Management Report Welcome to the Yearbook for 2011/2012 for Kingsgrove Cricket Club. It s been an unprecedented year of growth and success for the club. Our 33 rd year of Seniors and the 18 th of Juniors saw a massive increase in player registrations and record on field success for our junior teams and individual players. This included four Premierships. This success has seen the Club selected by Cricket Australia to participate in an exciting Winter Cricket Pilot Development program to be run in May and June. Our achievements have seen Kingsgrove become the largest and most successful club in the Georges River St George District Cricket Association (GRSGDCA). Notwithstanding this, we are equally proud that the club retains its core values of being family focussed and investing in the development of its junior players. Our retention and recruitment strategies commenced with a comprehensive School Recruitment Plan. In total 22 schools were visited and Cricket Skills Programs established at Bexley North Primary and Hurstville Primary Schools with 350 participants. This was backed up with distribution of 15,000 pamphlets and visits to After School Care Centres. In addition, preseason training squads proved a huge hit with existing players with almost two thirds reregistering BEFORE the commencement of our official registration period in August. A special offer of a personalised equipment kit worth several hundred dollars for just $50.00 to new players proved particularly popular. These and other strategies resulted in over 100 new registrations, which saw our total junior numbers soar past 200. This included 26 participants in our first ever MILO IN 2 CRICKET programs at Riverwood Indoor Sports Centre and Hurstville Oval. These numbers enabled the Club to field 17 teams. There were 14 Junior teams, up from eight last season, including four non competition teams in Under 8s and Under 10 Blast. Indeed, player numbers in the six Under 8s and Under 10s teams surpassed our total junior playing strength for last season! The year also saw us field 3 Senior teams comprising 48 registered players. As in past seasons, the Club continued to support the over 35 Sunday competition. A record year on the field saw the Juniors finish with four Premierships, five Minor Premierships and eight out of 10 junior competition teams taking part in the finals series.we also saw a club record 30 players (27 Juniors and 3 Seniors) achieve representative honours, more than double the number last season and these are acknowledged later. The Creak Shield players won their competition. In addition, Clara Iemma was selected in the Under 15 NSW Women s State team; and Caleb Bartier and Benjamin Ferreira were selected in the Under 13 and Under 14 Emerging Blues Squads, respectively. A host of sponsors provided the Club the financial resources to invest in coaching and development programs for its junior players. These focussed on: Preseason squads which were heavily subsidised by the Club and conducted at Kingsgrove Indoor Cricket Centre. These were open to ALL players regardless of age, experience or skill levels. They were a huge success with the program being oversubscribed. A series of SKILLS IN THE PARK sessions conducted by Barry Davison at Beverly Hills Park. These were 3 hour sessions that focussed on fielding drills and were provided free of charge by the club. Finally, a month long series of net sessions that doubled as trials during our registration period in August. Again this program was conducted by Barry Davison and provided free of charge by the Club. The management team continue to plan for the Club s future. The highly successful development programs will continue in the off season with the establishment of 3 Winter IN 2 CRICKET Centres, targeting children of a non- English speaking background who have no previous experience playing cricket. The first 2 centres have been established and will commence in May with 100 children having already registered. The objective of this Cricket Australia supported program is to transition these youngsters into the new season of summer cricket. The Club is also participating in the Sydney Junior Winter Cricket competition with four teams being submitted in four different age groups. We welcomed two new life members, Anthony Marvello and Adam Scott, to the honour roll and thank them for their long service and continued involvement with the club. Kingsgrove RSL remains the focal centre of our club's activities with Executive Meetings, Junior Presentation, Christmas Party, team photos and Bingo Night all held on their premises. We thank the management team for their continuing support. Our fundraisers organised activities such as the bingo night and team photos. Thanks to Margaret Starks and those who helped organise those events. Kingsgrove Cricket Club Yearbook 2011/2012 Page 3

