2 2017 Oregon Ocean Salmon Sport Seasons Statewide Regulations: Anglers fishing for salmon and all anglers fishing from boats with a salmon on board are limited to no more than 2 single point barbless hooks per line, and no more than one line per angler It is unlawful to fish for or take and retain any legal species while possessing on board any species not allowed to be taken in that area at that time Minimum lengths: Chinook = 24, coho = 16, steelhead = 20, no min. length for pink, chum, or sockeye salmon in ocean fishery Refer to the 2017 Oregon Sportfishing Regulations booklet for descriptions of special marine management areas including closed areas and additional restrictions Leadbetter Pt. Leadbetter Point, WA to Cape Falcon, OR: Selective Coho (fin-clipped) Season: Season: Open June 24 through August 22 the earlier of September 4 or 21,000 22,527 marked coho quota (Chinook guideline of 13,200) Bag Limit: All salmon. Two salmon per day, but no more than one Chinook, and all coho must have a healed adipose fin clip Notes: Open seven days per week. 3 2017 Pacific Halibut Sport Seasons COLUMBIA RIVER SUBAREA (Leadbetter Pt., WA, to Cape Falcon) Nearshore Season (Quota = 500 lbs.) Open Mondays-Wednesdays inside the 40-fathom line off of Oregon beginning May 8, 2017, through June 7, then all days through June 23 the earlier of quota or Sept. 30 All-Depth Season (Quota = 12,299 lbs.) Open May 4, 2017, Thursday-Sunday, every week through May 25 through the earlier of quota or Sept. 30 CENTRAL COAST SUBAREA (Cape Falcon to Humbug Mt.) Nearshore Season (Quota = 28,897 lbs.) Open June 4, seven days a week, inside the 40-fathom line, through July 30, and then September 3 through the earlier of the quota or Oct. 31 All-Depth Seasons (Combined Quota = 211,194 lbs.) Spring season (Quota = 151,912 lbs.): Open May 11-13, May 18-20, June 1-3, June 8-10, and and June Back-up dates if quota remains: June 29-July 1, July 13-15, and July Summer season (Quota = 60,203 lbs.): Open Aug Back-up dates, if quota remains, are every other Fri-Sat beginning Aug ; Closed as of September 17. The Stonewall Bank YRCA (about 15 miles west of Newport) is closed to Pacific halibut fishing. Anglers on vessels possessing Pacific halibut are prohibited from fishing in the Stonewall Bank YRCA, even when targeting legal species SOUTHERN OREGON SUBAREA (Humbug Mt. to OR/CA border) All-Depth Season (Quota = 10,039 lbs.) Open May 1, seven days per week, through the earlier of the quota or Oct. 31 Leadbetter Pt. Ilwaco, WA Astoria Cape Falcon Garibaldi Pacific City Depoe Bay Newport Florence Winchester Bay Charleston Bandon Port Orford Humbug Mt. Statewide Regulations: Daily bag limit: 1 Pacific halibut. Annual limit: 6. No length limit Gold Beach Pacific halibut possession limit: 1 daily limit at sea, 3 daily limits on land Fathom lines and conservation areas are defined by waypoints Brookings It is mandatory to have a descending device onboard when fishing for Pacific halibut, and to use it when releasing any rockfish species outside of 30 fathoms. Pacific halibut seasons are managed and enforced based on port of landing. Halibut may only be landed at ports located within areas currently open to halibut retention, regardless of area of catch. North of Humbug Mt.: During days open to all-depth halibut fishing, only salmon (as regulations allow), sablefish and Pacific cod (allowed only through 9/16), flatfish species, tuna, and most other offshore pelagic species may be retained or in possession when Pacific halibut are onboard the vessel. During days closed to all-depth halibut fishing, retention of groundfish (allowed only through 9/17) (as regulations allow; including other species of flatfish outside of the seasonal depth restriction) is permitted when Pacific halibut are onboard. South of Humbug Mt.: When angling for Pacific halibut outside of the 30 fathom curve, only salmon (as regulations allow), sablefish and Pacific cod (allowed only through 9/17), flatfish species, tuna, and most other offshore pelagic species may be retained or in possession when Pacific halibut are onboard the vessel. It is unlawful to fish for or take and retain any species while possessing onboard any species not allowed 3 to be taken in that area at the time

Retention of white shark, megamouth shark, oceanic whitetip shark, and basking shark is prohibited Daily Catch Limits Harvest Methods and Other Specifications: (May be taken by angling, hand, spear, bow and arrow, gaff hook, snag hook, and herring jigs*) 2 fish 22 inch minimum length for lingcod 7 fish in aggregate, of which no more than 6 may be black rockfish, only 1 may be a cabezon (during periods open to cabezon retention), and no more than 4 may be blue, deacon, China, copper, or quillback rockfish in aggregate. 25 fish in aggregate 15 fish in aggregate 25 lbs. in aggregate 25 fish in aggregate 16 inch minimum length for cabezon When Pacific halibut are onboard the fishing vessel, see Halibut Regulations for possession restrictions Any vessel fishing for, or possessing, bottomfish in the ocean must have a functional descending device onboard, and use it when releasing any rockfish outside of 30 fathoms. Unlawful to take or attempt to take Eulachon in inland waters including: bays, estuaries, rivers, and streams Refer to page 81 of the 2017 Oregon Sport Fishing Regulations for details on special allowances for use of chum and multiple rods for offshore pelagic species when fishing outside of 3 miles from shore while only possessing offshore pelagic species on board * Herring jigs may have any number of single point hooks with no greater than 3/8 gap.
