3 Club News Peter s Ponderings: Well, it s been almost one year at FCC for me. From an operations perspective, there have been many improvements under the direction of Mr. Spies. This first year, I ve spent most lunch and dinner shifts in the kitchen helping Chef Levi with kitchen management, food quality and consistency, plate appearance, working with a sense of urgency in meeting member s needs, getting hot food to the table, safe food handling and creating a culture of professionalism. You have a very talented Chef in Levi, and no one has more energy and enthusiasm. Why did I target the kitchen as the first venue to work to improve? I feel that service woes can be forgivable, but a dysfunctional kitchen will keep people away for long periods of time. Kiana, your Food and Beverage Supervisor, has done a wonderful job with her staff which has allowed me to spend time in the kitchen. Her service team consists of hard working students, including herself. These are good people eager to provide great service to the membership. Are you getting Ritz Carlton or 4-Diamond hotel service? No, but perhaps that isn t what FCC is all about. I get the sense that this membership expects friendly, well-spoken and presentable servers providing service with southern hospitality, efficiency, and a sense of urgency. By the way, when you say thank you to one of the servers, no problem is millennial for my pleasure. Bill, Jorden, Brandon, Theresa, Allen and Kristie are some of the best professionals I ve ever worked with and have made FCC stronger through their efforts. I ve known John Spies for many years and respect his no-nonsense and insightful approach to club management. I hope to learn all I can from him. The future is bright here at FCC and the membership are some of the coolest folks I ve ever met at a private club. See ya there! - Peter Donovan, Clubhouse Manager Meet Chef Levi Zindl! Chef Levi was born and raised in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He started working in the kitchen his senior year of high school and was hooked ever since. He eventually worked his way up the ladder working at places such as Gaston's White River Resort as well as Big Creek Golf & Country Club before he came to Fayetteville Country Club. When he is not working, he enjoys watching WWE, listening to music and making his own while playing guitar, and of course continually learning and practicing his passion which is the culinary arts. To increase your enjoyment of the food service, Levi is working on adding house baked bread, fresh pasta & sous vide cooking. We are very lucky to have Chef Levi as part of the FCC team! 4 Golf & Greens News Notes from the Pro: We welcome your entire family to the 2017 golf season! We have already had 2 great events to start the year. April 1 st was our 2 Person Best Ball Full Handicap event which featured 14 teams. Once a month we will have these Member events open to all golfing members, Men and Women. April 8 th featured our Fayetteville CC Golf Association Breakfast Scramble. This is one of our more popular events which was evident by the number of players. This year we had a Masters theme with a draft of players who made the cut and then enjoyed pimento cheese sandwiches and egg salad sandwiches at the end. Congratulations to our Champions: Jorden Rodman, Darren Swagerty, Tommy Tiller and Dennis Leatherby with a score of 56! A new feature to the golf course this season are our family tees. On our cart paths there will be 2 sets of markers, one gold and one blue, to be used for beginning golfers and more important, for our Juniors. A scorecard will be available for those wishing to place for the yardages. Speaking of Juniors, the applications for Junior Golf have gone out by and may also be picked up in the golf shop. We have two scheduled Junior Golf Camps, one in June and one in July. Hope to see your Juniors attend! This is for Members children, grand children, nieces and nephews. Also coming soon will be the invitation to our 13 th Annual Steven W. Arnold Memorial Member Guest. Event dates are June 9 th 10 th and 11 th. Reserve and make sure you have one of the 60 spots available. Entry form must be completed with Member name, guest name and official handicap to be accepted. Our FCC Women s Golf Association is in full swing and are always looking for new members. Beginners are welcome! We are looking to form a 5 or 9 Hole Women s Group to join the fun also. Couples Golf will begin the 4 th of May and will continue each Thursday evening through the season. All levels of players are encouraged to join the fun. Contact the Golf Shop and we will put you in touch with this years Host and Hostess. Good Food, Good Fun and Great Golf! Lets get this golf season off to a great start! Emilio has been with FCC since the summer of He is an extremely talented individual. Emilio is adept at operating nearly every piece of golf course maintenance equipment on the property. He is also skilled at the under appreciated, but important art of hand watering greens. This practice is critical to the survival of our bentgrass greens in the summer months. Emilio is our expert when it comes to any kind of construction on the golf course. He has been the critical cog for many tee, bunker, cart path and other renovations at FCC over the years. His eye for detail and patience for getting it right on these projects is unmatched. More recently, Emilio has been responsible for the rock edging along many of the cart paths. Last year, he completed his Crown Jewel, the native stone faced retaining wall on 16 pond, a feature that will be on display for years to come. We hope to complete more of these types of projects in the coming years. Emilio is married to Fidelina and has a son, Daniel and a daughter, Casandra. When he is not working, Emilio enjoys cooking, cleaning around the house and watching TV. We are very lucky to have a guy like Emilio here and we thank him for his tremendous service to FCC! Stacy Lewis AJGA Event Do you have some extra time? Do you want to be involved in a very unique tournament at your Club? If so, call me!! We host the Stacy Lewis AJGA Event June 19th-June 22nd and need our members to help. We are going to need around 30 people a day for 3 days. There will be all kinds of opportunities during the tournament. We will have live score keepers on the course, pace of play volunteers, clubhouse live scoring, and many other opportunities. So come one, come all to help us showcase FCC and our amazing members. You will also get to see some great golf. If you have any questions or want to sign up, just give me a call or a text.