Management Report We are indebted to our sponsors, both long standing and new. Their support, encouragement and advice have been crucial in placing the Club in a strong financial position from which to fund its development programs, provide training apparel at no cost, and continue our general activities of providing players with the opportunity to play and learn about cricket. We gratefully acknowledge our returning sponsors, Kingsgrove RSL, Club Rivers, David Chambers Chartered Accountant, and Mullane's Pharmacy Oatley West; and welcome new sponsors Transfield Services, Payce Communities, Doltone House (Sylvania Waters), Sunny Harbour Seafood Restaurant, and Hotel Macau. The Committee looks forward to your continuing assistance well into the future. We thank the Association, Jeff Evans and his enthusiastic committee, for managing the game in our area. As of 30 April 2011 we had estimated available funds of 7,000, so the club is in a solid financial position, which will enable continuation of the development programs and other initiatives to be investigated. The recruitment campaign was also a huge success in welcoming dozens of new families to the club. This saw many new volunteers in coaching, managing, scoring and other tasks that enabled our teams to function smoothly throughout the year. These "new recruits" and our existing network of volunteers and families are the Club's real strength and ensure that our children can pursue their passion for cricket. To coach Andrew Pye and the parents and players in the 14B team that made the move from Marrickville Cricket Club, we would like to express our appreciation for choosing Kingsgrove and look forward to your continuing association with our Club. We would like to acknowledge the outstanding effort that all of the captains, coaches, managers, and scorers put into organising teams. Without your dedication and contribution each week we could not have fielded our teams, nor had the success which came our way this year. Thanks to the parents who transport the players each week and assist with the teams. Your commitment is appreciated by all. We offer special thanks to Alan Davison, Bushy Pillay, and Jon Jobson who provided expert coaching at various stages of the season. Finally, thanks to all the Committee members for their work throughout a hectic and at times challenging, but immensely rewarding season. It was the first shot at the top grade for the majority of the team, many of whom were still in their teens and early twenties. Also, it saw the departure of some key players through injuries and other commitments. This meant the side somewhat lacked experience, and the side had to be steered around by our fearless and innovative leader Adam Scott, assisted by senior players Peter Moir and Andrew Starks, both 20 years of age. Another senior leader was Faisal Afzal, who wished he was still 20. Nevertheless, these men provided the core on which we had to build our season, and hopefully our charge to the premiership. The rest of the team comprised of seasoned juniors Michael Moir, Robert Henriques, Michael Starks, John Birrilis Billiris and Dylan Venn; adopted paceman Dean Pascoe, spin king Danny Ko, and Joe Dirt (Z. Speechly), who returned after a year in exile. Unfortunately a few one game wonders Simon Marvello and Brendan Warburton were forced to end their seasons prematurely with injuries. Round 1 definitely showed how wet we were behind the ears, going down in easy fashion to the powerhouse of ICC. However some light was provided by our off season signing of Danny, whose handy leg breaks showed we had potential to at least trouble the more competitive sides. We needed to improve, and quickly, if we wanted to prove we were a serious threat to other sides. The bye in Round 2 provided a well needed rest after the towel up we received, before we faced newcomers to the competition, the self proclaimed God s of Cricket, Newtown Bluebags. These blokes talked a good game, and after week one they walked the walk, dismissing us easily and chasing down our total. The next Saturday we were up against an outright result, and our mettle was tested. But a sterling display of batting by the middle and lower order dashed the hopes of the opposition. The team batted for the whole day, highlighted by a maiden ton by burly keeper Michael Starks, who showed great delight building his unbeaten century (101no) on the back of a clearly frustrated Newtown bowling attack. With the assistance of fellow gloves man Robert Henriques (56), and flashy cameos by Yianni and the cripple (B. Warburton), we silenced the swampys and begun our campaign, albeit on a loss. If we were going to win this competition, we needed to show this youthful exuberance every game. Put simply, it didn t happen. Consistency or lack thereof, was the weight we couldn t shift off our back, the proverbial thorn in our side. We struggled to string wins together, and it was primarily the batting performance that was the let down. M. Starks, the lone centurion of the year, barely got out of single figures again, and our senior players (see above), didn t show the patience, concentration and cricketing brains needed to build hefty totals or chase down runs for the win. The only shining light in the batting department was our trusty workman like opener, Michael Moir. He blasted 346 runs at 58, posting 4 half centuries, each of them clinical and classy. The only other batsman to go past 50 was Faisal, who achieved that total a single time. This frankly isn t the quality a team has to produce to be a threat in a competition in which you thrive on steady performances. This was the core reason we weren t there at the business end contesting for the bikkies. Kingsgrove Cricket Club Yearbook 2011/2012 Page 16

