Her talks are diverse and she uses several modes of presentation including PowerPoint, video and drawing to engage and appeal to a variety of audiences. Her sessions include the process behind making a children s book, and lots of interesting facts about Australian Wildlife. The drawings she produces during her talk are donated to the class/library after her visit. Suitable for grades Pre-primary to year 6 with attendance of up to 90 per class. Like its Riddle Gully predecessor, her latest novel, Riddle Gully Runaway, will be the feature novel throughout Term 3 in 2015 in The West Australian newspaper s Education section. Jen s sessions can be summed up with this teacher s feedback: Children very engrossed good fun! Really worked at children's level. Highly recommend this. Great way to spend an hour! Kylie is part fish and has swum alongside Ningaloo whale sharks and manta rays, braved lionfish in Egypt, piranha and pink dolphins in the Amazon and marine iguanas and hammerhead sharks in The Galapagos Islands. Pre-primary to year/grade 3 with attendance of up to 60 per class. Join her for a fish-tastic read-aloud session and twist your tongue around some scooba-dooba scat singing fun. Mix up musical instruments to create your own jazzy characters during a drawalong Jazz fish demonstration and discover how Kylie illustrated Fish Jam using paintings and textures created with her two young boys during their backyard art sessions. Justin is one of Australia s greatest authors having written over 40 books for children and young adults, including the hugely popular Extreme Adventures and Mission Fox series. His new series, Lost World Circus, is his latest hit. Justin is very popular with middle and upper primary aged children. Justin will tell tall tales about his books, his life and his characters. 7 You re invited Children s Book Week June 2015 Dear Teachers The Grove Library is celebrating Children s Book Week in 2015 with a diverse programme. This year, Children s Book Week runs at the Grove from Saturday 22 August - Friday 28 August, and the theme is BOOKS LIGHT UP OUR WORLD!. An exciting programme is planned, including Sally Murphy, Jen Banyard, Kylie Howarth and Justin D Ath. A copy of the programme of events is attached together with our Design a Poster Challenge details. Please pass these on to teachers who may be interested. Regrettably our programme is limited and places will be quickly filled. 8 The Grove Library Celebrates Children s Book Week Saturday 22 August - Friday 28 August Design a Poster Challenge We re BIG fans of Children s Book Week at The Grove Library and Book Week is now in its 70th year! This year s theme is BOOKS LIGHT UP OUR WORLD! The Library is holding a Design a CBW Poster challenge as part of this year s celebrations with this year s theme. Help light up the library by designing a poster which shows how books light up our world. All classes that enter will receive an art or craft materials for the class. Entries will be displayed in one of three groups: Kindergarten & Preschool Grades 1 & 2 Grade 3-6 The posters will be displayed at the library through August and Children s Book week, you can drop off your entries to The Grove Library during this time!
