When starting a new year, I like to look back and reflect on the year gone by and appreciate all the new friends I ve made along the way. We welcomed 4 new memberships into our Club in 2017.

I hope you all had an amazing Christmas and New Year with friends and family. If you spent it here, you ll know it was absolutely beautiful. I never get tired of winters in Havasu. When starting a new year, I like to look back and reflect on the year gone by and appreciate all the new friends I ve made along the way. We welcomed 4 new memberships into our Club in In January, we welcomed Don & Chris Wiederhold, in March, Ron & Pat Allen, in April, Leo & Sharon Cote, and in June, Lonnie Adamson & Sharon Schmidt. Sadly, we lost Leo in September and miss him greatly. We re starting off 2018 by welcoming Chuck & Moe Barton who will be official members in January December was a very busy month with the Parade of Lights and our Club Christmas Party. Tammy and her Parade of Lights Committee members outdid themselves again. I don t know how closely you all look at the financials, but the Parade of Lights is the reason we ve not had a dues increase for several years. It s our only fundraiser and is very successful under Tammy s leadership. Work on the 2018 Parade will begin earlier this year, so when Tammy starts mobilizing, please step up and help. It is a great fundraiser with unlimited potential, so let s join together and show the community what our Club can accomplish. I don t think many of you missed the Christmas party since we just about filled Greg & Karen s living room and front deck, but if you did, you missed a great time. A huge Thank You to Greg

2 & Karen for opening their beautiful home and hosting our Christmas Party, and to Bonnie View, Don & Chris Wiederhold, Tom & Gloria Askland, Mary and Doreene for helping with the food and preparations. Everything was delicious. Gary Peaslee entertained us throughout the evening and Santa made an appearance to distribute gifts. What a fun evening. Thank you to all of you who have stepped up to chair committees in I think you ll find it rewarding and a great opportunity to get to know your fellow Club members better. The 2018 Committee List is included in this newsletter. If you see a committee you d like to work on, just contact the chairperson and offer to help. It s customary for the incoming Commodore to outline his or her priorities for the upcoming year. I looked back at Tammy s and, not surprisingly, she accomplished all four of hers through the work of the committees. The Memorial Flag is flying high, the Parade reached a new level, we welcomed 5 new memberships into our Club, and we spent many wonderful hours on the lake enjoying our friends and our beautiful Houseboat. Tammy always sets the bar high. My priorities for this year are: First and foremost, have fun!! I m looking forward to all the Friday Night Socials, house parties, restaurant parties, cove parties, theme parties and whatever else our Rear Commodore can come up with. Continue to reach new levels with the Boat Parade of Lights (very important, see paragraph 3) Continue to invite quality members to join us who share our mission of fellowship and community involvement. I hope these goals meet your approval because it will take all of us to achieve them. I guess I got a little carried away, but it s my first article as Commodore and I m a little excited. I look forward to working with all of you to make this a very special year. Julie

3 A message from your Rear Commodore - C.D. DuBane Hello LBYC members, I hope you all had a safe and happy New Year!! I m looking forward to a fun-filled year ahead. Let s put our heads together and come up with some new and old & fun things to do as a group. This is all new to me, so I can use all the help I can get. I am excited for this opportunity to serve as your Rear Commodore this next year. I thank you all in advance for your support.

4 Our 2017 Shipmate of the Year is John View. I d like to thank John for stepping up on a regular basis for everything from serving as Vice Commodore to chairing our float committee, and even doing lots of good meals for all of us. Like many of you, John has been doing these things for many years. This year I d like to thank and recognize John s contributions. We really appreciate everything you do.

Don & Chris Wiederhold Two and a half years ago, Don and Chris decided to tow their 5 th wheel 2800 miles to spend February and March in Lake Havasu City visiting friends.

5 Don & Chris Wiederhold Two and a half years ago, Don and Chris decided to tow their 5 th wheel 2800 miles to spend February and March in Lake Havasu City visiting friends. Four months later, they were still here and had bought a home. They returned to their forever home of 24 years in Bokeelia, Florida, sold it and moved permanently to Lake Havasu. Bokeelia is located in southwest Florida on an island in the Gulf of Mexico where the water is gorgeous, and the dolphins & fish are everywhere. Never did they imagine that they would find another place that they would love as much. But we have! Not real fond of the heat and dryness, but definitely excited about no hurricanes! Don and Chris were both raised in Michigan; Don in Saginaw and Chris in the small town of CenterLine, just north of Detroit. They also both started working for General Motors when they were 18 years old. Don as a student and co-op employee at General Motors Institute & Chevrolet Foundry and Chris as a secretary for Chevrolet Engineering Center. Between them, they logged 72 years working for GM in many different and fun jobs. Don retired from the GM Powertrain Division as a Corvette engine design engineer and off-shore racing boat engine designer. Chris retired from Chevrolet Marketing as their Color and Trim Manager responsible for exterior colors & trim and interior materials & seats for 22 Chevrolet vehicles. Chris received both her bachelor s & master s degrees at night while working, thanks to Don s support. Not surprising that they met at General Motors mid-way through their careers and married a year later. They have a granddaughter from son, Glenn, and two grandsons from daughter, Julie. All of whom still reside in Michigan. Chris & Don both traveled a lot through their jobs and since retirement in They currently have a 44-foot 5 th wheel toy hauler and have traded their Florida boat in for a pontoon boat. The past two summers were spent exploring the beautiful west coast in their 5 th wheel with their cat and dog. Their dog, Webe, is a rescue from Detroit and is a therapy dog visiting assisted living homes and schools in Lake Havasu. In Florida, she was an agility dog working on her Masters. No agility trials available here! Joining the London Bridge Yacht Club last year certainly has opened opportunities to meet new friends and have lots of fun. Don and Chris also belong to the London Bridge RV Club giving them both land and water adventures. They are forever indebted to CD & Norm Dubane for inviting them to join both clubs.

Knottie Girls (Pat Allen) I have a few thoughts for upcoming Knottie Girls activities for the club: Poker party Brewery tour Golf and the Refuge, or other golf club A Pool Party (any takers for the summer months?) Nothing is set in stone and I am open to any suggestions. I hope to have something every month, so I need your input. Parade of Lights (Tammy Kastelz) No Report at this time.
