HRO TH HRON TH GRAT BLU HRON, TH PARC S MBLM Animal emblem of the Parc National de Frontenac, the great blue heron can be seen in all sectors of the territory. ts wingspan exceeding m, its majestic look and blue plumage make it easy to distinguish from other fishing birds. Lucky visitors will get a glimpse of this great bird hovering above their heads. The abundance and diversity of the park s water bodies make it a preferred location for bird watching. LA TOURBÈR The peatland in the St-Daniel sector is home to several species of carnivorous plants and orchids. A wooded pathway allows observation of the flora typical to peatlands. Discovery panels line the trail where two observation towers are also accessible. 1 LAC À LA BARBU à la Barbue is the perfect place to learn and practise the basics of canoeing. Let yourself glide gently on the water through a garden of water lily varieties. Take a moment to stop and watch for waterfowl and white-tailed deer. Keep an eye out! n addition to the common loon, whose song will enchant you, perhaps you will observe the bald eagle perched atop a large pine tree. 4 PLOT PROJCT AUTHORZNG DOGS A pilot project is in its third year authorizing the presence of dogs in five national parks, including Parc national de Frontenac ( sector). Sépaq is conducting this project subject to conditions in order to measure how visits and the natural environment might be affected. Main rules * Dogs must remain in the places where they are authorized at all times. Dogs must be kept on a leash no more than three (3) metres in length and under surveillance at all times. The person in charge of the dog must pick up the animal s excrement without delay and dispose of it in a hygienic manner. Barking or howling dogs as well as dogs affecting the tranquility and safety of other visitors are not allowed. *ndividuals who fail to comply with any of the rules stated above may be required to leave the area and/or issued a statement of offence, where appropriate. Although it spreads far and large, the park occupies nearly 55% of its shores, and the two largest bays are within the park. Whether by canoe, pedal boat or kayak, discover this majestic body of water, maybe you will experience memorable encounters and understand the importance of preserving this unique environment! TH BALD AGLS AR BACK! Good news! Bald agles at à la Barbue have returned since 017. n order to protect future eaglets during the nesting season, access to the lake is restricted until June 14. Subsequently, a navigation restriction area is also identified by buoys, to limit disturbances near the nesting site. We ask for your collaboration so that you can get a chance to see these new eaglets evolve over the seasons. To preserve our natural riches, you are not allowed to remove any natural elements (animals, plants, dead wood, rocks, etc.). Please also keep to established hiking trails to avoid trampling flora. Animals find all they need to eat in nature. Feeding wildlife can be very damaging. Keep food or garbage out of reach of animals. We ask you to carry out all your garbage. Domestic animals are not accepted in Québec s national parks. To ensure the quality of the fish populations and their habitats, the park actively collaborates with the Grand Saint-François Fishermen s Association and the Department of Forestry, Wildlife and Parks to implement direct actions.
