2 Corvette Expressions 3rd Edition Volume 122 October, 2016 Hello, and Happy Halloween, Corvette Express members. It's hard to believe it's October already. In addition to our own events, there are some great shows this month: Peddler's village, Smithville, Woodbridge club, etc. I've also been in touch with some senior members from the central Jersey NCRS chapter; they're doing a membership drive over the next few months. Please consider becoming a member and/or joining the local chapter. The NCRS truly sets the standard in automotive preservation and restoration. They are recognized, worldwide, as the most knowledgeable and accurate source for Corvette originality and restoration. This month's meeting will be open to executive board nominations. As the club continues to grow, member participation is increasingly important. Please consider running for any position or committee that may be available. Fall is here, and with it, some lovely weather for Corvette Express activities. Members gathered at the Fireside Restaurant for an evening of food, drinks, and fun on September 12. Keep in mind that there is one Fireside gathering left for this year which will be Monday, October 3rd (weather permitting.) On September 18, club members embarked on a lovely cruise to Cape May and the Lobster House. Please see page 6 for some great pictures and commentary by Dave Schneiderman, who organized this fun trip. September 24 started off a little rainy, but turned out to be a perfectly beautiful day at Laurita Winery s Back to School Fall Festival. Everyone had a great time sampling the different wines and food truck cuisine (which, if you ve never tried it, it s actually pretty good!) Please see page 10. 5 And the nominees are... As discussed during our September meeting, October officially kicks off our nomination process to nominate and elect officers for next year. You might be asking yourself, what does this mean, and how can I nominate a fellow club member or myself for one of the positions? That's a good question. Let me explain the process in more detail. Basically, the nomination process works as follows: During our October meeting, the President will open the floor for nominations. At this time you can nominate a fellow club member for any of the positions, or you can nominate yourself. The person who gets nominated can either accept or decline the nomination. If accepted, the nomination will be recorded by the Secretary. The nomination process will be repeated during our November meeting. At the end of our November meeting, the nominations will be closed. During the December meeting, we will vote in the officers for Timeline: October meeting: Open for nominations November meeting: Open for nominations December meeting: Vote in officers for 2017 Position available: President Vice -President Secretary Treasurer Membership Coordinator Sgt-at-Arms I would encourage all members, especially our new members, to consider running for any one of the above positions. It's another opportunity to support and contribute to Corvette Express. I assure you that you will definitely find it a rewarding and enjoyable experience. 7 Cape May Cruise 9/18/16 After worrisome forecasts all week long, Sunday morning started off a bit cloudy, but soon after our caravan left the Wawa, the sun came out, and we had great weather all day. Fourteen cars headed out; first for a run through the Pinelands on Pasadena and Savoy Roads, then a bit of a holdup for a local bicycle race. Next, it was on to the Ferry Terminal at Cape May for a well-deserved health break. The next stop was Sunset Beach and then on to the Lobster House for a great lunch in a private dining room (only the best for Corvette Express!.) As a perfect end to the day, Lisa & Larry invited us all back to their house in Wildwood where we relaxed in the cooling breezes off the ocean. -7-

14 October Car Shows 10/1: Monmouth County Concours d Elegance on Saturday October 1, (rain date October 2, 2016), 10 am 4 pm. Applications now being accepted until August 19th for vehicles from , $35 fee all proceeds to 180 Turning Lives Around. Since 2008, the Monmouth County Concours d Elegance has raised in excess of $600,000 for local charitable causes including Big Brothers Big Sisters, 180 Turning Lives Around, Boys and Girls Clubs of Monmouth and Middlesex Counties, Horizons at RCDS, and Embrace Kids Foundation. Also accepting vendors. Ryan Finnen-Ramos, /1: Tuckerton Seaport Antique Car and Truck Show held from 8 am to 2 pm at the Tuckerton Seaport Museum, 120 W. Main St. (Rt. 9) in Tuckerton, NJ. Judged show sponsored by the Tuckerton Seaport Museum and the Vintage Automobile Museum of NJ. Trophies, door prizes, special awards with food and drink available. $17 Pre-registration/$20 day of show. Spectators free. Goodies bags for the first 120 registrations and dash plaques for the first 50. Over 80 trophies awarded and a trophy for the club with the most entries. We will have live bands, vendors, great restaurants, coupons, door prizes and a K-9 demonstration by the BCPD K-9 Unit. Trophies awarded in every class along with Mayor's Choice & Club Participation. Raffle of GPS with a donation of non-perishable food or cash donation to the Woodbridge Food Bank. 50/50 where 100% of the club proceeds goes to the Menlo Park Veteran's Memorial Home.