Team Reports Our bowling and fielding performances were a little more impressive than our ventures with the willow. It was a key factor in our 4 wins for the year. Most of the time we were bowling first anyway, as Adam couldn t win a toss to save his life. Our courageous skipper toiled, and toiled, and toiled. And just when you thought he would throw the ball to someone else to have a trundle, he would toil some more. More often than not, he would wrap up an innings in clinical fashion by bamboozling the batsmen with his thrifty two step deliveries. He finished the year with a tally of 30 poles, at an average of just 12. He stacked on two major hauls of 6/80 and 5/20, both against our fellow clubmen of Kingsgrove Green. Andrew Starks, a fellow ambler to the crease, went on to claim 19 wickets for the season, most of them being key batsmen of the opposing side. The fiery redhead got most of his scalps by walking to the crease, tossing up a pie, and getting a bloke caught an inch from the rope. Good cricket. Other key bowlers included he steady pace and swing of Yianni, Pascoe, and Afzal who claimed their fair share of wickets, the effective spin/swing/whatever of M. Moir, the sharp turn of newcomer to the bowling arena Robbie H, and the trusty neat leggies of DKO. Dylan Venn was given few opportunities with the Tuf Pitch but gave his all whenever given the chance. His enthusiasm was shown when he nearly knocked off Keepers Starks head with a full toss. Twice! Peter Moir enjoyed mixed results when he bowls pace. Figures of 0/32 off 2 overs, and 1/4 attest to this. Want the keeper s opinion? Stick to batting and fielding bud. Not mentioned above is young un Zac. He couldn t cop a break this year, but he did cop a finger dislocation, which saw him miss out a few fixtures. Also, he did go on hiatus to New Zealand for a few weeks, and notified the team as he checked in at the airport. Either way I'm sure he enjoyed his time over there mixing it with the Maoris. His batting results were not his best, but got us over the line with some fine finishing knocks. With more experience and luck we will see him develop into a linchpin of the batting line-up. In the field, we showed good dedication and steel which was exemplified when we bowled out teams for low totals. However, it came back to consistency, and on our day we all dropped our share of sitters. A. Starks would remind us of this till the cows came home, as he was denied his first 5 for off the back of some shockers. But he is no stranger to deplorable efforts with the hands. Who could forget the shocker at Beverley Hills No.1 in which he went down like a dud paper plane after dropping a skyer/mortar? All aside, there is no doubt everyone enjoyed the contest of playing in a tough grade, even though the results were not in our favour. We showed glimpses of our premiership winning form but in the end we just couldn t match the experience of the seasoned sides. Thanks must go to everyone who came down throughout the year to help us out on the field, Shehraiz, Faisal Syed, Sam Barrington-Smith (good catch mate), and young Lachlan Scott who fielded for us a few times. Nick and Josh, who enjoyed a few briefs cameos, your efforts are greatly appreciated. Thanks to all the others who supported from the sidelines and we hope you stick with us for the coming years, as we can only get better. Enjoy your off season, enjoy the NRL/AFL, enjoy the June long weekend, go the Wests Tigers, and most importantly glory to Kingsgrove CC. Although we didn t win as many games as we would have liked to we still enjoyed ourselves on the field. In saying that, we came so close to winning a few games even losing one game on the last ball of the day. There definitely were more games that we should ve and could ve won. Catches, like every year, hurt us with teams making bigger scores than they really should have. But overall, the boys really enjoyed playing with each other and taking the field together with everyone was something I looked forward to every weekend. [Note: the scores for one game did not get into MyCricket, so the following statistics reflect the details in MyCricket, which is the Association's record, for consistency.] Shehraiz AWAN: Had his best season for a number of years and led the team from the front. Sam BARRINGTON-SMITH: ; ; 2 catches; 2 wk dismissals ; 5 wk dismissals. Only played a couple of games. His presence was felt though when he took 5 catches behind the wicket in one game. Mitchell CAREY: ; ; 1 catch. The most reliable team member. Definitely if we needed something we could always rely in Mitch. Took some important wickets and made good runs at the right time. Was promoted to opening the batting a couple of times and did a great job. Chris FIFITA: ; ; 5 catches; 1 run out. Was an absolute pleasure to have in the team. Was the perfect bowler when the pace needed to be taken off the ball. Bowled very well the whole season with best figures of 4/18 and who can forget his first ball charge down the wicket to smash a boundary, twice this season. Mathew HANSCOMBE: ; 2 catches. Frustrated the opposition with resilient batting and showed us all how opening the batting is done. His hook shots for six were great to watch. Daniel JAMIESON: ; ; 1 catch. Bowled a hostile opening spell to set up the win for us one game with figures of 4/27 with all of the wickets coming from hitting the timber. His Dreadlocks just looked Cool, enough said. Kingsgrove Cricket Club Yearbook 2011/2012 Page 19

