3 Page 3 Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant, Inc. Dear Pageant Family and Friends, Welcome to the Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Diamond State Princess/Prince Program (DSP)! We are excited to have you as a part of our upcoming Miss Arkansas' Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant to be held June 9-13, 2015 at The Center for the Arts Theater, 2209 S Knoxville Ave, Russellville, Arkansas This year we are excited to have 36 young women competing for the title of Miss Arkansas' Outstanding Teen We are equally as excited that you have chosen to be a part of such an outstanding opportunity in our Princess & Prince Program. You will have many memorable experiences this summer. Who knows, we may have a future Miss Arkansas' Outstanding Teen or America's Outstanding Teen in our group! The Diamond State Princess & Prince Program will again this year accompany the contestants onstage during competition and at the Arrival ceremony as well as other events throughout the Miss Arkansas' Outstanding Teen week. We are also excited that our Diamond State Princess & Prince Class 2015 will have an opportunity to spend time with our current Miss Arkansas' Outstanding Teen 2014 Ashton Yarbrough. This is an incredible opportunity for our princess/prince class 2015 to meet an amazing young woman who has done so much for our state and the Miss Arkansas' Outstanding Teen Program this past year. Not to mention spending time with local titleholders who want to be Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen We hope your involvement with our program gives you a better understanding of the Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Program, its purpose and benefits. We strive to give our youth the opportunity for personal growth and the skills needed to excel in life. Through the Diamond State Princess & Prince Program we extend this unique opportunity to each of you. 4 Page 4 Congratulations! As a Diamond State Princess/Prince you have been selected to take part in the prestigious 2015 Arkansas Outstanding Teen Pageant. This is a wonderful way to get a behind the scenes and see view of what it takes to represent our wonderful state. The Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant, Inc. is pleased to present you with our Diamond State Princess & Prince Program Information Packet/Manual. Many new and exciting things are happening with the Diamond State Princess & Prince Program. Again this year we will be including the Diamond State Princess & Prince Program with Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant. This will allow our youth the opportunity to participate with the Teen Program during pageant week on the Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen stage. We will stage our pageant production at the Russellville Center for the Arts on June 9-13, Parade and Arrival Ceremonies will be held Tuesday night downtown Russellville June 9, Rehearsal will begin June 10th for this year s Eleventh year of Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Pageant. The MAOT DSP program will provide the following with your Registration Fee: Official Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Princess Crown/Prince Medal Three season tickets to Miss Arkansas Outstanding Pageant (1 for DSP 2 for parent or guardian) Photograph in the Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Program Book DSP Party DSP Paint Party Free T-Shirt Cheer Pom Poms Please fill out completely all required forms included in this manual and use the checklist to make sure your application is complete. 5 Page 5 DIAMOND STATE PRINCESS/PRINCE PROGRAM GENERAL INFORMATION The Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Diamond State Princess/Prince (DSP) Program is for young girls/boys age 4 to 12 (copy of birth certificate will be required) at the time of the state teen pageants on June 9-13, 2015 in The Center for the Arts in Russellville, Arkansas. Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen competitions will be held Thursday- June 11, Friday- June 12, and Saturday Night Finals June 13, The purpose of this program is to mentor those young ladies who have an interest in competing someday in the Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant. The current teen local title holders will serve as mentors to all youth in the Diamond State Princess & Prince Program. The pageant this summer will feature the Princesses/Princes as part of production number during Preliminaries and Finals with Ashton Yarbrough, Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen All Princesses/Princes will participate in the evening wear production with their Miss Titleholder /Mentor, as well as an onstage production numbers during the preliminary nights. The production numbers include Taylor Swift s hit song Shake it Off and our MAOT traditional song Someday I Will Be Miss America. We are excited to announce our first MAOT DSP CAMP which will be held at Patty Tackett s dance studio DANCE CITY STUDIO in Hot Springs. MAOT DSP CAMP APRIL 25, 2015 Where: Dance City Studio Malvern Avenue - Hot Springs, Arkansas Time: 11:00-3:00 Patty Tackett Choreographer - Phone: Sharon Wilson DSP Director Phone Leslie Crutchfield DSP Co-Director The MAOT DSP Camp will be a day of instruction, fun, and information. You will learn all you need to know to be prepared for Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen DSP week. You will get to learn the DSP production numbers and who knows maybe a "Star" will be born. The DSP and parents will get to meet the others in their DSP Class. Sharon Wilson will inform you of what to expect during the MAOT Week. The Community Service project will be announced, practice and production attire discussion, etc. Patty has requested your DSP wear comfortable clothing and tennis or jazz shoes and bring bottled water. DSP REGISTRATION PACKETS WILL BE TURNED IN AT THE MAOT DSP CAMP! During On-stage Evening Wear Competition each Diamond State Princess is to provide her own white dress (long or short-age appropriate) for evening wear with their TEEN Titleholder. A DSP PRINCE will need a black tuxedo/suit. All Princesses/Princes will be entertaining on stage every night and again on Saturday night. During the Shake it Off production number the DSP will wear a Cheer Uniform which you will be given an order form during the MAOT DSP CAMP in Hot Springs. The cheer uniform will be red/white with the MAOT Logo! The price of the cheer uniform is less than $ MAOT will provide the Pompoms. The Princesses are asked to wear their crown at all Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen (MAOT) sponsored events and the Princes are asked to wear their medallions. A complete working schedule will be forwarded to you once times have been finalized for all events and rehearsals.
