3 FROM THE ORIENTATION GUY! By Chuck Myers Hello Everyone!! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and the New Year will be good to you. It is time that we get serious again about our membership. Of course it begins with the application that a new visitor to our great organization receives in order to join us. Unfortunately, most of them don t know very much about the MOOSE, so once the fun and games wear off for them, they see no need to keep paying dues. The Moose could be a very important part of a member s future. All of our members need to know all about Mooseheart and Moosehaven. None of us knows what the future has for us, and Moosehaven could be a welcome and very important part of our future. All members and prospective members are invited to an Orientation/ Question and Answer Session on Thursday, January 26th, and February 23rd at 7:40 pm in the Ball Room. We ll only keep you about one hour. ALL ARE WELCOME. Please come, and bring someone with you. Fraternally, Chuck Myers Wotm Held a Kid s Shopping Spree and Book Sale On December 4, 2016 The Chapter would like to thank all who participated and contributed to this event. 4 ADMINISTRATOR S MESSAGE: by Dan O Neal We hope everyone had a great holiday season and wish the new year brings forth good things for all. I was fortunate to have been present at the Moosehaven tree lighting ceremony while attending a meeting there a few weeks ago. It was a very inspiring event, far surpassing my expectations. This ceremony was not only attended by our Moosehaven residents, but also present was our Director General Scott Hart, Head of Field Operations Dave Smoot, along with the Georgia Moose Association, who sponsor the event each year. It was also very nice to see some residents from our own lodge such as Bea and Bill Plowden, B.J. Ledger and Joni Peteroy. All of them send love, hello s and best wishes to our members. If you want a great way to get into the holiday spirit next year, keep this event in mind, I promise it is very much worth the trip. There are some exciting new Moose programs forthcoming soon, some that have not been officially announced yet. These programs will be beneficial to both our members and potential members alike. Keep your eyes on the Moose magazine for these announcements. One program that has been rolled out is the New Moose Experience. This program is aimed at introducing our fraternity to the millennial generation. While it will not affect our lodge operations initially, years from now we will likely see a huge benefit. Another program targets our veterans and recognizes them for all they do for us. For more information on both of these programs, please visit the Moose international website at and enter the members only area. 5 Entertainment Committee By Danny Keel, Chairman Hello. We are planning another Comedy Show for Friday, January 20 th. The last show had everyone rolling on the floor laughing. We had just enough people to cover the cost at our last show so we need your support to continue doing these kinds of shows. The Comedy Machine (which is the name of the company that produces the show) wants to help us make this a success. So they have agreed to give us a one time discount for this show to help bring in more people and spread the word on what a great experience these shows are. So we will pass the savings on to you. Tickets for this show will be $15.00 instead of the $17.50 that we have charged in the past. And you will still get $2.00 off of your steak dinner in the dining room the night of the show when you show your ticket to the cashier. Tickets go on sale January 2 nd. We would like to do these shows every three months or so. Please help make that happen by coming out and supporting this event. Danny Friday January 20th PM $15.00 Pre Sale tickets Includes a $2.00 Discount on a steak Dinner that evening. $17.50 Day of Event Andy Kern & Company Growing up in the outskirts of Chicago, Andy s stories will have you spellbound. Andy dreamed of becoming a pro football player. Once he realized that wasn t going to happen he jumped into standup comedy. Andy went from Chitlin Circuit in South Central to Comedy Central. Andy has performed in Comedy Clubs, Colleges, Military Bases, and Casinos from Canada to California. He has appeared on VH I and Comedy Central. 12 There are no strangers here, only friends you haven t met!