Team Reports Clint KITCHEN: ; ; 6 catches, 1 run out. Batted very consistently throughout the season, especially with his nice streak of scoring 24, 25, 26 and 37 consecutively. Bowled a great death spell in a game finishing with figures of 4/24, almost winning us the game. Michael MACIOLEK: Didn t play many games due to injury or illness but when he did play, was never missing from the action on the field. Was given the ball to bowl in the last game and didn t want to touch it, did a fine job with frustrating the batsmen who just couldn t get him away. Dean PASCOE: ; ; 1 catch. Great with either bat or ball. Got the highest score in the team with a punishing innings of 87. He was very consistent with the bat. Bowled unplayable out swingers at time opening the bowling and picked up important wickets. Could ve scored more runs in the season but finished the season with 1 st grade. Jamie PASSLOW: ; 3 catches, 2 wk dismissals. Started the season with the bat with a great knock of 67 to set up a commanding total and eventually the win. Definitely would ve liked to score more runs, but was away for a few games. Had a good influence on the team. Rhys PUCKETT: ; ; 2 catches. An absolute pleasure to have in the side. Picked up plenty of wickets throughout the season with best figures of 4/27. Really wanted to stay not out in all the innings he batted just so he could have an average of 0.00, he successfully stayed not out on 4 occasions. Gave plenty of advice on the field or as he would put it Pearls of Wisdoms. Matthew RYAN: 3 catches. Stamped his authority on the Fielding Award with one of the best catches seen, diving full stretch to his right almost parallel to the ground to take an absolute pearl. Enjoyed himself throughout the season and gave his best in every game. Mehnan SHANGALOO: ; 3 catches. First season with the club but fitted in nicely. Was a bit down in confidence with the bat but was a solid option when we needed someone to simply rotate the strike. Faisal SYED: ; ; 3 wk dismissals. Got promoted to opening the batting towards the back end of the season and batted beautifully to see of the opening bowlers. Bowled well in a few games especially the opening game of the season. Also did well behind the stumps. Shehraiz Awan 3 rd Grade Captain Kingsgrove Cricket Club Yearbook 2011/2012 Page 20

Team Reports Over 35's Well another enjoyable and successful Over 35 s season has passed and I m pleased to say the experienced Kingsgrove side continued their dominance of the competition. Peakhurst Park has become a Kingsgrove fortress and our game plan of fielding first has served us well. The team is made up of a great bunch of guys with lots of cricket experience, and age ranging from mid thirties to fifty plus. Everyone is an all rounder and opposition teams are surprised (as are we) just how well we go. However bowling 18 balls or getting to that elusive 30 runs can be tough at this age and with sporting competition comes injury. This year we ve had concussion, fractured fingers, the usual torn muscles and a ruptured Achilles (no more quick singles!). But these are only small setbacks in the pursuit of one last cricket story to tell the kids. Like a good wine, we get better with age. There was only one hiccup for the team this year against good bunch of blokes from Earlwood Wanders. We had them on toast only chasing 120 but in an attempt to finish the match by only hitting sixes we left ourselves needing one run from the last partnership. Unfortunately through a small breakdown in communication we sent out a last batsman who was clearly affected by the heat of the day and thought we d already won the game and got caught on the boundary leaving us one run short. Nonetheless we shared a beer, BBQ and few laughs with the opposition and for good measure we also gave them a brand new fold up chair belonging to our captain in another communication breakdown. Note to self more cricket, less socialising! But that debacle behind us, I m pleased to say we again beat our main rivals ICC with another solid team performance. With the serious cricket behind us...we finished the season with a father son game vs Danny s mates. What a great afternoon. While the competition is fierce and everyone is trying to get one up on their Dad, every ones families come down and we enjoy a great club social afternoon. For the record I believe Mike s team beat Danny s team this year but only just (the result s not important). Until next year... BBQ Mate Kingsgrove Cricket Club Yearbook 2011/2012 Page 21