6 Once again, the Princesses/Princes will be participating in a Community Service project to raise money for Children s Miracle Network Hospitals. We are still working on finalizing the plans, and will let you know as soon as possible what the princess/prince will be doing. FOLLOW US ON FACEBOOK The Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen (MAOT) DSP program has two groups set up on Facebook for you. We have a general MAOT DSP group that will give your friends and family MAOT information all year long. The MAOT DSP Class 2015 group is for registered DSP's for that year and called the "MAOT DSP Class of 2015". This group will get specific information for events and activities. After your year in the DSP Class you will be moved to the overall general group and then a new class will be set up for the next year. COMMUNICATION TO CLASS VIA FACEBOOK If you (your child) is a MAOT DSP CLASS MEMBER: A class member is an MAOT DSP that has submitted paperwork, MAOT DSP registration payment and will be in the group participating in the MAOT Pageant that year. All MAOT DSP Paperwork and payment will be turned in at MAOT DSP Camp APRIL 25, 2015, Do not mail or DSP paperwork. After the MAOT DSP Director receives your complete application packet you will be placed in the Secret Facebook group for communication purposes by the MAOT DSP Director/Committee. FOLLOW MAOT DSP ALL YEAR LONG: We use Facebook as a communication tool. The structure of this social media tool meets our need at this time and will provide you with the information to find the MAOT DSP groups on Facebook. The general MAOT DSP group name is MAOT-DSP-Diamond State Princess- Prince Program and the facebook address is: Your family and friend may follow the DSP program in one of three ways: Just pick your way to get to the general MAOT DSP site one of these ways: 1. and click on the Facebook icon at the bottom of the page 2. Rehearsals during the week are very casual (warm ups, jeans, leggings, etc); you will receive a MAOT WORKING SCHEDULE for MAOT Week. The auditorium is cool during rehearsals, so some type of sweater or jacket would be advisable.
7 PRINCESS/PRINCE CROWNING: Girls or boys desiring to be a n MAOT Diamond State Princess/Prince and do not have a MAOT contestant are invited to participate and we will be assigned the DSP to an MAOT contestant. Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Contestants will have an Arrival Ceremony and Parade Tuesday, June 9, :00 p.m. There will be a Princess Crowning and Prince Medallion Presentation following the MAOT PARADE. MAOT PARADE route will begin at THE DEPOT Downtown Russellville (The MAOT Parade will start and end at The Depot) MISCELLANOUS: All MAOT Diamond State Princesses/Princes and their families are responsible for their housing and meals during the pageant week activities. Check the Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Website News tab for hotel information as it becomes available at: ADDITIONAL TICKETS: You may visit our website to print our ticket form or call Marietta Jerome at Your DSP Entry will provide you with one ticket for DSP and two tickets for guardians. PHOTOS AND PROGRAM BOOKS: There will be a special section in the 2015 Miss Arkansas Pageant Outstanding Teen Program Book devoted to the Diamond State Princess/Prince. The deadline for this form and the required photo will be April 25, Please submit the following: ONE PHOTOGRAPH: The photo should be a head shot (COLOR). Your full name and the name of the Miss Titleholder you are representing should be included in the CD label. Please no crowns/sashes in the photo. If parents(s) desire to submit ad page(s) in support of the Diamond State Princess/Prince program they are welcomed at a cost of $400 per color page (please no partial pages). Ads must be placed on a CD Camera ready and submitted by CD by placing the CD in the DSP application packet received by April 25th. Any ad pages for the princess/prince are purely voluntary and in no way will impact her participation in the Diamond State Princess/Prince Program. Please review the information requested for the program book EXACTLY as you wish it to appear with the photo and on the Program Book & Script form. The pageant reserves the right to refuse any ad page in its sole discretion, for reason including but not limited to dubious content, political content, or content pertaining to gambling, tobacco, or liquor. Please print to alleviate any errors. DSP PHOTO REQUIREMENTS Place Photo CD in your Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen DSP Packet. Your CD should be labeled with DSP Name. The Photo CD is to be turned in with all required forms and registration fee are to be placed in one extra large envelope and turned in at MAOT DSP Camp with all other documents.

