1 ESCONDIDO MOOSE FAMILY CENTER #1874 GOVERNORS MESSAGE GOVERNOR S CORNER March 2013 Newsletter MEMBERSHIP: We have lowered e membership fee for new members to $40.00 until April 30. Moose International has eliminated e application fee rough April 30. Normally it costs $70.00 for a new member to join, now it is only $40.00, a saving of $ Now is e time to sponsor a friend, family member or co-worker into e Moose fraternity. They will be glad you did. Our membership is way down, let's build it back up. If you sponsor at least 2 members before April 30, your own membership will be free for e next year. What a deal! The current Moose year ends on 30 April Election of officers for e coming year will be on April 5, We need dedicated people to fill ese positions. If interested in serving on Board of Officers, please fill out a nomination form located on e LOOM Bulletin Board and give e form to e Administrator who will present it to e Nominating Committee Chairman for consideration by e Nominating Committee. The Offices open for election are: Governor, Junior Governor, Prelate, Treasurer and e 2 year and 3 year Trustee positions. rd The Miss Moose Escondido contest has been rescheduled to March 3. The winner of is event will go to e Kearny Mesa Lodge, who will host e 2013 Miss Moose Souern District 23 contest on Saturday March 9. Come on out a support our candidate. See flyer for more information. Let's have a great turnout for e District Meeting at e Escondido Moose Lodge on Sunday, March 17. Come out to breakfast and stay for e Social Meeting at 11:00 AM. Support our own District 23 President, Dale Pulver. Mark your calendar for e following upcoming events: 20 April at 4:00 PM LOOM Installation of Officers; 27/28 April Smoke Off in e Park. A big ank you to Lee Martin for e fine job of hosting e NFL Sunday's football food events and e season end on Super Bowl Sunday pot luck. The funds from ese events will be used to purchase kids equipment for e Picnic Park is spring. Thanks again Lee and to all ose who participated over e long NFL season. We need cooks if we are to continue offering meals on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Friday. Thank you Dear Co-Workers, Good afternoon and THANK YOU. As anoer mon rolls to an end and yet anoer fundraising event concludes, I am again reminded how blessed we are to have such wonderful men and women in is fraternal organization. From a casual smile, to a warm welcoming hug, to sharing tears of grief and joy, sharing a meal and/or beverage, dancing e night away, supporting our Lodge/Chapter and our local charities, YOU, our members, are at e core of making it happen. I love is lodge and all of you, ank you. Saturday marked anoer fun and successful Western Days event. Our chairman, Doris Buydos along wi her Committee members, WOTM helpers (too many to name individually), and our LOOM helpers (too many of em to name individually as well) did a fantastic job. Just curious, did you notice e NEW jail? Courtesy of our builders Phil and Geary, we have a nice new (no mold or black widow spiders) "portable" jail to enjoy for years to come. Oh and did you also notice e longer bars on e window, special for our "petite" members so ey can see out of e jail? A little someing for everyone including markers to autograph e inside walls, and ank goodness e judge could be bribed wi cheap bail! Yes, from e food to e games, e cake/pie auction (ank you Ladies for your donations) and Moose races, l i n e d a n c i n g b y D u f f y, gunfights in e park, and e Marshall's arresting our members for unmentionable offenses, it was a great day! I saw lots of smiles and laughter and at's what it's all about. A special ank you goes out to Super Cuts who donated eir time and eir donations to h e l p u s s u p p o r t R a d y s Children's Hospital. Thank you for spending your day and your hard earned money, we appreciate it very much. If you're interested in becoming more involved wi e WOTM, we'd love to have your help. As a matter of fact, we have one more nominating committee meeting scheduled for March 6. If you would be interested in joining e board of officers, please fill out a form (forms and job descriptions on e WOTM board in e hallway). Return it to one of e current WOTM officers or to e bartender PRIOR to Wednesday March 6. Not ready for a board position, but want to help? We will also be needing chairman for 2013/2014; let us know we'd love to have some new faces and some new energy! Oh, and rumor has it we have some new members at love to COOK! Awesome, we're ready for some new recipes, just let us know when you're ready and we'll make sure you're on e calendar to share your special talent (we LOVE to eat!). One last ing, members are e most important facet of a fraternal organization. It's a great, safe place to meet and make new friends, but it's even more fun to bring your friends and family wi you so ey can make new friends too. Our membership special is quickly coming to an end, so now is e time to sign up ose girl friends or your daughters at you've been inking would have such fun at e Lodge. Don't forget, no application fee, and discounted dues to $20, what better time for em to sign up or gift for you to give?