Team Reports 16B Undefeated Premiers Bill Dimitrelos & Ray Parkinson 16B Competition Table Team P W2 W1 D L1 L2 Wkts Lost Runs For Wkts Taken Runs Agst Pts % 1 Kingsgrove Mortdale Heights St George Leagues Beverly Hills Eagles Penshurst RSL Penshurst West Illawarra Catholic Club Ramsgate RSL Youth In what will be remembered as one of the more relaxing seasons of cricket, the 16Bs cricket team was not fully formed until just before the start of the season. The team was a mix of first and second year 16s as well as a 14s player playing up for the season. As such the skill set was mixed, but strong as it transpired, for a 16B competition. With fourteen registered players and the likelihood of the need to roster players during the season, patches of illness, injury and disappearance meant that for most games we had only the required compliment of players. As the competition had 8 teams, the season was drawn up as 14 games, 7 two week games and 7 one day fixtures. Some simple statistics can put the combined strength of the team in perspective. These are more impressive when one appreciates that these figures arise from the regular round robin season when formal batting and bowling orders were set aside in favour of rotating our batsmen and bowlers. In the games played, by restricting the overs bowled by individual players, the 16Bs utilised at least 8 different bowlers in 9 of those games and used 10 or more bowlers in 5 of those games. When batting, the team used 10 different opening batsmen during the season. In 8 of the games, the team lost 5 or less wickets in either setting a total or chasing down the opposition's runs. The team was only dismissed once fully in the season. The team accumulated 1,942 runs in the competition rounds for the loss of 66 wickets at an average of 29 for each wicket. The team otherwise conceded only 835 runs to our opposition's batsmen whilst taking 133 of their wickets, allowing our oppositions a miserly average of only 6.3 runs per batsman. But as stated above, this was achieved by the whole team as everyone actively participated. Happily and fittingly, the best game for the season fell on the Final against Mortdale Heights. With an allocated ground which was more cricket field than the regular rice paddies for which the team was used to, the team arrived to a cloudless sky and field that was dry courtesy to an overnight breeze. With another win of the toss, that made it 9 from 15 for our captain, our opposition was sent in to bat. On a ground that was finally releasing the ball to give value for stroke play, our opposition knuckled down after an early loss to start to compile a reasonable total. A couple of clever bowling changes, which brought wickets as their reward, saw the momentum swing back to Kingsgrove by the drinks break with 5 wickets taken as Mortdale Heights were nearing 60 runs. After the break, and again after some auspicious bowling changes, the break throughs finally arrived and Kingsgrove had Mortdale eventually dismissed for 101 runs. With 40 minutes or so still left on the clock, our openers sought to see off the extra overs to set up the following day. But Mortdale were willing to continue to Kingsgrove Cricket Club Yearbook 2011/2012 Page 22

Team Reports bring the fight to Kingsgrove and the day ended evenly balanced with Kingsgrove 2 wickets down for 23 runs. As much as the first day had been evenly balanced, the balance in this game only lasted until the loss of Kingsgrove's third and only wicket to fall on the final day's play. From that moment, the momentum swung against Mortdale and to Kingsgrove's batsmen who began to accelerate the scoring as the spirits of our opposition fell. In what then became a blink of an eye, Jake Redston, who had been zero overnight, pushed onto 20 runs (off 50 balls) while Kyle Venn, who went to the crease at the fall of the third wicket at 3 for 30, pushed on to 49 not out (off 59 balls) whilst punishing some poorer deliveries to or over the boundary, the last clearing the fence to take the score to a winning total. It was, in the end, a fitting end for a team who were a relaxed group of players who had enjoyed playing as a team, training as a solid group and had become the creators of some very humorous and good natured banter or ribbing on the sideline. Reed CHEN: ; ; 1 run out. Reed is one of the team's players who struggled with the overlap of school sport and his wish to play with Kingsgrove's 16Bs. The result was some cameo appearances and the odd flash of brilliance, as was his high score of 24 and 2 of his 3 wickets in the one game in Round 10. Reed has some cricketing talent and strikes the ball hard when batting. His is an accomplished bowler, whose limited exposure to game time limited his opportunity to put it to full use. Adrian DIMITRELOS: ; ; 3 catches. Adrian was the surprise packet for the team as he was a 14s player playing up into the 16s for added experience. Adrian is a developing all rounder who has both a willingness to chase a loose delivery and the strength to put the ball over the infield when he chooses. He is also an accomplished bowler who can maintain pressure from his end. With best bowling figures of 3/8 and a high score with the bat of 17, two more years of 16s cricket will see him as a stalwart of the team for the coming years. Steve KASSIOU: ; ; 2 catches. Steve is a player who simply enjoys the game of cricket. Keen to develop his skills but a little reserved to put them into practice on the field, he gave the team all his support when needed. Steve took the opportunity to bat higher up the order when the chance presented itself and he has continued to strive to improve all facets of his