10 Page 7 Statement of Understanding As parent/guardian of, we are hereby submitting her/his application to the Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant for approval by the state pageant Executive Director. We agree to conduct ourselves at all times in a professional manner as to not embarrass our daughter/son in the Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant. We will ensure that our daughter/son will conduct herself/himself in the proper manner at all times. We further understand that it is at the sole discretion of the state pageant director when an invitation will be extended to the princess/prince to attend various activities within the local pageant jurisdiction with the local titleholder including the extent of the involvement of the princess/prince in the production number(s) at the local pageant. The director s decision will be based in whole or in part on whether the function is age appropriate and how beneficial it is to the mentoring process of the princess/prince. We understand that the Diamond State Princess/Prince Program at the state level is not a competition, but one of a mentoring and learning process conducted by the Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant, Inc. and agree to abide by all decisions made by the organization relative to the Diamond State Princess/Prince Program. 11 Page 8 General Rules and Suggestions for MAOT Diamond State Princess/Prince 1. The Diamond State Princess/Prince Directors and committee have complete charge of all activities during pageant week. The DSP Director(s) and committee names are listed in this document. They have full authority to make decisions governing contact with Diamond State Princess/Prince. 2. No one is permitted backstage at any time, except security, stage personnel, and pageant officials. The DSP will have a designated room and should not enter back stage unless getting ready to perform and they will be escorted at that time. 3. All problems or complaints should be reported to the Diamond State Princess/Prince Director. 4. From the time a Princess/Prince arrives in Russellville for the pageant, until the pageant is completed; a princess/prince is under the jurisdiction of the Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant, Inc. and must abide by its rules and regulations. 5. For the safety of your child you must follow the safety rules and regulations. 6. Your child will only be released to the Parent/Guardian after a DSP event. The safety of your child is our first priority. 7. Any Parent, Princess/Prince whose conduct is deemed unbecoming by the Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant, Inc, the DSP Director or DSP Committee, or the Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Executive Director will ask you to withdraw from the Diamond State Princess/Prince Program with no refund of any fees. Such request is at the sole discretion of the Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant, Inc. and the Princess/Prince, her parent and/or guardian hereby agree to abide by that request without disruption and indemnify the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant, Inc. or Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Pageant should that occur. 8. Bring with you all rehearsal material, (shoes, jacket, etc) for those long rehearsals, because it does get cold in the auditorium. Layering your attire is suggested. 9. All Princesses/Prince must be checked in and out with their Diamond State Princess/Prince Directors or Committee member at all Official Princess/Prince events during pageant week, which will include arrival, production rehearsals, each night of preliminary competition, and the final night. 10. ALL FORMS, PICTURES, AND $ fee is due April 25, Payment is by check, money order. No CREDIT CARDS. Made payable to: Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Pageant, Inc. 11. Transportation, Housing, and Meals: You must provide your own transportation while participating in the Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant/Diamond State Princess/Prince Program. All Diamond State Princesses/Princes, their families, and friends are responsible for their housing and meals and other expenses during the pageant and pageant activities. I understand the DSP package will include the Official Miss Arkansas DSP Crown or Medallion - Three season tickets to the Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Pageant for each night (1 ticket for DSP and 2 tickets for parents/guardian) - Photograph provided by the DSP placed in the Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Program Book - Participation is the DSP Parties and DSP T-shirt 12. A GUARDIAN 18 YEARS OR OLDER MUST BE PRESENT AT ALL FUNCTIONS 13. Transportation is the responsibility of the parent or guardian**** I HAVE READ THE ABOVE GENERAL RULES AND SUGGESTIONS FOR DIAMOND STATE PRINCESS/PRINCE AND AGREE TO ABIDE BY THE SAME. 12 Page 9 PRECEPTS OF CONDUCT FOR DIAMOND STATE PRINCESS/PRINCE The Precepts of Conduct for Diamond State Princess/Princes are the foundation upon which the image and reputation of the Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant Diamond State Princess/Princes Program has been built and will continue to be the basis for its operation. 