The top three favorites included: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Mr. Grinch, and The Polar Express. Five teachers were surveyed and four agreed: Mr. Turnbull, Mrs. Ash, Mrs. Davis, and Mrs. Reaser chose Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, while Mrs. Galford chose The Polar Express. The career fair was planned for two months by SHMS and Mrs. Turner and Mrs. Bolden were the two mostly involved. "I wanted to do this so that we could help kids find out what they might want to do when they grow up," Mrs. Bolden said. There were 37 businesses that were represented during the career fair and 10 cancelations. The SHMS staff thinks that the career fair was a big success and they plan to try and do them annually, and to eventually have one business relating to each career cluster. Drama Club By Emma Guthall It is December which means South Harrison High School has held auditions for their Spring play- The Little Mermaid. Auditions went well according to senior, Cassidy Riley, Auditions went very well for me, and the others who auditioned. I was the only one who auditioned for Ursula, so I was very confident with my audition." The Cast list was posted Wed. Dec.14: the lead role of Ariel was given to junior, Mackenzie Haymond. "I'm very excited to be the lead in the school musical. It is going to be really fun," Haymond said. This year s night of comedy was a big success too, but all of the actors are excited to move on to work on The Little Mermaid. Winter Sports By Dakota Jarrett This year s South Harrison's boys basketball team thrives their way past Valley Wetzel to pick up their second win on the season. Senior Jeffrey Wright said I feel relaxed when I'm playing, we have excellent team chemistry. I can't wait to get that state title". The Hawks played against Liberty on Mon. Dec. 19 and lost but won Tues. Dec. 20 against Calhoun Co. The Lady Hawks are also on a winning path, now 2-0 on the season. Head coach Zach HayHurst is working to rebuild the program. Senior Brianna Sears is one of the starters for the Hawks. I am really nervous to see how we hold up against our opponents but we get the job done" Sears said. There will be more basketball news for both boys and girls basketball in the new year!

2 All I want for Christmas is... By Lauren Evans Everyone has a Christmas wish. There are so many different types of people so answers may vary. Here at SH most everyone is country so a lot of our answers where boots and cars and guns. Mrs. Ash said I want peace for my family during this time, because of everything that has happened. Junior Emma Guthall said that she would like a bluetooth record player. Mrs. Larew said, I want everyone to be safe over break. I wish for safe travels for families and Happy Holidays. Freshman Gatlin West said, I want a pair of boots and I already know I'm getting a 12 Gauge. Mr. Simons was very sassy in saying, I don t want anything. If I wanted something I d just go get it. I m in the giving mood this year, he also added. Junior Daniel Boatwright said that he wants a miniature cow. Senior Austin Pringle said, I want a new truck. The students and teacher from the Newspaper wish for everyone to have a Happy Holiday and safe travels. Club News By Kierra Myers Pep Club - There will be themed basketball games and pep club will be having a Fan Gear Fundraiser after Christmas Break. Student Council - Members volunteered at the mall with the United Way and wrapped gifts to earn donations on December 4. FBLA -Spring conference will be held in April Drama Club- In need of dedicated stage crew, hair and makeup artists, and set builders. If interested please see Mr.Rhodes or drama club president Cassidy Riley. Science Bowl By Logan Peck The South Harrison science bowl team ventured to Fairmont State University on December 8 to compete in the annual regional competition. Mrs. Stout helped organize the event and was the team's leader, the team consisted of Ben Talbot, Sara Moreno, Jake Todd, Chase Taylor, Emily Bowman, Austin Daniels, Samuel Bolyard, Hunter Moore, Colin Colombo, and Logan Peck, with Mrs. Ward also accompanying the team. When asked to describe this year s contest Mrs. Stout stated Typical, It was like it always it, it comes down to a competitive edge, and I think we did well this year. Ways to get involved in the science bowl include taking advanced sciences to help get a better understanding of the questions that will be asked. Stout went on to give a general overview of the event: It is ran by RESA 7, it's a competition of counties ran by RESA, ran in a double elimination bracket with a gameplay similar to Jeopardy. She also would recommend participating in the event to anyone who loves science and those who have a competitive edge. She said to improve our success next year returning participants can continue practicing, and newcomers need to take the advanced classes, and come see me. Photo by theet.com

3 South Harrison Cupcake Wars By Lauren Fultz Miss Malfregeot hosted her annual Cupcake Wars with her 3 rd block Foods Preparation class. The class was divided into groups of three to five people per kitchen. The groups had this lab planned for over a month. Students prepared by searching the internet to find a recipe and cupcake design they would like to prepare the perfect cupcakes. They worked very hard for days to make the cupcakes to present to the judges. The first day students prepared the cupcakes to let sit overnight. The second day they made the icing and toppings to put on the cupcakes for the judges. The group who won 1 st place was rewarded with the hostess preparing homemade pepperoni rolls to give to the group. The 1st Place winner was the delicious Dark Chocolate cupcakes with chocolate whip cream frosting in kitchen 2A scoring points. Second place won with the tasty Death by Peppermint Oreo in kitchen 2B scoring points. The group to place 3 rd was the pleasant Peppermint Cream Cheese Buttercream in kitchen 5 scoring 125 points. The group who placed 4 th was the scrumptious Eggnog with Caramel cupcakes with eggnog buttercream frosting in kitchen 4 scoring points. The group who placed 5 th was the mouthwatering Salted Caramel cupcakes with pecan crumble and caramel swiss buttercream frosting in kitchen 3 with points. The group who placed 6 th was the delectable Vanilla Peppermint cupcakes in kitchen 1 scoring 117 points. I would like to thank the 12 judges who sampled and evaluated the cupcakes, Miss Malfregeot said. She also said that the students in the class had so much fun making the cupcakes to see what they could do to design the cupcakes and what the judges said about their hard work. Miss Malfregeot worked hard monitoring each kitchen to make sure everything was going smoothly and most importantly being there in need of help if needed right away. 19 Questions with the SeniorNovember Students of the Month By Myranda Seese 1.What is your favorite high school memory?