game. Steve was able to eke out some valuable wickets with his bowling during the season to give the team a timely boost when needed. Liam KELLY: ; ; 4 catches; 4 run outs. Liam is an understated cricketer who can easily slip under the radar. An accomplished opening batsmen, he has a keen sense for his cricketing abilities and values his wicket. With a high score of 62 and an average of 36, particularly as an opener, his value to the team cannot be overstated. Liam is also an accomplished spin bowler whose flight of the ball causes most batsmen difficulty in finding the right ball to attack. His 12 wickets for the season at 7.4 runs per wicket seem to always fall when the team needed a breakthrough. Otherwise a safe set of hands and a keen fieldsman. Neil LEWIS: ; ; 4 catches; 1 run out. Neil is one of our best all rounders and solid with both bat and ball. As a regular opener or number 3 bat, Neil was accomplished at accumulating runs with little risk of losing his wicket. With a high score of 58, Neil early in the season had an average of 143 having not been dismissed in his first four times at bat. Otherwise, an accomplished quick bowler, who regularly opened the bowling, he took wickets regularly with an economy rate of only 1.6 per over with a maiden over bowled at a rate of almost one in three overs. Kingsgrove Cricket Club Yearbook 2011/2012 Page 23

Gavin PARKINSON: Team Reports ; ; 2 catches. Gavin is another of our players whose love of the game will never diminish. A solid all rounder who struggled at times this year with his line and length when bowling, he continued to strive to improve his skills, Asking for the opportunity to develop his batting further, Gavin sought to open the batting as regularly as possible. As a solid defensive batsman, his form in the nets didn't always transfer to the middle but it did not deter his overall confidence and keenness to succeed. Taylor PREECE: ; ; 6 catches; 1 run out. Taylor was our main strike bowler for the season. With a tall and strong build, his ability to generate considerable pace off both a normal or short run up, he was able to make even the best opposition batsman look sluggish with their stroke play. At times, with the swing or bounce of a new ball, Taylor was often unplayable or frightening. Taylor otherwise has a great eye when batting and when warmed up can easily clear the boundary with powerful stroke play. His high score of 33 was achieved in the blink of an eye. Jake REDSTON: ; ; 3 catches 3 run outs. Jake is one of our strongest players and is accomplished in all facets of the game. Possibly our most stylish batsman with a sharp eye, Jake has the ability to quickly change the tempo of a game with some powerful hitting. Save for some shorter innings when we passed opposition scores, Jake's average and total runs could have been much greater. Strong as well with the ball and a safe set of hands, his bowling is both adept at maintaining a better than respectable economy rate as well as taking wickets. His temperament never wavers and was as strong in the Final as is in every game and withstood all that the opposition could throw at him. Kushal SHIRODKAR: ; ; 3 catches. Kushal is another of our first year 16s who has a promising year ahead of him for season 2012/13. Kushal is an all rounder with an added strength in his bowling. Kushal became a critical member of the bowling attack as the year progressed and was an integral member of the bowling attack for the finals series. Kushal is miserly in his bowling with one in every four of his overs bowled as a maiden with an average economy rate of only 1.7 runs per over. He is also a solid batsman. Ray SUKKAR: ; ; 4 catches. Ray is a first year 16 who will blossom into a stalwart of next year's 16s team. A strong bowler who has bowled this year with limited luck and a batsman who has the ability to hit the ball powerfully, again with a little more luck, and some more time in the middle, will grow into an even more valuable member of his team. Ray's bowling was a further example of line and length bowling with an economy rate of only 2.2 runs per over. Jake TALEVSKI: ; ; 5 catches. Jake is one of the 16s strongest and all round players. Unfortunately Jake spent a chunk of time on the sideline this year through injury and his statistics don't reflect his effect on the overall strength of the team. Jake's high score of 83 showed his normal skills with the bat and his bowling through the latter part of the season together with the Final showed how line and length bowling to restrict an opposition's ability to score is just as important as taking wickets. He has one of the safest set of hands in the game. Dellin TRAN: ; ; 4 catches. Dellin is one of our team's journeymen. Dellin is one of our players who just loves the game and watches his skills grow from season to season. With growing confidence, Dellin took the opportunity to open the batting when it was offered and took the bowling opportunities when they presented. Dellin's bowling is deceptive but his line and length often have a batsman playing a mistimed shot. His bowling saw no signs of releasing easy runs and his economy rate and average per wicket made him a valuable change up bowler. Kingsgrove Cricket Club Yearbook 2011/2012 Page 24
