REPORTS

PRESIDENT S REPORT As President of Golf Manitoba, I am truly honoured and pleased to provide you with a report on behalf of the Board of Directors. To provide some context, Golf Manitoba s mission as the governing body of amateur golf in Manitoba and North West Ontario is to develop, promote, govern and service the game of golf for the benefit of all participants. Golf Manitoba is recognized by Sport Manitoba as the Provincial Sport Organization (PSO) for golf in the province and as such, Golf Manitoba works in alignment with Golf Canada. Strategically, Golf Canada as a member of the Canadian Olympic Committee has identified four core principles - Participation, Excellence, Capacity and Interaction as part of their strategic plan. It is these four core principles that our Board of Directors remain focused on as it relates to providing governance and oversight within our volunteer role on behalf of Golf Manitoba. As we celebrated our 100 th anniversary of amateur golf in Manitoba this past year, it has never been more evident that the game of golf and golfers in Canada have changed significantly since our inception and more so over the past couple of generations. Fifty or sixty years ago, 90% of Canadian golfers were members of private or semiprivate golf clubs whereas in today s world, approximately 85% of golfers in Canada have no affiliation with any individual golf club. That shift and many other factors has sent strong signals to Golf Canada and Golf Manitoba that a change is needed, both in how we deliver our programs and services as well as to identify strategies to engage all Canadian golfers towards becoming members of the provincial and national governing bodies. In that same 50 or 60 year timeframe, golf has seen what can only be described as unprecedented growth both in Canada and around the world. It has become paramount that Golf Manitoba and Golf Canada has the ability and resources to continue to deliver our programs and services to meet the needs and interests of both today s and tomorrow s golfers. To support that goal, the Board of Directors conducted a Planning Session in late 2014 and two key priorities were identified which included; 1) Financial stability of Golf Manitoba and 2) Building, marketing and growing golf in Manitoba. I am confident that the incoming Board of Directors will remain focused on our mandate and move these strategies forward in concert with our Mission Statement. As previously alluded to in the 2014 Annual Report, our projections were unfortunately correct which showed disappointing operating results for this fiscal year. Association membership continues to have a significant effect on our financial position, and our membership numbers showed a decline of approximately 14% in the current year. This trend is common in other Provinces but our decrease continues to be more significant than others. We remain cautiously optimistic that the new membership model currently being tested by Golf Canada and the provinces will strengthen our declining numbers, ultimately resulting in an increased revenue stream. Another key factor related to our operating results was a decrease in tournament entries which resulted in a negative revenue position for the previous fiscal year. The decline, although not overly significant will provide our Tournament Committee a chance for their annual review to identify new strategies to increase our tournament participation in

From Golf Manitoba s standpoint, the shared revenue generated through membership dues allows Golf Manitoba and Golf Canada to provide the programs and services needed to grow the game in our province for the benefit of all golfers. Programs and services that directly benefit from that shared revenue stream include the Golf in Schools and CN Future Links programs, regional, provincial, university and national teams as well as the annual Golf Fore the Cure fundraising event presented by Subaru. Within this funding envelope, Golf Manitoba also provides services such as rules and handicap seminars, course rating along with support for player development in the areas of coaching, training and national certification programs. One program that truly addresses the core principles of Golf Manitoba and Golf Canada is the Golf in Schools program which has been designed to introduce golf to kids in elementary and high schools. This program has seen tremendous growth to date with 125 elementary and 10 high schools in Manitoba currently registered for the program. As grass roots development programs, the CN Future Links and Golf in Schools programs had a total of 5995 children participate in Golf Manitoba continues to encourage our member clubs to adopt a local school and provide them with the Golf in Schools kit, an investment of $475 for an elementary school and $595 for a high school to help grow the game in Manitoba and North West Ontario. This is where your future club members and champions of tomorrow may be coming from. Golf Manitoba would not be able to deliver the programs and tournaments that we do without our dedicated volunteers who faithfully give their time and effort. On behalf of the Board of Directors and staff, thank you to all our volunteers for your help and congratulations to those receiving long service awards and to Barbara Hamill, our Distinguished Service Award recipient at the 2015 Awards Dinner. I would like to extend my personal congratulations to our 2015 Provincial Champions and all competitors who participated in Golf Manitoba events over the past year. Thank you for your support and for a complete listing of events, competitors and results, please refer to the tournament listings at the back of the annual report. I would like to extend my personal appreciation to the Golf Manitoba Board members for their hard work and dedication this past year and over the two years during my term as President. Special thanks to our Committee Chairs and committee members for your efforts towards ensuring a smooth running organization. The various committee reports are included in this annual report so please refer to them for details of their activities. I want to express my appreciation to the Golf Manitoba staff which includes Dave Comaskey, John Lamarche, Garth Goodbrandson, Lisa Andersen, Carol Muzychka and the summer interns, Evelyn Kampen and Megan Lamirande for their work and assistance this past year. Thank you to the membership of Golf Manitoba for allowing me to serve as your President for the past two years; it has truly been my honour and privilege. Respectfully Submitted, Kevin O Donovan President - 4 -

