The weather there is very yellow! Northern Smurf Village has many zebras, and they make fuzzy basketballs there. Many people also go to London to ball or see the llamas. The people that live there love to eat armadillos and are very proud of their big paperclip. They also like to fight in the sun and swim in the piranha pool! It was a really exciting trip! Our Story is a Mad-Libs style creation, put together each month by the newspaper staff.
3 PAGE 3 By: amartin How many years have you been teaching in Mackinaw City? This is my 5 th year teaching at MCHS. Where did you graduate from high school and college? I graduated high school from Pellston in I earned my associates (2 year) degree from NCMC. I earned my bachelors (4 year) degree from Central Michigan University. Fire Up Chips! Did you ever switch your major(s)? No. From my very first semester I geared my courses toward a major in mathematics, minor in biology. What is your favorite part of teaching? (Why?) My favorite part of teaching is watching my students gain confidence in their abilities, and take pride in their accomplishments. This is a sign of growth and maturity, and I love being part of that. J What types of college classes did you have to take to be a teacher? Lots and lots of math and biology to complete my major and minor. Additionally, I took methods courses that focused on important aspects of presenting material in class. If you teach more than one subject, which is your favorite? (Why?) Geometry has always been my favorite, but I really do enjoy them all. Biology is starting to be one of my favorite classes too, as each year I am finding more and more ways to teach the subject actively by incorporating projects and labs. Do you like teaching at a small school? (why/ why not?) I LOVE teaching at a small school. It can have its challenges, but the rewards are so much greater! We are all very lucky to be surrounded by people that care for us so deeply. MCHS is a special place! By: Ham This year s baseball team has had some struggles throughout the season. With only 10 players and ineligibility a factor, the team has had to play games with only 9 guys. They are 7-9 overall and 5-3 in the conference, beating Boyne Falls and Wolverine in two games, splitting with Ellsworth, and losing two close games to Alanson. Tonight s game is Parents Night, supporting Conrad Prevo and Zach Valot against St. Ignace at home. Come out and support the Comets! Parent s Night is tonight to honor our senior baseball and softball players! By: T-Mar What s your favorite class this year? Shop What s your least favorite class this year? All the Others Caption describing picture or graphic. What will you miss most about High School? Not too much Where are you planning to attend college? I plan to go to the school of visual Arts What are your plans of study? Advertising

Would you rather be a sad millionaire or a happy poor person? 4. Would you rather be able to fly or run really fast? 5. Would you rather not know how to swim or how to jump? By: King Ru$$ NBA: The conference finals have already started. The West consists of the 73-9 Golden State Warriors and the Oklahoma City Thunder. The most favored to win is the Golden State Warriors, led by the NBA KIA MVP Stephen Curry and his splash brother Klay Thompson, but right now they trail 1-3 behind the NBA best duo which consist of the runner up MVP Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant. The East consists of the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Toronto Raptors. The favored team to win this series is the Cleveland Cavaliers, led by Lebron James and Kyrie Irving who are tied in the series 2-2 before last night s game, but the Toronto Raptors had a huge Game 3 win in Toronto. In that game, Demar Derozan had 32 points and Kyle Lowry had fallen into foul trouble, so the backup point guard Cory Joseph did more than fill in his spot with 14 points and helped his teammates score with a couple of assists. By: Choco Taco The Class of 2016 had a blast on Grad Night. They enjoyed 9 holes of golf at the Mackinaw Club. Lily, Brianna, and Zachary all got to go to the top of the towers on the Mackinaw Bridge. Seniors were then treated to a plane ride around the straits. Then all thirteen of them climbed on a boat to Mackinac Island for a carriage tour to the Grand Hotel for dinner. Then it was back to Mackinaw for two and a half hours at the Holiday Inn for swimming. Special thanks to Mr. Stefanski for organizing the event and a shout out to all of the businesses for helping contribute to Project Graduation.

Local scholarships are to be rewarded, congratulations to all of whom will receive the scholarships, and congratulations to our class of 2016! By: Chef The softball team has been missing some key players in these last few games. Even though they haven t won every game they wanted to, they have accomplished many things. Kayla Gallagher did a great job pitching and Samantha Somers had an out of the park home run. Last Friday and this past Monday, the bats have been flying and the girls have been racking up singles, doubles, triples, and lots of runs and RBIs! They play today at home against St. Ignace.
7 PAGE 7 By: Conrad Prevo What year did you graduate? 2012 What did you do after high school? After high school I started college at CMU and signed my major to accounting. I have an accounting major and a minor in information systems. I have plans to attend graduate school and pursue either an MBA or MSIS at CMU after finishing my entire major and minor requirements for my BASA in accounting. Favorite high school memory? I loved being in Rube Goldberg after school. Even though we didn t win, and I tripped over our machine and set it off early during the competition. It was so much fun to build something like that, and think logically about how to do so. Working as a team was such a big role in that after school activity, and I still have part of the Rube Goldberg machine. It comes with me everywhere I move. How was your experience at MCHS? My experience was wonderful. I m so thankful to been given the opportunity to go to s such amazing school. All the staff really cares so much about students, the students are friendly and I felt happy, safe, and comfortable every day being among my peers. The education was amazing. I really had a head start compared to others staring their freshman year at CMU. I loved that I was able to take 3 years of accounting and some business classes in High school. Favorite teacher? Favorite teacher? That s so hard to pick. I loved all of my teachers. All of them were great and impacted my life differently in a positive way, but if I have to pick it s between Ms.lee and Mrs. Rivera. What tips do you have for the younger generation? Education is so important, life is not permanent. Embrace the change, and you are an amazing person, beautiful inside and out. Don t forget to love yourself. fr By: Chef Call of Duty has recently released a new DLC (Downloadable Content) for their newest game Black Ops 3. The DlC includes 4 multiplayer maps (Spire, Knockout, Rift, and Verge) and a new zombie map called Zetsubou No Shima.
