On the line was a ticket to the state tournament in St Paul. The Cardinals tied Cathedral earlier in the season 3-3. This was a high fast paced hard hitting game from the start. Both teams came out firing on all cylinders, pucks flying, intense action and great hockey skills by both teams. Cathedral scored first at 10:38 of the first period. That would be the only scoring of the period. A well-played period by both teams, only 1 penalty in the period and St Cloud had the lead 1-0 after 1 period of play. The second period brought more of the same action with no scoring until a 1:28 left in the period when Cathedral scored to make it 2-0. They were not done, they scored again with 15 seconds left to gain a 3-0 lead after1 period of play. Only 2 penalties, both on St Cloud in the 1 st 2 periods. The Cardinals had dug themselves a bit of a hole going into the 3 rd period down 0-3. It didn t take long for the Cardinals to take step up with a beauty of a goal by Jack Westlund with helpers going to Jr Jack Powell and Sr Captain Wade Smith. A 5-minute Power Play for checking from behind by St Cloud by both gave the Cards a man advantage. It didn t take long for Sr Derek Berning to score to get the Cards within 1. Some good opportunities by both teams but that is the way the games ended. Bailey Roush had a great effort in goal and had 34 saves in the game. 3-2 St Cloud Cathedral.

2 What a great crowd last night at the MAC. The students and youth hockey players, Fans and parents came out in a big way and supported the Cardinals. It was like a home game at the RCC. Alexandria is a great hockey town and they support their teams. Thank You everyone! The Final Score tonight St Cloud Cathedral 3 Alexandria 2. The Cardinals finished the year Thanks again to all of the Students, Parents and Fans for supporting your High School Varsity and Junior Varsity teams this year. BOYS BASKETBALL JV Alexandria 48 SC Tech 41 In a game where nothing seemed to come easy, the JV Team was able to work through a tough night to get a win. The beginning of the game started out back and forth with neither team playing a clean game. At the mid-half mark, the Cards were able to grab the lead, which they would hang onto for the remainder of the game at the half. The second half was sloppy for both teams as well, but the Cards were able to put a few mini-runs together to increase the lead to near double digits. The Tigers did not go away easy as they continued to answer on their offensive end, keeping the game within reach. In the closing minutes the cards were able to handle the ball and hit a few key free throws to seal the game. The JV Team will finish their season tonight at home against Detroit Lakes. BOYS BASKETBALL B SQUAD Alexandria 59 St Cloud Tech 47 The Alexandria B squad took on the Tech Tigers Thursday night. This is a team we struggled with when we played them at Tech, getting a hard fought 3 point win. Early on it looked like it would be more of the same as the Tigers jumped to an early lead. After a couple of quick timeouts, the young Cards got things straightened out...the change started with our defense. We went on a 17-0 run getting easy shots off of turnovers. We carried a lead into the half and the second half was more of the same as we built the lead to 27 with a couple of minutes to go. Everybody got to play and everyone contributed in a good win. We finish our season tomorrow at home with Detroit Lakes. FIRST ROBOTICS Alexandria robotics team Mechatronics 3313 will be playing qualification rounds today and tomorrow morning. This is being live streamed at we are the Northern Lights Regional. We will be in matches 7, 15, 27, 39, 45 and 57 today. Tomorrow we will be in matches 70 and 76. Our updated rank will also show on this site. Hopefully you can also watch us in the finals! Thank you for all of the support! ACADEMIC SECTION CHAMPIONS Congratulations to the CARDINAL DANCE TEAM for being named the SECTION ACADEMIC CHAMPIONS. Congratulations to the CARDINAL GIRLS HOCKEY TEAM for being named the SECTION ACADEMIC CHAMPIONS. PERFORMERS OF THE WEEK Mack Strong has been named Central Lakes Conference Performer of the Week in Boys Hockey. In two section games - Mack scored 4 goals and one assist. Kristin Trosvig has been named Central Lakes Conference Performer of the Week in Girls Hockey. In the three state tournament games, Kristin scored 5 points, including the game winner short-handed goal in the Consolation Championship. Congratulations Mack and Kristin!

Paul Westerberg is the AAHS athletic trainer provided by Heartland Orthopedic Specialists. He has been the AT here for 14 years. If you have any questions or are interested in athletic training feel free to contact Paul! WRESTLERS All 7-12 Grade Wrestlers must attend a mandatory meeting on Tuesday March 7 th in the AAHS Wrestling room at 3:30. The purpose of this meeting is to turn in all equipment, vote on team awards, discuss off season activities and complete a season survey. All equipment must be turned in at this time or the Athlete will be billed for replacement cost of the items. BASEBALL MEETING There will be a preseason meeting for all boys interested in playing baseball this spring on Monday, March 6 th at 3:30 pm in AAHS room B182/B183 BASEBALL PARENT MEETING 9-12 Baseball Parent Meeting will be held March 20th 7:00-7:30 in AAHS Room B SOFTBALL PRACTICE BEGINS MARCH softball will be starting practicing March 13th from 10:00 AM -12:00 PM in AAHS gyms 4 and 5. 4 A & B Days if School is Closed We apologize for any confusion there may have been regarding A & B Days at AAHS following snow days when school closes. Due to the fact that AAHS interacts with many business partners and we have many speakers set up to come into the classrooms, the A & B Day schedule is set and remains the same regardless of snow days. For example, Monday, November 21 st was scheduled to be a B Day. AAHS was closed on Friday, November 18 th due to the snowstorm and it was an A Day. Therefore, Monday, November 21 st remained a B Day. If we have a number of snow days and they all happen to be on A Days (or all on B Days), then administration will re-evaluate and may change the AB schedule near the end of each semester to make sure students are receiving the same number of A & B Days. You will be informed if the AB schedule changes near the end of the semester.
