Sherman to perform Saturday Night at Charlestown Races and Tracks PRINCIPAL SHERMAN TO PERFORM HIS ONE OF A KIND COMEDY By Jessika Saldana Most people know Martinsburg High School Principal Trent Big T Sherman as a really serious guy who always gets to the bottom of things. However, Principal Sherman has another side to him that most of the Martinsburg community has never seen or even heard about. Principal Sherman, or Big T as he likes to be called, spends his Saturday nights performing his stand-up comedy act at the Charlestown Races and Slots. His shows have been sold out since he started performing. Big T says, my ability to keep a straight face and show minimal emotion catches my audience off guard so they can t help but to laugh. With any luck, Big T might give a special performance for Martinsburg High School students and faculty sometime after spring break. Principal Big T Sherman

Eget habitasse elementum est, ipsum purus pede class. School Uniform Policy to be lmplemented at MHS By Katie Rose Martinsburg High School has recently decided to implement school uniforms. The uniform for females will consist of a solid orange polo shirt, solid black skirt that is no more than two inches above the knee with a black belt around the waist and black knee highs worn with saddle oxfords. For males, the uniforms will consist of a solid orange polo shirt, solid black slacks with a black belt around the waist and black dress shoes. In the winter, girls may choose to wear black dress slacks as well. In the spring, both males and females may wear black dress shorts as long as they are within two inches above the knee. In order to set a proper example, the faculty will be required to wear school uniforms as well. Male teachers are allowed to wear the tie of their choosing as long as it is either black, orange or both. The reason cited by the administration for implementation of school uniforms is to promote school spirit, eliminate financial burden upon Uniforms required beginning May 1 students and families and to discourage harmful competition among students. Administration believes this is the best way to enforce the dress code policies already written in the student handbook without making exceptions for certain people and circumstances for what they are wearing that day. Martinsburg High School sophomore, Sarah Warner, believes that it will really promote school spirit at Martinsburg High School. Warner also adds, "It is exciting that the faculty members will also be required to wear school uniforms. I am also looking forward to my extra 20 minutes of sleep that would typically go to selecting what I want to where. I'm relieved that at least during the school week that this decision has already been made for me." MHS teacher Mr. Burkhart says, "everyday will be a spirit day and I'm glad that we are showing more pride in our school. It really takes Mr. Sherman's Bulldog Beliefs to a new level. Go Bulldogs!"

3 MHS Bans Selfies By Alexus Bonner How many of you guys participate in Selfie Sunday? Well good thing we aren't in school on Sunday's because Martinsburg High School is banning selfies. According to Mr. Sherman he decided to ban the taking of selfies even though he knows social media is life and Instagram will not be the same without selfies he said "It is a distraction to education, it encourages students to be selfinvolved, and selfies are not sharing the A.I.R." MHS student Aaron Lamp responded to Sherman s decision by saying " I think it is completely bogus, simply because he wasn't saying that when he smiled for selfies with sports teams. Yes, it did seem like Mr. Sherman was enjoying himself in all of his selfies. However, he has since realized that it is in the best interest of the students at Martinsburg High School if we just all stop taking selfies. NO MORE SELFIES!!! NO MORE SELFIES!!! Punishment for Selfies *Your phone will be confiscated and placed in a special lock box in the office for a couple hours or a couple days. *You will then have to have other people take your picture and share it on social media if you want your face out there.

Martinsburg High School s Assistant Principal Mr. Walker has decided to change the school s mascot because all of the local schools are intimidated by Assistant Principal Walker I stand behind my decision to change our school s mascot to the shar pei. SCIENCE TEACHERS DEVELOP A POTION FOR SLEEPITIS By Aderrica Clarke Science teachers at Martinsburg High School have discovered a cure for the "sleepitis". The teachers were experimenting with ways to improve upon a sports drink when BAM! everyone in the room suddenly became energized by just one sip of this new potion. Have you ever eaten a meal, and passed out from pure satisfaction? Well no more! Our very own science teachers have made a drink that will boost your attention span after every meal! No more slacking on work for sleep with this drink. With antioxidants, plenty of electrolytes, and who knows Just one sip of the potion energizes you what else you won't feel the least bit sluggish after drinking this. Now you can enjoy your big breakfast and be alert for classes! This drink will surely be a big hit with the student population, maybe even some teachers. Yes, the teachers get tired too. This might be the best invention to ever be seen at this high school. Grades will improve and students will feel more alive. Participation will skyrocket in classrooms. There is no way this miracle potion will fail! Stop by the Science Wing to get a sample next week!

6 New Skipping Policy Coming to MHS By Olivia Hickman-Creamer Martinsburg has come out with a new skipping policy due to the amount of students that skip and think they get away with it.what do you think about every class you skip during the school year, at the end of the year you are required to make it up hour by hour? Freshman student Clayton Perry states I think an hour might be a little too much, but I think you should be required to make it up. This is going to be the new policy starting at the beginning of next year to slim down skipping and to get students to attend class and hopefully boost grades. MHS student Myles Downing says that policy would completely suck. According to Assistant Principal Sine We have a lot of students breaking this policy and we have to put a stop to it because too many students have grades that are suffering. So get ready all you skippers to face the wrath of the new policy at the start of next year. For every class you skip you will have the time added to the end of your school year. For some of you frequent skippers, you may as well say good-bye to your summer! Martinsburg High Goes High Tech with Drones By Abbie Stephens Martinsburg High School has finally found a way to reduce the amount of skippers. They have bought a brand new high tech drone that will be able to keep track of every student. This means that when you sign in in the morning your information is logged into the drone and if you walk out of the doors without the brand new hall pass they have also bought then you've been caught skipping and will receive punishment. Now what is this new hall pass system? It is an electronic card that you just swipe through a lock pad to let you in or out. So basically say goodbye to those orange paper passes. Erika Sherman a junior at Martinsburg High school said "I don't think it will stop everyone from skipping but I know it will reduce the amount of skippers." Now if you skip on a regular basis you are most likely to get caught. But not to fear because there is a plus side to this brand new high tech drone that will be flying around your heads the next four years. Rumors have it that if you're present to every one of your classes and don't miss a single day the whole four years of your time at Martinsburg High then the day you graduate you get free Chick-fil-a and Buffalo Wild Wings for a whole year. 7 Ms. Unnone To Display Art at the White House By Clara Opdebeeck The White House asked Ms. Unnone, the greatest Art teacher of Martinsburg High School, to make a piece of Art for the gallery of the White House. She has one month to represent the building in an original way and can use any materials she wants! This week, she met the President to present him with her project idea. She decided to use bottle caps and she is asking for anyone who can help her to collect as many of them as possible. Ms. Unnone originally considered using macaroni but decided not to since it might go against the First Lady s Healthy foods initiative.
