1 10th Annual Grey Roots Regional Heritage Fair For immediate release April 21, 2017 The 10 th Annual Grey Roots Regional Heritage Fair took place Thursday, April 20 at Grey Roots Museum & Archives. The Regional Heritage Fair encourages students to celebrate our county s heritage by sharing their projects on local, regional, or national history with the community. Students research Canadian heroes, legends, milestones, and achievements and present their stories as detailed projects. Participating schools send the top student projects from each class in grade 4 to 8 to represent their school at the Regional Fair. This year s fair featured 60 participants from seven schools, each with a robust project featuring an aspect of Canadian history. This year s fair was a great success, said Katie Clarke, Heritage Fair Coordinator. We were really impressed with all of the projects, and know the adjudicators had a difficult time selecting the award recipients. The projects were adjudicated by a team of volunteers, who spent the day talking with participants and learning about their topics. Awards in a variety of categories were presented at a ceremony at the end of the day. Three successful delegates will move on to present their work at the Provincial Showcase in Toronto: Maddie Mensher, The Miracle Drug, Grade 8, École Port Elgin Saugeen Central School Patrick Ferrier, Vimy Ridge: Our Finest Hour, Grade 7, Chesley District Community School Aurora Jacobi, A War Bride Story, Grade 7, École Port Elgin Saugeen Central School
2 The Grey Roots Regional Heritage Fair was made possible through generous contributions from the Ontario Heritage Fairs Association and the Ontario Power Generation.
