We hope you had fun during our special event week. Be sure to check out our costume and candy corn winners in this newsletter. As we move into the season of thankfulness and giving, we would like to extend our gratitude to you. Thank you for letting us share our love for the arts with your children. It is a blessing, and we are grateful for the opportunity. Please take a moment and read through this newsletter as it contains a lot of important information. When you are waiting in the large parent area near Studio D, we ask that you remember to leave the benches & cubby area for dancers so they have a place to change & wait for class. We are so proud of them for receiving this special preprofessional invitation.

Class Attire Required As stated in your class confirmation, all classes have a required dance or theatre attire that must be adhered to.

2 CONGRATULATIONS! Congratulations to our Senior 1 and 2 Dance Companies for an outstanding performance at New York s Capezio Peridance Center on Sunday, November 11th. The dancers performed SORT OF choreographed by Miss Rosanne & rehearsed by Miss Tori, RAIN choreographed by Miss Alyssa & GETAWAY CAR choreographed by Miss Bekah. We are so proud of them for receiving this special preprofessional invitation. Our dancers shared the stage with professional companies from the tri-state area and presented two shows for hundreds of audience members. If I cannot fly, let me sing Stephen Sondheim IMPORTANT! Class Attire Required As stated in your class confirmation, all classes have a required dance or theatre attire that must be adhered to. Teachers have a number of students not dressed appropriately for class. Absolutely no loose fitting shorts, jeans or dresses. Hair must be up and away from face and neck for all classes. Bootie shorts with tights can be worn in most classes. All Ballet Classes (Primary & up) are required to wear the Academy leotard for class. Ballet skirts are also permitted. The required Class Attire can be found on our website. Take advantage of our Holiday Mix & Match Special! The link for class attire is included on your class confirmation & is also on our website. Students not dressed in proper attire will not be permitted to participate in class. REQUIRED ATTIRE All students starting in an old pair of shoes will need the required shoe by January when we come back after the holiday break. Our Academy store stocks all required shoes and attire.

Class cancellations due to inclement weather will be posted on our website and social media and sent as a text through Remind 101 at least 1 hour prior to class start time.

HELPFUL HINTS Write your child s name in all shoes and leotards Bring pre-schoolers to the bathroom before class Purchase any 2 Academy Store Apparel and Take $5.00 Off Your Total SALE ENDS JANUARY 31st. Tie ballet laces and tuck into the shoe Mark your child s water bottle before sending into class Be mindful of other children s allergies as we are a nut free facility Infinite Motion Performing Arts Academy generally closes if area schools are closed due to severe weather, including anticipated icy road conditions. We err on the side of caution in considering travel conditions for our students and staff, as the majority of our teachers travel quite a distance to get here. Class cancellations due to inclement weather will be posted on our website and social media and sent as a text through Remind 101 at least 1 hour prior to class start time. IMPAA does not refund tuition due to inclement weather or other acts of severe nature that cannot be avoided. Students can make up the cancelled class in any other class of their choice at the Academy in the same age/level. If a class/day has to be cancelled more than two times due to inclement weather, we will offer make-up classes. SICKNESS: As cold and flu season approaches, let s all try to stay healthy! Please be mindful to keep your child home if he/she is not feeling well. All missed classes can be made up in an age appropriate class at your convenience. TWYLA THARP Since graduating from Barnard College in 1963, Ms.

Tharp founded her dance company, Twyla Tharp Dance. Her dances are known for creativity, wit and technical precision coupled with a streetwise nonchalance.

In addition to choreographing for her own company, she has created dances for The Joffrey Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, The Paris Opera Ballet, The Royal Ballet, New York City Ballet, The Boston

6 TWYLA THARP Since graduating from Barnard College in 1963, Ms. Tharp has choreographed more than one hundred sixty works: one hundred twenty-nine dances, twelve television specials, six Hollywood movies, four full-length ballets, four Broadway shows and two figure skating routines. She received one Tony Award, two Emmy Awards, nineteen honorary doctorates, the Vietnam Veterans of America President's Award, the 2004 National Medal of the Arts, the 2008 Jerome Robbins Prize, and a 2008 Kennedy Center Honor. Her many grants include the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Fellowship. She is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Philosophical Society, and an Honorary Member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters. In 1965, Ms. Tharp founded her dance company, Twyla Tharp Dance. Her dances are known for creativity, wit and technical precision coupled with a streetwise nonchalance. By combining different forms of movement such as jazz, ballet, boxing and inventions of her own making Ms. Tharp s work expands the boundaries of ballet and modern dance. In addition to choreographing for her own company, she has created dances for The Joffrey Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, The Paris Opera Ballet, The Royal Ballet, New York City Ballet, The Boston Ballet, The Australian Ballet, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, The Martha Graham Dance Company, Miami City Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Atlanta Ballet and Royal Winnipeg Ballet. Today, ballet and dance companies around the world continue to perform Ms. Tharp s works. Ms. Tharp's work first appeared on Broadway in 1980 with WHEN WE WERE VERY YOUNG, followed by her collaboration with musician David Byrne on THE CATHERINE WHEEL and later by SINGIN IN THE RAIN. In 2002, Ms. Tharp s dance musical MOVIN' OUT, set to the music and lyrics of Billy Joel. Ms. Tharp later worked with Bob Dylan s music and lyrics in THE TIMES THEY ARE A- CHANGIN and COME FLY AWAY, set to songs sung by Frank Sinatra. In film, Ms. Tharp has collaborated with director Milos Forman on HAIR, RAGTIME and AMADEUS. She has also worked with Taylor Hackford on WHITE NIGHTS and James Brooks on I'LL DO ANYTHING. Her television credits include choreographing SUE'S LEG for the inaugural episode of PBS' DANCE IN AMERICA IN 1976, co-producing and directing MAKING TELEVISION DANCE, and directing THE CATHERINE WHEEL for BBC Television. Ms. Tharp co-directed the television special BARYSHNIKOV BY THARP. In 1992, Ms. Tharp published her autobiography PUSH COMES TO SHOVE. She went on to write THE CREATIVE HABIT: Learn it and Use it for Life, followed by THE COLLABORATIVE HABIT: Life Lessons for Working Together. She is currently working on a fourth book. Today, Ms. Tharp continues to create.
