2 Corvette Expressions 3rd Edition - Volume 143 September, 2018 Happy Labor Day! It's not over yet; there's great weather ahead and plenty to do. I've been busy doing my usual Corvette repair and restoration work, so I haven't seen much of the membership, outside of our monthly meetings. I've recently worked on, what most people would consider, the "top dog," and certainly a very desirable and valuable Corvette, a 1967, 427/ 435HP tri-power. This particular car is highly optioned, and I'll tell you, when it's running, the exhaust note from those factory side pipes is amazing. Pure power! So that brings me to this year s Corvette show in Carlisle PA. Good weather, nice turnout of cars and guests. The past few years, this year no exception, the late model cars and performance accessories dominated the show. As I walked around and saw fewer C1's and C2's, I couldn't help but think, "that's where it all started". Turning wrenches has given way to technology; nothing wrong with that, but the "experience" is completely different. Those of you who have never spent time with these older Corvettes are really missing something. So, as the fall approaches, we will focus on new activities, elections for officer and committee positions, and the continued growth of the club overall. Perhaps monthly "feature articles" in this newsletter, member reviews and highlights, etc... See you at the next meeting, Wed, Sept. 5th. Thank You. August weather wasn t the only thing that was hot last month; how about Corvette Express first annual Hot Dog Run which took place on August 11. Dave S. and Bill Z. organized a fun cruise that involved traveling to several famous hot dog venues, sampling the goods, and rating each one in different categories. Lynne S., your pictures were outstanding as always! Ed A. invited members to participate in the annual Toys for Tots car show at the Home Depot in West Long Branch on August 26. Thank-you, Ed, for all you do for this good cause, and also to Al Q. for some great pictures. The next club meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 5. See you then! 4 Hot Dog Run - August 11 Have you ever wondered who made the best hot dogs in New Jersey? So did several of our club members, as they embarked on a truly tasty quest to find out. After visiting six different, well known establishments, the votes were in. The big winner: The Windmill. -4-
