2 Liam Tuohy, aged 25, weight 10 st. 10 lb., height 5 ft. 8 ins. 8 Seasons with Shamrock Rovers. Liam Tuohy is an example of a player who made the grade the hard way and the manner of his rise to fame should be an object lesson to all budding footballers. Five years ago Liam was reserve outside left in Rovers 2nd team that played Transport in Leinster League, at that period he could not command a place in our Leinster League side. On the Sunday a vacancy arose in our Senior side at outside left against St. Patrick's Athletic, our Chairman, Mr. Cunningham took a chan<;e and played Liam, )1e was an instantaneous success, on the fouowirig Wednesday he played against Sligo in the F.A.I. Cup and scored the winning goal. Since that period Liam has won every honour in League of Ireland.Football. He has 6 International Caps, three full against Yugoslavia and twice against Czechslovakia, and three "B" against Rumania, Iceland, South Africa. EDITORIAL With only four points from our first five games we have made a very disappointing start to a season that on paper held high promise of sweet success in view of cur performance last year in winning the League Championship. I make no excuse for saying here that in our early matches in the League we had not the run of the ball. We done enough in all our games to have won. Everyone behind the scenes at Milltown realises that in football luck plays a very important part. In all branches of sport that elusive old Lady-Dame Fortune has a great bearing on results. We have been lucky in the past and no doubt we will get our share in the future, particularly now that the Boys by their great win on Sunday last against Waterford have broken away from their bad patch that has brought a crop of " false " results. What our Chairman, Mr. Cunningham, would like to make clear to our supporters is that Rovers Management are not sitting back Micawber like and waiting for something to happen, we knew we have the material, in our early games it was very evident that some of our key players were suffering from a temporary loss of form that in football is a natural sequence of events. We have plenty of material on the staff ::~.t Milltown, we have a brilliant Minor team, so let us look on the bright side. The future looks bright. On Sunday last against Waterford our boys gave their best display so far in the League, one redeeming feature of that game was the return of Tommy Hamilton to his very best form. Tommy was more than good he was brilliant.

Tommy, like ourselves believes in playing football! as football should be played, and his teaching has made Cork Celtic one of the foremost Clubs in the Football League of Ireland. Songs rendered by I Mtossrs. Mooney and Howe were first class and the I! antics of Chris Casey had all in stitches of laughter. Sonny Rice at the piano was delightful. Paddy Coad who specialises in traditional ballads, rendered "Down by the Glenside" and was his usual brilliant 1 ' self. But the man who stole the show was Gerry ' Doyle. with the lisp of a "Baby's Prayer ", his I singing being recorded for future events by Bobby 1 Reid. Liam Hennessy also obliged. The catering arrangements were in the capable hands of our Lad ies Committee and left nothing to be desired. Billy Hudson the M.C. kept things moving and r ight to the end there was not a dull moment. Miss Margaret Cunningham presented the Medals, Cups, etc., to the players and our Chairman, Mr. Joe Cunningham, P.C., in his speech, 1 welcomed the guests and artists. We ore indebted to Frank Davis, Joe Butler, Jack Murphy, Jack Russell, Jimmy Dooley, etc., who were responsible for: organising the function, for a great night. Thanks a lot boys and girls.
