3 Lodge Improvement Committee John Boruch Hi Folks. As Chairman of the Lodge Improvement Committee I have some great news, I mean GREAT NEWS! Pool players will have choices which they never had before. First choice is to keep paying APA on Mondays and Wednesdays, or second choice join the Tuesday night Money League where the dues you pay every Tuesday night will stay at the Moose and the best part about this is that the money will be given back to the players at the end of each session as prizes. Yes, you will receive money for sure, as with the APA you basically get nothing unless your team is extremely lucky. Our money league stays in the Moose 100%, nothing, I mean nothing, goes to the APA. So what do you think about that sign up now because we had a 10 week trial run and we got all the bugs out of the system and we start October 8 th. Sign up and get a chance to make money verses donating money for the APA. Fraternally; John WOTM Higher Degree Happenings By Veneta Sawyer Hi Members. Our Roaring 20 s Dance is behind us and sadly, it was not all we had hoped for. But, everyone who attended enjoyed themselves. Our next project will be the Higher Degree, College of Regents, Chapter Night on November 5th at 7:30 PM. Please plan to attend. From our Committee, I wish everyone, a Very Happy Holiday Season. 4 ADMINISTRATOR S MESSAGE: by Dan O Neal Congratulations to our newsletter editor Alice Gore. She received honorable mention in Moose Internationals excellence in publications contest. Her certificate was presented at the FBMA September convention during the Sunday Awards session. Thanks for the great job you and your labeling crew do Alice! Thanks are overdue for some of our lodge volunteers, please forgive me for any omissions. To Sharon & Jim for keeping up events on our outdoor signage. Rain or shine, they come in faithfully every Tuesday to replace the letters and keep us updated. To our Thursday night Spaghetti crew: Morris Hash for picking up the bread and preparing it, Randy and Charlie for their time in the serving line and of course, we also thank our WOTM spaghetti servers Marty Herman, Nancy Travers and Susan Brizard. Most would probably agree our country seems more politically divided these days. With today s various ways of receiving news through so many sources of media, it s almost overwhelming and at times hard to avoid all the controversy. In all my lifetime never remember as must interest and/or discussion about politics. It s probably good, in that we become more informed through open conversation about the issues we face. On the other hand, with the increased division our country is experiencing, it seems we re also becoming more passionate in our opinions and that can sometimes flare our emotions. Why am I mentioning this? Because bartenders have reported that political conversations in the Social Quarters have occasionally become more heated than they should. A friendly debate is fine and we have no rule saying political discussions are off limits, but please, let s keep our emotions in check when expressing our opinions. Thanks in advance, Dan O Neal EXCUSE OUR DUST AS YOU MAY HAVE NOTICED, THE WORK HAS FINALLY BEGUN ON THE BALL ROOM. THIS MAY CAUSE SOME DISRUPTION IN OUR NORMAL SCHEDULES, SO PLEASE BEAR WITH US. WE WILL POST A NOTICE ON THE BULLETIN BOARD IF IT BECOMES NECESSARY TO RESCHEDULE OR CANCEL ANY EVENTS. THE END RESULT WILL BE SOMETHING ALL MEMBERS WILL BE PROUD TO HAVE. 4 Sunday, November 11, :00 5:00 PM Join us to honor our Military Heroes. There will be a special ceremony. $5.00 admission at the door Veterans with ID s are free Ham provided Covered Dishes & Desserts requested. Music by: Giddy Up Go Sponsored by All committee of Chapter 1002 / WOTM Join us for Texas Hold em Every Tuesday at PM And Sunday at 5:00 PM in the Back of the Ballroom. At this time we have added eight new bands and several single and duo singers. So come on out and have dinner and enjoy a night out with family, friends, and new members. P.S. We have recruited a really super band for New Years Eve, Groove Principal for the Lounge and Steel for the Ball Room. Norm 13

5 Moose Legion & Fellowship News By Bill Hoyt Greetings to all; In the recent month s I have noticed a lack of participation in both our Fellowship and our Moose Legion meetings, and this is not good. I m asking all Moose Legionnaires and Fellowship members to please start attending these meetings. We really need new ideas, new faces, and new ways to come up with activities to help in the retention of our existing membership and in attracting new members. We need to all work together in signing up new LOOM members and new Moose Legionnaires. This is very important to our fraternity. We are still serving food on Monday nights. You can get great meals at a low price. Legionnaires or Fellows can get ½ off when they give us a try for the first time if they have not attended a meeting since May 1 st of this year. (That s only $3) Our meetings are only once a month, on the first Monday. Fellowship meetings begin at 6:30 pm and the Moose Legion begins at 7:30 pm. So, why not come on out, have some food, and get together with me and the rest of our officers and share some ideas, have some laughs, and help make our Lodge one of the best. 6 Governor s Message By Danny Keel I can t believe it s the end of October already. This year seems to have gone by in a flash. Halloween starts off the holiday season, and this year Thanksgiving falls on the 22 nd of November. We will be having our annual Christmas Eve party on December 24 th which falls on a Monday. Music will be from 2:00 to. This is a great way for you to wish your Moose family a great Merry Christmas. Then of course we have New Years Eve party a week later. We are the only Lodge that I know of that has two parties, one in the ball room and one in the Social quarters (lounge). I can tell you that I have been going for the last 6 or 7 years consistently and have a good time every year. What other place can you go for $30.00 and get dinner and a full breakfast with great entertainment in two different rooms. Plus you get to party with 400 friends. This year we are going to try and start a new tradition by opening the lounge on New Year s Day so we can all come down and watch college bowl games. So help us make this a success and call your friends to all meet at the Moose Lodge to watch your favorite teams. Hope everyone has a very happy and safe holiday.
