Thank you to everyone who contributed to making the country fair such a success. To all those that baked goods for the stall, collected donations, promoted the day, helped on stalls, set up and packed up on the day, all teachers, sponsors ( see attached sheet) and to all that donated when the requests were sent out. A special mention to Meigan Dickinson, Ros Verhaaf, Debbie Rees, Lynn Sutterby, Sharon Harvey, Kylie Croysdale, Kylie Setford, Sandra Christie, Sam Acht, Lauren Virgona, Dan Ricard, Pierina Ottaway, Denise Lothian, Gary Walters, Wayne Williams, Nick and Michaela Scott, Glenn, Sean Tholen and to those members of the teachers families who leant a hand on the day. Thank you, a day like Saturday doesn't happen without the help from all of you. Thank you for making it such a success. I would personally like to also congratulate the fabulous team of hard workers led by Rae who put together the Country Fair, it was a fantastic day that promoted just what a wonderful community school we are. At this point I don t have a finalised figure but we estimate that we raised over $4,000. We would love to hear your feedback via the form at the bottom of the newsletter. Premiers Reading Challenge is on again flyer included in the newsletter. Crib Point PS will be participating in this years challenge. If you would like your child to participate please collect a form from the front office. We will be opening the library in term 2 during a lunch time to help the children have access to the Reading Challenge books. They are also available to borrow from our school library and the local library. A list of the Reading challenge books is available at The Challenge begins now and officially ends on 14 September Students in Foundation to Year 2 who accept the Challenge need to read or experience 30 books during this period. Students in Years 3 to 10 who accept the Challenge must read 15 books during this period. Some books must be selected from the book lists available on the Challenge site. Three elements support students and schools participating in the Challenge: the rules, the book list and the online application for recording books. Students must choose some of their books from the Challenge book list, and record their reading online as set out in the six rules for the Challenge. I am happy to enter the children's books for them online if parents are unable to do this, please come and see me if you need this support. 3 Environment Week at the Briars The year 3/4 students are to be commended for the wonderful behaviour they demonstrated on their excursion on Tuesday. Many presenters commented on their good manners and patience at waiting to listen to instructions and have their turn at an activity. They participated in a variety of activities and learnt many things about sustainability and caring for the environment. The Workshops The tongs represent a bird s beak. The students had to use the tongs to get the bird s food. The students were able to observe birds using a telescope, binoculars and viewing the wetlands through the window. The Expo Paddock Is the creek water healthy? The Year 3/4s identified and counted the number of different species living in the water. Today I have been on duty in the hide at the Briars and during the morning had groups of children from the Crib Point Primary School visit the hide. I have done this event for a number of years and believe that your pupils are among the best I have dealt with. Polite, interested, attentive. We were really impressed. A credit to the teachers. 4 Dear parents At Crib Point Primary School, we aim to create a safe and supportive school community for everyone. Sometimes, it can be difficult for parents or carers to know what to do when their child talks to them about bullying. You are an important part of our work to prevent bullying and to respond effectively if it happens. Stopping bullying involves everyone. Our school is taking part in the 2015 National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence on Friday 20 March. Each class will present to the whole school at Monday s assembly 23 rd March. If you are looking for support for yourself to deal with a bullying situation, you will find ideas on the Bullying. No Way! website for parents. As well, please contact the school if you would like to discuss any aspect of our approach to preventing bullying. Thanks for your support to make our school a great school for everyone.

6 FUNDRAISING NEWSLETTER COUNTRY FAIR Wow - where do I start. A million thank you's to everyone who helped out at the Country Fair on Saturday. What an amazing community we have - both school and wider. So very proud to be a part of it. To all those that baked goods for the stall, collected donations, promoted the day, helped on stalls, set up and packed up on the day, all teachers, sponsors, to all that donated when the requests were sent out and all the beautiful people who just said - what else can I do? Thank you. It is an absolute pleasure knowing you all. It looks like the day raised approximately $4000 we are just finalizing a few more details before we get a final figure. This is a fantastic start to our fundraising year. LEGO COMPETITION We had a great response to our Lego competition with lots of wonderful entries. As we had no entries in the open section, we did a boys and girls section for grades 3-6. The winners were Preschool 1 st Erin, 2 nd Huch, 3 rd Stella. Prep Grade 2 1 st Charlie, 2 nd Alex,3 rd Baylen. Grade 3 6 Girls 1 st Ella,2 nd Elizabeth, 3 rd Imogen. Boys 1 st Thomas,2 nd David, 3 rd Ben. Congratulations to all of you. FACEBOOK PHOTO COMPETITION The winner of our Facebook competition was Kaila Worrell with this awesome photo of Kiara on the Wipeout. Congratulations. CAR SHOW The winner of crowd favourite for our Car show went to Russell Williams and his VS Holden Ute. FREE DRESS DAY Yesterday we had our free dress day and thank you to everyone who bought in their Easter donation for our raffles. EASTER RAFFLES The tickets for the Easter raffle went home on Tuesday. Tickets are $1 each or 3 for $2. Extra books can be picked up at the office. Prizes will be drawn at our final assembly for the term on Friday 27 th of March at 2pm. GUESS THE NUMBER OF EASTER EGGS We have had a large jar of Easter eggs donated to us by the lovely Lynn Sutterby. We will be running a lucky guess competition to win this jar of eggs. They will be at the office as of Monday and the winner will also be announced at assembly on Friday. Guesses are 2 for $1. CLOTHING DRIVE Our clothing drive is running again and collection day is next Thursday 26 th March at 9am. Bags are attached to the newsletter with all the details. If you need more bags please see the office or you can use any plastic bags you have at home. NEXT MEETING Our next meeting is Wednesday 25 th of March at 3.30 in the staffroom. We would love as many of you to come along as possible. Even if you only have an hour or two through out the year to help all input is greatly appreciated. We will be planning the rest of our events for the rest of this year at this meeting. CRAFT GROUP Craft group is back on next Monday, 23 rd of March 9am in the science room. Come along for a chat coffee and some craft. No experience needed but all new ideas are greatly appreciated. All craft made will go to the Mothers and Fathers day stalls during the year. Day includes: interactions with dingo, python, off-limits animals, feeding animals & food prep, animal enrichment activities, fun and games for ages 7-14 years.
