1 NOVEMBER 2016 NOVEMBER Welcome to the November edition of the Patriot NJROTC monthly newsletter! While we have many great adventures ahead in the coming months, our unit has made remarkable progress during the month of October. In Orienteering, on October 1 st our Orienteering Novice team took home 14 medals at the Annapolis High School O- meet, and on October 22, our Orienteering team won 12 medals (Varsity Hall, Ball, Wiscovitch; Junior Varsity Crooks, Xu, Turnbull, I. Pack; Intermediate Offut, Dawson, Feeley, K. Palmer, Blank) at an orienteering meet at Balls Bluff Park, Leesburg, VA. Congratulations! In Rifle, our Novice Rifle Team 1 won 3 rd place overall. In individual competitions, Dirndorfer placed 6 th in Veteran Sporter, and Bonilla, Bean and S. Palmer placed 8 th, 9 th, and 10 th, respectively in Novice Sporter at the rifle meet in Dallastown, PA. Congratulations! Our big THANKS to the many parents who have volunteered at the tailgate, the annual cadet Portrait Day, field trips, team competitions and other unit affairs! TEAMS ORIENTEERING FIELD TRIP & SCORE-O TJ Patriot NJROTC will be hosting our 2 nd orienteering meet on Saturday, November 19 th at the Little Bennett Regional Park, Clarksburg, MD. Cadets will have a field trip on Friday the 18 th to set up and run the course. Since we are hosting the meet, our own team will not be competing. As more than 100 people from other teams are expected to attend the event, we would like to have as much support as we can get from cadets and parents. 2 NOVEMBER 2016 NEWS TEAMS Our Orienteering, Rifle and Drill Teams have been in full swing since October. There will be three competitions in November, one for each of the teams. Please see the calendar for dates and locations. FIELD TRIP An Orienteering field trip is scheduled in November, and it is open to every cadet. Cadets with no experience in orienteering are encouraged to attend. Details will be sent out by Chief before the trip. SPIRITWEAR Need Patriot NJROTC Spiritwear? Our unit is offering a variety of apparel, from shirts to pullovers and to caps. Browse the collections of Unit Spiritwear, Drill Spiritwear, Orienteering Spiritwear and Rifle Spiritwear. We need 6 (or more) cadets to help serving the Thanksgiving Dinner at the American Legion on November 24 th from We also need 5 cadets to help the marines with TOYS FOR TOTS at Mount Airy Southern States on December 3 rd.
