This historic event aims to share Sts ailes culture and traditions in this beautiful location on the shores of Harrison Hot Springs. As hosts, we are proud to endorse this event with the support of the Harrison Festival Society, Tourism Harrison and the many volunteers who make it possible. These festivities are a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together on the traditional lands of the Sts ailes and celebrate the time-honoured tradition of canoe racing. 4 HISTORY OF SASQUATCH DAYS The very first Sasquatch Days had taken place on May 23rd & 24th of 1938 and was attended by over 2000 First Nations people from across Canada and United States. The Minister of Lands of the province of BC, Honorable A. Wells Grey, was on hand to open this grand event and in turn a ceremony was held for the Minister where he was made an honorary Chieftain by then Chief Michael Peters. The Minister was now to also be known as Siam Chee quets Sasquatch or Chief Sasquatch. He was honored with this name because the old one s spoke of the Sasq ets being a guardian of the forest for thousands of years, long before the time of man, and by giving this high honor to the Minister he would do right by his title and continue to protect the lands to which were respected so deeply by the indigenous and settlers alike. Now, with the return of Sasquatch Days in 2012 as a partnership between Sts ailes and Harrison Hot Springs, it has reignited a tradition in the spirit of collaboration and friendship. A rendering of the Sasq ets was carved into a mask for the 1938 Sasquatch Days and worn by its carver, Ambrose Point. is coveted mask went missing for over 70 years before it was found at the Museum of Vancouver and repatriated to Sts ailes in May The mask returned to Sasquatch Days in 2014 to lead the opening ceremonies. THE SASQUATCH The Sasquatch has a long and rich history for the Sts ailes and the Village of Harrison Hot Springs. For the Sts ailes, the Sasquatch carries significant spiritual meaning and teachings. The word Sasquatch is an anglicised pronunciation of Sasq ets, a Sts ailes word that tells a story of how Sasquatch is a primary caretaker of the land. The Sts ailes oral stories about the Sa:sq ets have been passed down for generations. For the Village of Harrison Hot Springs, international attention occurred in 1957 when the Village Council launched an expedition in search of the beings. is reignited the search with the late John Green, a local resident and newspaper journalist, leading the charge which quickly spread to encompass the entire Pacific Northwest. Today, we continue to honor one of North America s preeminent Sasquatch Researchers. His memory lives on, as does the search for Sasquatch SASQ'ETS MASK Today, it rests with the Sts ailes in their Siyam Awtxw Chief and Council Chambers. A replica mask is danced by the Sts ailes Sasquatch Dance Group to honor the Sasq ets and the Sasq ets mask.

7 CANOE RACE RULES 1. Skips must have 1 foot on ground at marked starting line (Marked by Orange Flags and Land Judge) 2. All Canoes must complete a LEFT hand turn around buoys 3. All Canoes MUST finish at marked finished line, for 6 s & 11 s finish line will be between buoys 4. NO hooking, NO Holding opponent s canoe, NO clubbing 5. Jr. Buckskin <13 and Buckskin <16 ID required 6. Any conflicts will be determined by Judges on shore and Boats 7. In order to protest you MUST be a participant of the race and must go to the MC Table within 5 minutes of the last canoe coming to shore 8. Judges decisions are FINAL 9. Skippers Meeting at 9:30am on both days, races will start at 10am 10. Travel Money will be paid to all canoe clubs who register and attend races on both days 11. Prize money will be awarded after each race at MC Table (next to Plaza) Canoe Etiquette Please respect the loving time and hand-power that has gone into creating these beautiful canoes. Some of these canoes are very old and looked after with loving care. Do not touch the canoes! Do not walk under the canoes! Canoes have the right-of-way!

10 SASQUATCH MUSEUM GRAND OPENING MUSEUM OPENS FROM 10AM - 4PM JUNE To celebrate Sasquatch Days, we are hosting our Sasquatch Museum Grand Opening this weekend! ADMISSION IS BY DONATION. We will be joined by local Sasquatch Investigator, Thomas Steenberg, who will be on-site Saturday & Sunday from 11:00am - 2:00 pm. He will be available to answer any questions and will be signing books. Saturday, June 16th we will have face-painting by Green Momma Creations from 10:30 am - 3:00 pm. *All face-painting is by donation and will benefit the Agassiz-Harrison Food Bank. The first 100 visitors to arrive will be able to enjoy some Sasquatch themed cupcakes! Complete our Sasquatch Trek and receive a Hot Springs Harry button; the trek information is available on-site at the Museum and Visitor Centre or available on the Tourism Harrison App, free on Google Play or the App Store. There will also be a door prize for a Hot Springs Harry Stuffie!
