1 DECEMBER 2016 DECEMBER Welcome to the December edition of the Patriot NJROTC monthly newsletter! What a busy month November is! In Orienteering, on November 16 th, our unit hosted our 2 nd Score-O at Little Bennett Regional Park. About 140 cadets from 12 schools attended the event. Many of our parents and cadets came to help. The event was a huge success! In Rifle, on November 5 th, our rifle team won 2 nd place at Rifle STS at Annapolis High School, Annapolis, MD. Dirndorfer placed 4 th in Veteran category and Beane placed 4 th in Novice category. Congratulations! In Community Service, on Veteran s Day, our color guard raised the flag at Frederick Charter School, and our drill team placed flags outside TJ and in downtown Frederick. Some cadets also celebrated the day with Lt. Col. and Chief and thanked them for their service. On November 24 th, 14 cadets volunteered to serve Thanksgiving Dinner at American Legion. As always, we thank the many parents who have volunteered at different events, especially the Score-O and Area 5. Our special thanks to Mrs. Buckman, President of Patriot Boosters for her dedication and devotion to our unit, thanks to Mrs. Riegel for coordinating orienteering events, and thanks to Mr. Sniffen for cooking all the food with his brand new grill at the Score-O and helping prepare 400+ boxed lunches for Area 5! TEAMS AREA 5 ORIENTEERING CHAMPIONSHIP On December 3 rd, Patriot NJROTC hosted Area 5 Orienteering Championship at Patapsco Valley State Park, Catonsville, MD. 402 cadets from 25 schools competed at the event.
