3 IDYLLE Comfort & design for a calm city Creating liveable cities has been the objective of clients and project managers for thirty or more years. This means rethinking the morphology and rhythm of the city. In cities, movement is practically perpetual and, although the advent of soft modes is slowing the tempo, opportunities to stop altogether are few and far between. The calm city redesigns urban spaces to transform them into «liveable» spaces, somewhere to take the time to sit and stare, to relax, to chat, to meet people... people-friendly places with a strong identity, in which the user is given the means to make the space his own. It is with this in mind that Sineu Graff has created the Idylle range, which fits beautifully into those urban oases: a seat, benches and an armchair to prompt new attitudes, restore intimacy, encourage polite proximity. 4 IDYLLE The Idylle seat has been designed as a seat in which to unwind, to make the most of calm urban spaces. It comes in wide and narrow benches that join together to compose people-friendly spaces where several people can sit. The benches encourage new attitudes: sitting down in the usual way or astride the seat, side by side or back to back, lying down for a quick nap, making a table for an impromptu picnic Seat and bench installed facing each other encourage conversation, while retaining to the freedom take part or not. 4

7 DESIGN & ERGONOMICS Sineu Graff called on the designer Arturo Erbsman to come up with the Idylle range. Together, they selected high quality materials, wood and cast iron, to compose a seat with built-in comfort in an impeccable design. The beautifully conceived cast iron base emerges from the ground and extends to envelop the battens that form the seat. A fluid curve, alternating solid and open, polished wood, battens with soft corners, sitting height: design and ergonomics are devoted entirely to comfort. The Idylle seat has no exposed fastenings. A cast iron cap covers the screws holding the battens in place. This cap extends the line of the base and delicately marries the curve of the backrest. An ingenious fastening system forms the liaison between the footings and the ground, whilst masking the fixing system. The foot seems to be born from the ground. 10 A PIVOTING ARMCHAIR The Idylle armchair can be installed in multiples in every space in the city. The armchair pivots, offering the user the freedom to face which ever way he chooses: face to face to join in a conversation or facing the landscape to let one s mind wander and savour a few moments peace and quiet. Designed as a club chair, the Idylle armchair is aimed at everyone: older people who appreciate its wide armrests and younger people to whom it offers a variety of postures. 10
