5 Chairman s Welcome The Council of European Jamaats takes great pleasure in inviting you to the Annual Mulla Asghar Memorial Tournament This invitation pack provides vital information for participants. It is vital that you absorb the information and take note of the deadlines and penalties outlined herein. In this pack we have included accommodation and venue information for each sport. MAMT 2016, like MAMT 2015, continues to be heavily subsidised for children aged 15 and under! Each Jamaat has already been asked to express their interest in participating in Volleyball in MAMT 2016 and whether they wish to enter Premiership or Championship. Refer to the section on Rules and Timeline for deadlines. The deadline to submit entries for all sports with names and fees can be found in the same section. We hope that our sports team, Husseini AllStars, and our volunteers will be able to provide a fantastic experience throughout the 3 tournament days. We are proud to see the MAMT continue till today in honour and tribute of Marhum Mulla Saheb. Our community s heightened capacity to withstand the trying times and its zeal to serve along with the motto from this message We exist to serve. This message continues to inspire us and Husseini Allstars to continue in our work today. 35 PENALTY NOTICES IMPORTANT PENALTY CHARGE NOTICE FOR LATE ENTRIES Please note there will be a strict penalty placed upon any Jamaat who does not submit their entries by the agreed date of Sunday 31 st July We ask all participants and Jamaats to work together to ensure that this deadline is met promptly. If any entries reach after the given date of Sunday 31 st July 2016, then each individual sport or team sport from that particular Jamaat will start their tournament with a deduction of 3 POINTS (1 WIN). There will be NO NEGOTIATIONS to this fixed penalty and will be taken seriously. This could mean that your Jamaat team or your Jamaat individual representative could lose out for qualifying due to these 3 POINTS. Each sport, whether you are playing football or table tennis, will be scored in the same manner: A Win = 3 points, A Draw = 1 point and A Loss = 0 points. Scenario: Jamaat X misses the deadline and has entered the following sports categories: Football: 15 and Under, 18 and Under and 34 and Over Table Tennis: M Walji (singles 18 and Under) and W Khanji and T Khanji (Doubles) Volleyball: 1 Team Badminton: F Manji (Over 18 Singles) All of the above will start with MINUS 3 POINTS so therefore already sitting at the bottom of their respective leagues. The only age categories that will NOT be penalised are children 12 and under, 9 and under and 7 and under. 35

36 RULES 1. All entries and payments to be submitted by the deadline. 2. Behaviour deemed unfit or un-islamic will not be tolerated. Any gross misconduct or swearing will be severely dealt with by the disciplinary committee. 3. CoEJ and/or the relevant hosting Jamaat will not be responsible/liable for any mental or physical trauma to participants and their belongings. 4. For volleyball and football, a team sheet entry system will be implemented (like MAMT 2015) where the team manager/coordinator will submit a team sheet - players entry form for each team registered. This will be at the time of registration for the relevant sport. 5. All teams will have to nominate a team manager/coordinator and they will be the only people to raise any queries with the organising committee. 6. Under no circumstances will a player be allowed to play for more than 1 team in the same sport. 7. Participants are allowed to enter as many sports as they wish, providing they do not overlap. 8. Any player representing a team for a particular age will not be allowed to play the same sport for a different age group i.e. Open and Age 34 and over. 9. Participant application forms include parental consent and disclaimers which now include consent to take photographs of under 16s for the purposes of producing sporting action photos. 36

37 10. The starting date of the tournament will be used to determine the age of the participants. Any player, entering the wrong age category will be disqualified. 11. A player representing his team in singles may also play doubles in the same sport and vice versa, but this will be deemed as participation in two sports. 12. All participants are expected to be present at time of registration; however it will be the team manager/coordinator who will be responsible for registration. 13. Teams arriving late on the day shall be penalised as per the rules in their respective sport. 14. Two small Jamaats will be able to merge and submit a team to participate in the tournament. No Jamaat will be allowed to borrow players from bigger Jamaats. 15. If smaller Jamaats do not enter their maximum number of adult football teams the larger Jamaats can fill the position under the original Jamaat's name, e.g. If Gloucester were only to enter one football team as they have been allocated two team slots Stanmore can then enter an extra team under the name of Gloucester; in which case Gloucester will be responsible for entry fee and extra Niyaz charges. 16. Any rules not covered by this document shall be at the discretion of the MAMT committee and their decision will be final and binding. 37

38 17. Any person using or visiting sports facilities which have been arranged by CoEJ & organising committee does so at their own risk. CoEJ & organising committee does not accept any liability for injury incurred by participating in any sporting activities, either on/off the pitch or whilst spectating. CoEJ & organising committee does not accept liability for any damage to or loss of personal belongings of either participants or spectators whether during the allocated period of play or where belongings are left in changing rooms or on site. 18. For tennis doubles only: Free to select a doubles partner from same or other Jamaat. 19. Sporting categories are defined by age and also by sport format, e.g., singles or doubles. It is not permitted for a player to play in two categories for the same sport. However entrance fees are calculated based on sports played and as singles and doubles are counted as two separate sport entries, the same player can play in, for example, Singles Premiership and Doubles Championship. 20. Participants will be only allowed to play one sport on each day except : Saturday: Can play Football in addition to Badminton, refer schedule above. Monday where participants will be allowed to play Carom in addition to Volleyball or Table Tennis. Monday where Premiership volleyball players will be able to participate in the snooker tournament as the Premiership volleyball tournament will resume on Monday at 2pm. 21. Finally, please note that the qualification criteria for participating is based on each individual Jamaat s sports body membership criteria as long as they are of the Shia Muslim faith. 38
