1 Harvest Holiday News November 2018 Note from the Chair Greetings, everyone! It's November! And the Festival is almost upon us. We are looking forward very much to seeing all of you and our visitors Thanksgiving week and weekend, and welcoming our guest clinicians for the festival, Dave Goss & Ulla Figwer. On Sunday, Nov. 11 there will be a Harvest Holiday meeting at 1:00 p.m., just prior to the Sunday Fun Dance, and we will finalize plans for the event. Hope to see y'all there! She is survived by her husband Peter, to whom she was married in Beryl and Peter were much beloved national round dance leaders for many years. They were always a joy to be around, and were excellent round dance instructors. They were the clinicians for the Harvest Holiday Festival in 1982, 1992 and They choreographed numerous dances, including Hall of Fame Dances Amor Cha (1988), Cavatina (1987), and Someone Like You (1984). They were recipients of the ICBDA (formerly URDC) Golden Torch Award in

5 Page 5 Harvest Holiday News November 2018 Miscellaneous Pre-Festival Reminders Nov As in past years, we will be hosting all request evening dances Monday Thursday (7:30-10:00 p.m.), and morning and afternoon teaches Tuesday- Thursday (10:00 a.am-noon and 2:00-4:00 p.m.). These pre-festival activities will take place at Swingtime Center, 5100 SE Loop 820, Fort Worth. While in the past all of these activities have been free, because of the large increase in the cost of the facility, this year there will be a fee for attending any of these sessions of $10.00 per couple / 5:00 per single payable at the door. Any couple registered for the main Festival event, may pay a one-time fee of $50.00 per couple to attend all the pre-festival activities (4 dances, 6 teaches). The tentative instructor line-up and rhythm/level (subject to change) for the impromptu pre-festival teaches at Swingtime Center is: Tuesday: 10:00 a.m. JL & Linda Pelton 5 WZ 2:00 p.m. Ron & Marilou Webb? Wednesday: 10:00 a.m. Karen & Ed Gloodt 4+WCS Afternoon Chris Jopek & Steve Davis 4+ QS Thursday: Morning Jack & Sharie Kenny 6 RB Afternoon Christine & Theron Hixson FT? Thanksgiving Day Luby s Cafeteria (approx. 1-1/2 mile from Swingtime and a block from La Quinta) will be open from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and will have a Thanksgiving Dinner menu available. If we give Luby s an approximate number about an hour before we go to eat, they will arrange some tables so we can all sit together. At this time, several HH members are planning to eat there after the Thursday afternoon impromptu teach (around 4:00-4:30 p.m.). Anyone is welcome to join the group no need to sign up.
