3 BACKGROUND TO RUGBY Rugby is the World s fastest growing Team Sport (up 6.8% globally year on year) Rugby Union is played in over 100 countries on 6 continents The Rugby World Cup is watched by 230 million viewers world-wide The rules were codified in 1845 by the pupils and staff of Rugby School, UK The German Rugby Federation now has, 110 member clubs and 11,254 members. 50+ gay-friendly teams World-wide

4 BACKGROUND TO GAY RUGBY... AND THE BERLIN BRUISERS In 2013, 53 gay teams around the world The Bingham Cup is the World s largest amateur Rugby Tournament The Bruisers have 1,000+ fans, from all walks of life, with 50 playing members An official Verein registered with the city An integral part of Berlin s gay landscape Our players have already sustained (in 1 year), over 120 bruises, 25 sprains, a ripped achilles tendon, 10 fractures, a split skull and intracranial haematoma!

5 BERLIN BRUISERS PHILOSOPHY We are Germany s first gay rugby team made up of over 20 different nationalities We are inclusive and welcome all gay men, and are straight friendly to all others! We are committed gay ambassadors for Rugby, Berlin and the best of Germany We are officially bound by mutual respect and a set of common Brand Values We have a specifically defined protocols and Articles of Association, including a code of ethics to protect those who need our help We support The Ben Cohen Stand Up Foundation to help eradicate bullying

7 ACHIEVED TO DATE IN ONE YEAR Walked in Berlin Gay Pride 2012 & 2013 Hosted guest coaches from Brussels, Melbourne, Amsterdam and London Berlin Gay Pride 2013 Integrated Social media strategy, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. Gained a Guinness World Record for the most rugby passes in three minutes Over 120 articles in both national and International Press around the World Guinness World Record 237 passes in 3 mins Played 10 matches and won our first International match in Bristol, England.

To actively march in Gay Prides parades around Europe, and a booth at Strassenfest. To take part in the Union Cup in Brussels 2015 and the Bingham Cup in Sydney in 2014 To go into schools and use rugby to create awareness for our anti-bullying campaign Berlin Tournaments in 2014 & 2019 To host the Union Cup in Berlin in 2019 and to host an International rugby clinic in 2014
