Dear Brothers, It's hard to believe that we are almost at Thanksgiving. As we do every year, we will be distributing baskets on Monday the 22 nd, times will be announced at the meeting. If you can make it, it will be very worthwhile. Thanksgiving is a time when we look back and give thanks to all we have received. As President, I look back and I am thankful to all the members of the division who have made 61 what it is today. The hard work of these brothers have kept the true meaning of what it is to be a Hibernian alive. Sometime we take it for granted that someone else will do things, but these brothers never do. They are always there to help in any way they can. With that said we need more of us to Volume 11, Issue 9 A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT... step up to the plate and help. We need more volunteers with different functions at the division and home levels. We need your help. If you can help for just one thing it would be a great help. More of this will be discussed at the Nov. and Dec meetings. At this time I would like to thank Jack Gill, Steve Newton, and Tim Cawley for all the work they over saw at the club. The bathrooms are done and a new floor has been installed. Last but not least, the roof is finally done it has been a long time coming. I would also like to thank State Rep. If you are interested in any office let someone know. Wishing you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving. I am in our motto, Friendship, Unity, Christian Charity. 3 November Newsletter Page 3 C ELTIC FOOTBALL CLUB By: Mike Roman Henrik breaks Celtic Hearts It s time for us to hang up our Larssen scarves and flags, and if your number 7 jersey isn t under Juninho, hang that up too. Our beloved Henrik led his new team, Barcelona, into Parkhead for the opening round of Champions League play. And although he kept to his promise not celebrate if he scored, his goal, which followed a brilliant assist several minutes earlier, were enough to crush the faithful. Two shining moments that Celtic will not forget were the magnificent goal from Chris Sutton, and David Marshall s incredible performance against a Ronaldinho penalty kick Marshall s diving block to his left were reminiscent of his game against Barca in last years UEFA Cup quarterfinal. Barcelona 3, Celtic 2. NOTRE DAME FOOTBALL CLUB B Y : DENNY BOYLAN The 6th Annual Pig Roast will be held Saturday, November 27, :00PM The menu will consist of meatballs, baked ziti along with the roasted pig and dessert. All of this for only $ CASH BAR--Everyone is welcome!! Notre Dame Club members and their spouses are FREE!!! There is a limited number of this year's long sleeve mock turtleneck with the Notre Dame Football Club logo available for $ th Annual Soup & Chili Contest B Y : DENNY BOYLAN Sunday, November :00PM Immediately following the Mayfair Thanksgiving Parade CONTESTANTS NEEDED!! Just bring your soup or chili to the club (heated in a crock pot) Great prizes for the winners and our famous Golden Spam Award for the least palatable entry. $5.00 donation to taste and vote (will benefit our kids' division) Desserts would be greatly appreciated. SPL Surge hits a Bump Parkhead saw Camara score his first double early-on in September as the Hoops defeated Dundee 3-0. The Bhoys SPL unbeaten streak was snapped in a 2-2 draw against Hibernian on September 19. Adding to the speculation that we are our own worst enemy, one of the Hibs two was an own-goal by Celtic Defender Bobo Balde. Camara s second double came on September 25, as he netted two of three against Dunfermline, who were unable to score. Next Up for the Bhoys is an away match to AC Milan. Please see Celtic / Page 4 M ONDAY NIGHT F OOTBALL As a member of the Monday Night Football Club, I actually find myself looking forward to Mondays Monday nights that is. Okay, so maybe the fact that the Bengals, Bucs, Titans, and Chiefs have all played in the past few Monday night games don t let that hold you back from coming out and having a great time at the club. Jack H-A-G-G-E-R-T-Y and the gang have been doing a great job every Monday night serving up great food and thirst quenching drinks. If you still wish to join the Monday Night Football Club, it s not to late! There are still 18 games left, including Thanksgiving Day and playoffs games. You can now join the club for a discounted $54 or come out for just the night for just $10. Interested? See JACK at this month s meeting or for more information call him at All proceeds go to our division s scholarship fund and to the club Dues are now Due! So confident was Manager Martin O Neill, that he started usual subs Ross Wallace, Aiden McGeady, Paul Lambert, and goal tender Rab Douglas. Wallace scored a hat-trick, while Lambert and McGeady each contributed a goal in the routing. The competition drew attention during the Quarterfinal draw, with Celtic being paired against Rangers on November 10. The last time the Old Firm met in a League Cup match was the Final in March 2003 when the Huns beat Celtic 2-1. Celtic sign deal with NIKE Celtic has inked a 5-year 25 I RISH HERITAGE FESTIVAL Dear AOH members, You are cordially invited to attend the Irish Heritage Festival on November 18th, sponsored by the Irish Heritage Society of Rosemont College.
