Presidents Report FORMAL APOLOGIES It must be said it has been a disappointing season on field for the Panthers. I am not going to labour on disappointment because we all know it.

2 Presidents Report FORMAL APOLOGIES It must be said it has been a disappointing season on field for the Panthers. I am not going to labour on disappointment because we all know it. However, the spirits remain high at the club we will push forward to more successful times on the field as we have always done. To all that I let down last you by not producing this excellent publication I sincerely apologize Grades We had a slightly change committee going into the new season from James Grady (VP), David Speed (Secretary), Stephen Green (Treasurer), and General Committee members: Will McKenzie, Simon Kann, Doug Potts, and Dave Eva. All members of the committee contributed throughout the year to keep the club going and I thank them for a job well done. However, with that being said the club does need other members (non-committee) to chip in and help out the committee a little more. In the off season the club has completed a successful move to Balwyn Park after many months of work and negotiation to get the club to the point where it is today, which makes all the difference to making the place feel like our club. From what I hear the majority of the members are happy with the move and I believe it s a step in the right direction. Also, the smaller pavilion seems to suit our club and members better because we are not getting lost in a large venue like Gordon Barnard. We have an amazing ground to play and watch cricket at and are the envy of the competition, so much so we got the opportunity to host the MacGibbon Final in our very first year of tenancy. Although we had to give up Greythorn Pk, I think we all agree that the move is ideal and it s refreshing to see our 1st XI playing home games at our home club. I would like to thank all the captains for their hard work throughout a very trying year that didn t yield too many wins. All captains did an excellent job considering the changing of the guard from the regular players we ve had over the past few years. However, the club did unearth some younger players that got the opportunity to represent the club at a higher level than they had before in the past, which is a promising sign for the future. The Vets was captained Daryl Gove who led the team with spirit and passion. We had strong numbers throughout the season and even had games where we had one or two extra players to rotate through. Although slightly disappointing on just missing out on the finals, all players can feel proud with their efforts. It had been the best win/loss season we have had to date. A special mention to Andrew Wolfmeyer for his enthusiasm on both Saturday and Sunday cricket on and off the field and helping the younger cricketers in the 3s. There should be no reason why our club can t bounce back. We have done it before and will do it again. We have good cricketers and an excellent club so there should be no reason why this club can t be a force again next season. I understand that cricket takes a fair bit of time out of peoples schedule and weekend lives. I would like to personally thank all players, committee members, and WAGS for their time and commitment throughout the season and hope to see you all again next season. 1st XI Captains Report Firstly, thank you for being given the privilege and the honour to captain this great club.

Firstly, to the committee for giving me the opportunity to captain the club. Secondly to Greeny, Buckets and Datto for your on- field support during the season.

While the results were disappointing, it was a year that I will look back on with some great memories. There are many people who I would like to thank. Firstly, to the committee for giving me the opportunity to captain the club. Secondly to Greeny, Buckets and Datto for your on- field support during the season. I learnt a lot from all of you and felt that as the season went on my captaincy improved, largely thanks to the time and effort which you put into supporting me. Thirdly to Grades for the many off field duties he performed, not just specifically for the 1s but in general, next to Skanny for assisting with selection every single week and finally to all those who helped out at training. I m sure I have forgotten some however Buckets, Speedy, Lozza and Pottsy for assisting setting up and also to Dale for helping to run drills as well as for your support on game days. I d like to take some time to talk through what I thought were the positives for this season. To the new players who joined the club, in particular Buckets, Binga and Stiffler. Your on-field talent is obvious and will be recognised later in the night however what impressed me the most was your attitude and willingness to help. The morale of the rest of the playing group always lifted in your presence and it is a credit to the three of you individually. While it was obvious the three of you were desperate to win every week, it was also pleasing to see you enjoying yourself and keeping the atmosphere positive. Secondly to Pottsy who was the only player to play every game in the 1s for the season which is an achievement you should be proud of. Your talent with the gloves is obvious and you clearly have the necessary hand-eye coordination with the bat to become a regular runs scorer in 1s cricket. If you continue to train regularly and apply yourself with the bat the way you do with the gloves, I m sure you can push up the order and become a damaging batsman too. You need to remember that you are an extremely talented cricket and you should expect to score runs every week. Thirdly, to Lozza. You bowled more overs than anyone else at the club, bowled more maidens than anyone else at the club and were our third leading run scorer for the season. I think we can all agree this is a season worth being proud of. Doing all this with a busted hand while getting up at 5am on Saturday to work for 6 hours before cricket makes the season even more impressive. Unfortunately Shapes could not make it tonight as he didn't know if he had a shirt that matches our new chairs and finally to Wolfy and his gang of juniors who terrorised the lower grades. It was fantastic after our last game to be able to drop down and watch the next generation of Panthers (not you Gove) comprehensively outplaying a side who needed to win to play finals. I m sure you will be part of many successful sides for the Panthers in the future and I look forward to watching you progress through the grades and hopefully joining the 1s in the not-to-distant future. To all the other players who played 1s this season, of which there were 28, thank you for your efforts as well. All 28 of you should be aiming to play 1s next season as nobody took the field without the talent to be able to contribute in Burt Shield. In terms of areas we need to improve, for me there are two clear areas. Firstly, training attendance and secondly, mental application. With the bat, individual batsmen continually got themselves out the same way innings after innings while our bowlers ruin a potentially good over with one or two bad deliveries trying to do too much. All of these issues can be resolved by attending training and then having the mental strength on match day to execute under pressure. Irrespective of which grade we find ourselves in next season, we have the talent to win the majority of games we play in if we address the previously mentioned points however we will struggle in any grade if we do not. On field results can be turned around quickly and I am already extremely excited for the 16/17 season and I am looking forward to seeing the Panthers hitting back bigger and better than ever. However 2015/16 turned out to be a disaster year, most experts contend losing his former leader mentor in James Grady was the major cause of his dissapointing

It was a strong grade and we played against some really strong teams with some good players!

It was encouraging to see that the guys never gave up and continued to try win every week instead of going through the motions.

However 2015/16 turned out to be a disaster year, most experts contend losing his former leader mentor in James Grady was the major cause of his dissapointing output Duck Award Winner Willie McKenzie with 4 ducks 2nds Captains Report by Justin Dessent This season the second XI competed in Loc 2! It was a strong grade and we played against some really strong teams with some good players! Unfortunately we were unable to scratch out a win coming agonisingly close on a number of occasions. It was encouraging to see that the guys never gave up and continued to try win every week instead of going through the motions. It's always great to see some of the young and new guys come through the ranks and compete really well. One in particular is Jake Kann who has a bucket full of talent and has a bright future at the club. I'd like to thank the selection committee. It was tough to get the sides together most weeks with the lack of numbers but we never gave up and always put a side on the park. Hopefully next year we can improve and have some success which I know we can do. GO PANTHERS!!!!!

7 David Larkin Medalist - Sam "Capo" 3rds Captains Report This season was full of surprises. The first surprise came when I filled in as captain for the first game. Over the course of the season we had a dozen new panthers make their debut most of whom stuck with us throughout the season. Many thanks to to veteran players who helped us out and for their support throughout the year with special mention to Peaky, Knotty, Milsey and Stu McKenzie who helped keep a positive tone and set the right example of how we play as a club. Thanks also to the committee and especially Rusty and Skanny for their help and support throughout the season. Over the course of the year we went from narrowly losing to taking our chances and winning and I couldn't be prouder of the progress we made. Hopefully we can keep the momentum up next year and pick up where we left off.
