1 NSU SPT NEWS Nova Southeastern University Sport and Recreation Management Newsletter Volume 8, Issue 21, October 31, 2017 Students gathered around Cliff Floyd to celebrate his induction into the 2017 Broward County Sports Hall of Fame at the Broward Convention Center on Tuesday, October 24, Many of the students have worked on Cliff s Charity Bowling Tournament which has not only given them valuable experience but has contributed dollars to worthy causes including scholarships for SPT students. Check out additional pictures on the next two pages. Thank you to Stephen Rafferty, NSU 17, who took the pictures plus he made a video of the evening!

2 Mitch Moczygemba, Cameron Churchill, Samantha Rommel, Professor Olson, Kyle Kilbourne, Tommy Barberi and Alex Tabeek enjoyed networking at the reception and silent auction. Professor Olson caught up with NSU graduates Jim Shelley and Candice Johnson. Candice served as the Cliff Floyd Bowling Tournament intern in Pictured below is Angela Smith who was Professor Olson s intern at the Marlins in 1998! Angela is now the Senior Director of Community Affairs at the Marlins. Also pictured is Kelly Britten who Is an adjunct faculty member at NSU. She also worked at the Marlins and served as the Marlins Foundation Event Coordinator.

My name is Christian Velasquez and I am the Director of the Super Y League over here at the United Soccer League. Once again this year we will be holding our National Championship from December 8 th 12 th down at IMG Academy in Bradenton. We are looking for Sport Management majors to be a part of our event staff. With a tournament of this magnitude, we need additional operations staff and customer service staff to ensure its success. I was wondering if you might be able to pass this message onto your students? Benefits to working our event include Volunteer hours Housing for the duration of the event Lunch during tournament hours 2 Event T-shirts I can also sign off on any practicum hours your students need. 11 PARTING SHOTS Autumn Cacicedo, NSU 17, is an intern this fall with the New York Jets. She sent us this picture which was taken when the Miami Dolphins played the Jets earlier this season.