1. A Diamond State Princess/Prince will conduct himself/herself at all times with dignity, grace, and good manners of young women & men who exemplify the integrity of American youth. 2. A Diamond State Princess/Prince must observe all rules and regulations from the time of his/her arrival in Russellville until his/her departure. She/he must register by the official designated time and remain through checkout as determined by the DSP pageant staff. 3. A Diamond State Princess/Prince will not participate in any interview, picture, and press contact, or any type of publicity unless a member of the Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant committee is present. 4. A Diamond State Princess/Prince will not attend parties, meetings, and social events, or make any public appearances other than at regularly scheduled events of the Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant. 5. The Diamond State Princess/Prince, parents/guardians, hereby (a) recognize that such decisions and actions taken by the Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant and Diamond State Princess/Prince Program and its personnel are at the sole discretion of the Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant and Diamond State Princess/Prince Program, (b) agree to abide and accept such actions and decisions without disruption to the Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Diamond State Princess/Prince Program, and (c) agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant and Diamond State Princess/Prince Program. 13 PAGE 10 INFRACTION OF RULES AND PRECEPTS OF CONDUCT If a Diamond State Princess /Prince' conduct is deemed unsatisfactory by the Director of the Pageant Committee and by this conduct the image and good name of the Miss Arkansas Diamond State Princess/Prince Program is deemed to be jeopardized, the following procedure is followed: 1. The Director of the Pageant Committee will issue a warning to the Princess/Prince in the presence of another Pageant Official. The Princess /Prince parent(s)/guardian will be notified immediately. 2. If the condition causing this warning is corrected, no further action will be taken. 3. If the condition is not corrected, the Director of the Pageant Committee will notify the Executive Director of the Miss Arkansas OT Scholarship Pageant, Inc. She/he will be given all the particulars regarding the infraction of rules; further action would be the result of their decision. 4. What a Diamond State Princess/Prince does, where he/she goes, and how he/she conducts himself/herself while in Hot Springs for Pageant Week, are all governed, to a large degree by rules, regulations and demanding schedules. 14 PAGE 11 HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT I, (Hereinafter Princess/Prince ) having a current residence at (Full Permanent Address) Acknowledge (by witness of signature below) his/her application to participate in the Miss Arkansas OT Scholarship Pageant, Inc. Diamond State Princess/Prince Program, with production rehearsals/performances, June 9-13, 2015 at The Center for the Arts in Russellville, AR and other locations used for appearances of the Diamond State Princesses and Prince. As part of his/her participation in this event, it is the Diamond State Princess/Prince's (parent) responsibility to confine and amend his/her performance to adapt to the constraints of the production requirements. The Diamond State Princess/Prince hereby agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant, Inc., the pageant committee, and other entities, which might be construed as liable from and against any and all claims for personal injuries, death, damages, cost, and/or other expenses including reasonable attorney s fees, arising from or in any way connected with the use of the facilities as above noted. The Diamond State Princess/Prince further agrees to solely be responsible for all equipment, stock-in-trade, personal property, etc., utilized in connection with the use of the premises, and Princess/Prince does hereby wave any right of recovery against the Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant, Inc., the pageant Committee, and any other entities, which might be constructed as being responsible for loss, damage, theft of such equipment, stock-in-trade, personal property, etc. This agreement is subject to termination by the Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant, Inc. without advance notice or penalty at any time. This agreement is Personal to the Diamond State Princess/Prince and may not be transferred or assigned. In witness whereof, this agreement has been executed as of the date indicated below.
