1 Issue #80 July 2014 Message from Kelly & Susan It s July and that means summer fun with parades, amusement parks, the beach, picnics, rides, and oh yeah BikeFest and Roar on the Shore! Once again Harley- Davidson of Erie will be your destination for everything Harley- Davidson. If you enjoyed our inaugural event last year as much as we did, then we know you ll be even more excited with this year s event. We ve added more vendors, rides, entertainment, and contests to make the week more fun for everyone. This month s issue highlights all the events we have planned for the week so that you and your friends can join us for Erie s only bike week! You can also visit our website at for the latest information on the event schedule for BikeFest. On another note, the weather didn t cooperate very much for last month s Wild Wednesday Bike Nights at Buffalo Wild Wings, but we ve put that in our rear view mirror and invite you and your friends to join us for Erie s largest weekly bike nights remember that the bike night on Wednesday, July 16 will be held at our dealership for BikeFest and we have some great giveaways planned to celebrate! Sincerely, Kelly & Susan Lapping Red, White & Chrome Poker Run Saturday, July 12 BikeFest kick starts with our first charity ride of the week the 2 nd Annual Red, White & Chrome Poker Run to benefit the Erie County Chapter of the American Red Cross. All proceeds benefit this local organization that serves our community. Registration will be from 10 AM to Noon and the cost is $10/hand. Join us for the Roadhouse Party at Road Runners Bar & Grill after the ride from 6-9 PM and the awards presentations at 7:30. Bubba Blackwell Stunt Show Saturday, July 12 Harley-Davidson of Erie is pleased to welcome world record holder Bubba Blackwell to our dealership for BikeFest. If you have ever seen Bubba s stunt shows then you know how much fun it is for the entire family. Bubba will perform two (2) FREE shows on Saturday, July 12 and he will also be available for photos and autographs after each show.

2 Rhett Rotten s Wall of Death Show: July What s better than one Harley-Davidson stunt show? How about two! We are very excited to welcome the Rhett Rotten Wall of Death show back to Erie! After a three years hiatus from performing, Rhett is back with a vengeance and he will perform daily throughout the week only at Harley-Davidson of Erie starting on Saturday, July 12. BikeFest Roadhouse Parties: July If you want cold beverages, food, and entertainment all in one place then join us each night of the week from 4-9 PM for the BikeFest Roadhouse Party at Road Runners Bar & Grill. Also, take advantage of Happy Hour with DJ Bill Page from 5-7 with special food and drink specials sponsored by Dee Caruana Remax Realty. They will have 18 models that motorcycle enthusiasts can test ride including the all new 2015 Street 750 model!!! Make plans to visit our dealership Sunday, July 13 through Wednesday, July 16 and demo ride the 2014 Harley-Davidson motorcycle of your dreams between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tail of the Ox/Make-A-Wish Charity Events July 13 We are very pleased to welcome two local area charity events to BikeFest the Tail of the Ox Ride and Krista s Make-A-Wish Bike Show at Gravel Pit Park. You can register for both events at our dealership on Sunday, July 13 between 10 a.m. and noon. All Rover Town Scavenger Hunt July If you re like us, you enjoy riding your motorcycle and want to spend more time on scenic back roads exploring and visiting many of the local area attractions in our region. Well, if that describes you, then you need to participate in this year s All Rover Town Scavenger Hunt which starts on Saturday, July 12 at 10 AM and ends on Saturday, July 19 at 3 PM. Unlike other scavenger hunts, this is NOT A RACE to gather everything and return first. The idea is to get our and ride during the day and visit some of our favorite places throughout the Tri-State region and collect points for each location you visit. The more places you visit the more points you collect. You have a week to travel around and visit as many of the location as you wish. Return your completed official scavenger hunt form by 3 PM on Saturday, July 19 and the top three total points will win prizes. In the event that there are more than three entries with the same number of points, we will place them into a tumbler and pull the three winners randomly. The cost is $10 and you will receive a BikeFest bandanna. All proceeds benefit the Humane Society of Northwest Pennsylvania. Have fun and enjoy the ride!

