2 History Created by the Wisconsin Glaciation over 20,000 years ago, Snow Lake was part of the Western Reserve granted to Oliver Snow, a Revolutionary War veteran. It was developed in the early 1900 s as a hunting and fishing club by a group of prominent Cleveland families seeking a wilderness refuge. Among the oldest hunting and fishing clubs in continuous operation in Ohio, Snow Lake has been privately-owned and carefully maintained by a founding family for over six decades. Over the Lake s rich history, vegetable gardens and orchards were planted, and its members raised fox, pheasant, mink, and horses.
