According to estimates based on 10 months of data : Road fatalities should decline substantially on motorways : 34 fewer fatalities (car users, users of utility vehicles). However, the number of fatalities on motorways is likely to remain above the level recorded in Road fatalities should slightly rise on the departmental road network, with 9 additional fatalities (+1%) in 2016 compared to ; pedestrians, motorcyclists and car users fatalities increasing significantly, contrary to the decline among moped riders and cyclists.

The increase of motorcyclists killed in September-October, due to a weather permitting going out, is largely compensated by a decrease in November and December. Overall, the fatalaties among motorcyclists remain stable in 2016 compared to.

Likewise, fatalities among pedal cyclists increase in 2016, more than compensating the decline observed in.