3 Erie Police Motorcycle Skills Demo July 15 The Erie Police Department s motorcycle patrol division will provide a FREE motorcycle riding skills demonstration at our dealership on Tuesday, July 15 from 4:30 5:30 pm. Bring the family out to watch these officers demonstrate their riding skills and agility of their Harley-Davidson police motorcycles. 8 Great Tuesday BikeFest Concert July 15 Harley-Davidson of Erie and the Port Authority of Erie are proud to partner again this year for another 8 Great Tuesday BikeFest Concert. This year s concert will include music by Blue Sky and the Tommy Steele Band. Make plans to join us for an evening of fun at Erie s only motorcycle event on the bayfront! United by Independents Ride to Liberty Park July 15 Everyone loves a parade and Harley-Davidson of Erie will host the United by Independents Ride on Tuesday, July 15. Join musician Tommy Steele (concert headliner) for this FREE police escorted motorcycle ride that will leave our dealership at 6 pm and travel to Liberty Park for the 8 Great Tuesday BikeFest Concert. Vendor Harley-Davidson BikeFest: July Once again we are pleased to welcome some of the country s best motorcycle industry vendors to BikeFest. These vendors offer a variety of products including: LED lighting, custom wheels, seats, apparel, jewelry, and much more. Biker s Choice will have their tractor trailer here and it will be filled with a large variety of products available for purchase from our dealership. Most of these vendors attend national bike rallies such as Daytona and Sturgis and they are excited about being at BikeFest so we encourage everyone to come check out all the merchandise they offer for sale.

4 Harley-Davidson of Erie BikeFest Bike Night: July 16 Erie s largest bike night relocates to Harley-Davidson of Erie for one night only and this will be a bike night to remember with live music from the band Sour Mash, food and beverage specials, and some incredible giveaways! Some of the giveaways include exhaust pipes from Cobra, and a custom 21 front wheel from FTD Customs!!! You must be present for the drawing to win. Old School BikeFest People s Choice Bike Show July 17 If you love looking at vintage motorcycles as much as we do or if you own a pre-1984 motorcycle, then you need to attend the Old School Bike Show at BikeFest. Registration is from 10 am to noon and judging is from noon to 4 pm. Prizes will be awarded. Amy Bella s Bikini Bike Wash - July 18 & 19 Got a dirty bike? Amy Bella and her girls will be setup again at Harley- Davidson of Erie to clean your bike from 1-6 pm on Friday and 10 am to 6 pm on Saturday. Amy donates a portion of the proceeds to her favorite children s charity and she also poses for photos (a favorite with many of her male customers). Word is that many female riders have inquired about having Amy s husband, Jeff, or a couple other men available to clean their bikes we ll keep trying ladies. Meet Stars from AMC Show Game of Arms July 18 If you watched the hit show Game of Arms on AMC this spring them you know that Erie s Wrecking Crew was the big winner. We are very proud to welcome some of the stars on Friday, July 18 for a Meet and Greet from 4-5:30 pm at Road Runners Bar & Grill. Come say hello, take a photo, get an autograph, and maybe challenge one of the guys to an arm wrestling match! BikeFest Arm Wrestling Tournament July 19 If you re a fan of arm wrestling or want to test your skills, then make plans to attend the 1 st annual BikeFest arm wrestling tournament at Scooters Lounge on Saturday, July 19. Weigh-ins will be from 9 am to noon and the tournament starts at 1 pm. Scooters Lounge is located at 2802 Old French Road. There will be trophies and prizes awarded to winners of each weight class.

