The group of kids has been working really hard on the play and can t wait to debut their extraordinary play and drama skills. 5 Page 5 By: Choco Taco NBA This NBA season is turning out to be a good one. The western conference contains two teams that are red hot this season. The Golden State Warriors (52-5) and the San Antonio Spurs (49-9) are lighting up the NBA. Both are almost guaranteed to go to the playoffs and have set records throughout the season. The Cavs and the Raptors of the east are also two of the best. Both are also playoff contenders. NHL The NHL is also heating up, with Chicago hoping to repeat as Stanley Cup champions and the Washington Capitals running away in the Eastern Metropolitan division. The Florida Panthers are still on the top of the Atlantic division thanks to a long win streak in December and January. The Los Angeles Kings and the Anaheim Ducks are fighting for the Pacific Crown. Early this January, Ski Club had a late start to the season due to the lack of snow. Ski club has included elementary students, along with middle and high school students. Thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Rogala (along with several other parents who have driven), we have been able to go several times so far this season. If weather permits, we will have a Ski By: Quan Club outing tonight, and we will meet at the school at 4:45. By: Ham How has this season been going so far? It has been pretty good. 6 Page 6 The volleyball team is getting lots of experience, and since there aren t many players they are getting lots of playing time. The team is getting coached by Mrs. Brey. The 8 th grade students that are playing are Lauren Backus, Calysta Bell and Autumn Collins. The 7 th graders playing are Jenna Wiertalla and Keera Currie. 8 Page 8 The girl s JV and varsity basketball teams wrapped up the regular season this week. Thursday night they had a game against Central Lake, along with Parent s Night. Next week, starting Monday night, we will be hosting the first game of districts against Harbor Light at 7:30 p.m. in the gym. On Friday, the winner of Monday night s game will play in districts finals at 7 p.m. against the win- By: Quan ner of the Pellston/ Alanson game. All district games will be held in our gym. The boys have done really well recently in conference games. They have defeated Alba on the road on February 8 th. They defeated Harbor Light on the road Monday February 15 th. They defeated Alba at home in a makeup game on Wednesday February 17 th. They will play in Districts the week of March They play first against Harbor Light; if they win they will play By: Mouse Pellston. They would face winner of NMC Burt Lake Christian/Alanson in district finals.