5 Tattoo & Beer Belly Contests July 19 We ve seen some pretty amazing tattoos and beer bellies over the years. If you have an impressive tattoo or beer belly then you need to make your way to Road Runners Bar & Grill on Saturday, July 19 for our BikeFest Tattoo and Beer Belly contests. This is a people s choice event so leave your inhibitions at home and be prepared to get up on stage and show the crowd what you got (no nudity) and you just might win a FREE tattoo and/or a case of Miller Lite beer! There is no cost to enter. Win A Customized 2014 H-D Street Glide July 19 This is the grand daddy prize of the week and we know everyone will agree that NOTHING COMPARES to this year s BikeFest Raffle a customized 2014 Harley-Davidson Street Glide! We have partnered with Miller Lite (Glenwood Beer Distributors in Erie) to donate this motorcycle to help raise money for two local charities that benefit children in our community Cody s Wheels of Hope and The AJO Forever Fund. Tickets are $20 each and only 3,500 will be sold will proceeds being split equally between both charities. If you haven t got your ticket, we strongly encourage you to do so quickly before they are all gone. Think how awesome it would be to have your name pulled on July 19 to win this customized $25,000 Harley-Davidson motorcycle and help two charities at the same time for only $20!!! I8 th Annual Roar on the Shore Bike Rally July The 8 th Annual Roar on the Shore Bike Rally will be held July in Erie, PA. Harley-Davidson of Erie has donated a new 2013 Harley-Davidson Seventy- Two Sportster that one lucky person will win on Saturday, July 19 th. Tickets are $20 each and ONLY 1,500 will be sold to raise money for this year s local area charity. Beat the crowd downtown and purchase your ticket(s) at Harley- Davidson of Erie now. Also, make plans to join us on Friday, July 18 for the Mayor s Ride around Presque Isle peninsula. This Roar on the Shore ride leaves our dealership at 5:30 pm and costs $10/bike.

6 Join The LARGE Crowds at Erie s #1 Summer Bike Nights! Well, the weather didn t cooperate last month with rain every bike night during June. But local motorcycle enthusiasts still flocked to Buffalo Wild Wings each week for Wild Wednesday Bike Nights. With hundreds of bikes, local area vendors, live music by local bands, giveaways, and great food and beverage specials each week it s easy to see why Wild Wednesday Bike Nights at Buffalo Wild Wings is the #1 weekly Bike Night in Erie each summer. If you haven t made it up to check out Wild Wednesday Bike Night, we invite you to ride your bike (all bikes are welcome) or drive up and join the fun you ll be happy you did!

7 June 15, 2014 Another Miles for Smiles poker run has come and gone. Like all other poker runs, the turnout is directly proportional to the favorability of the forecast for the day. Unfortunately the weather couldn t have been much worse for our biggest event of the year. Luckily the day started out dry so 226 dedicated bikers took a chance and registered for the ride. The rain held off for a while and most people didn t get wet until after the first stop at The Breakwall. Some of the riders skipped one or more stops, while most braved the elements and completed the course. Jackson Station and DJ Bill Page entertained the crowd as they attempted to dry off and get warm, and we were able to sell quite a few basket raffle tickets and tip boards. Everyone that I spoke with enjoyed the route that Doug Roxberry and Brian Kwitowski developed. Some people who didn t complete the ride want to go back at a later date and visit some of the stops that they missed. But it was the dedication and hard work of our Erie H.O.G. volunteers that made this event successful, despite the drenching rains. Tim Mannino, with the assistance of Jill Churchill, started planning this poker run during the early winter months. It takes a lot to coordinate venues, music, and personnel to ensure a smooth running event. When all was said and done, we ended up with over $6,000 to donate to the MDA to help send kids to summer camp. We will be receiving additional funds from the generosity of the fine people from the Edinboro-McKean VWF. This money includes $55 donated by Z102.3 radio from their prize wheel, $1,700 from banner ad sales, and also registration donations and LOH basket raffle. A sincere Thank You goes out to our major sponsors, Harley-Davidson of Erie & Glenwood Beer. Kelly & Susan donated coffee & donuts during registration, $500 in gift cards that we gave away or raffled off and much more. Now, we take a well deserved break and enjoy the riding season before starting to plan the 2015 MDA Miles for Smiles Run. Rest assured it will be a good one. That s all for now LET S RIDE!