COURSE RATING & HANDICAP COMMITTEE REPORT The Course Rating Committee completed a total of 13 ratings during These included 2 ratings for a new Member club, 8 re-ratings and 3 for additional tees and other changes. To maintain valid course and slope ratings, golf courses are required to be re rated at least every 10 years or when significant changes are made. Women s ratings included Breezy Bend Country Club, Glen Lea Golf Club, Kildonan Park Golf Club, Links at the Lake, Pine Ridge Golf Club, Selkirk Golf & Country Club and Emerald Greens Golf Club (Thunder Bay). Men s ratings included Breezy Bend Country Club, Glen Lea Golf Club, Kildonan Park Golf Club, Links at the Lake, Pine Ridge Golf Club and Selkirk Golf & Country Club. Golf Manitoba continues to conduct Handicap Education Seminars for representatives from our member clubs. In 2015 a seminar was held at the Rossmere Country Club in May. The license agreement with the USGA requires that each club have at least one representative certified. These representatives will then be used as a resource for inquiries at the club level. If your club has not sent an individual, please do so and if you have already sent someone, we would encourage you to send others to be educated on the details of the handicap system. We would also encourage clubs to organize seminars specifically for your members and Golf Manitoba will come to your club to assist. Thank you to all our volunteers for their efforts throughout the year. Looking forward to another busy summer for all our men s and women s rating teams next year as well as continuing to educate Manitoba and North West Ontario golfers on the parameters of the handicap system. Respectfully Submitted, Brian Gilhuly Course Rating & Handicap Committee Chair - 5 -

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE REPORT As the 2015 golf season comes to a close, I hope that everyone has had a good year on the golf course and that your game improved over last year. As always Golf Manitoba s focus is to promote the advantages of membership to all member and non member clubs. Once again our role is to provide programs and services to our members. Just a few of the services we offer are: 1. Course and Slope Rating 2. Golf Canada Score Center 3. Rules of Golf Education 4. Player Development Initiatives 5. National Golf in Schools Program 6. Support to the Manitoba Golf Scholarship Fund & MB Golf Hall of Fame 7. Fund Raising Opportunities 8. Regional Coaching 9. Provincial Championships In 2015 in conjunction with our national partner Golf Canada, we began testing a new membership model with a limited number of small member clubs. In order to ensure the launch of the new model is done correctly, we will continue in 2016 with a limited number of clubs. When Golf Canada and Golf Manitoba are ready to roll out the new membership model to all clubs, there will be significant changes for the golf facilities and the golfers. Some of the changes that are currently being tested are: Short course and standard length facilities will have different rates for membership Clubs will have the opportunity to generate additional revenue if members choose to join Golf Manitoba and Golf Canada. Individual golfers will have a choice in what membership level they join eg: Bronze, Silver or Gold memberships. Golf Canada as well as Golf Manitoba wants to continue to work with the facilities and members to: Build a stronger connection with more golfers Connect to all golf facilities Improve our understanding and communications through better consumer insights on golfers and golfer behavior Ensure the future of golf Exciting times are coming for everyone involved in the golf community and we, Golf Manitoba, are looking forward it. Respectfully Submitted, Barry Hooke Membership Committee Chair - 6 -

OFFICIALS COMMITTEE REPORT It has once again been a long and busy schedule of tournaments and rules clinics this year. To the tournament staff on scene; Lisa and Evelyn, many thanks to you for your assistance, patience and professionalism throughout the year. To the office staff (Carol, Garth, John & Megan), thank you for your tireless work. Special thanks to Dave Comaskey for his leadership and help in the past year. To those of you who marked courses and prepared Supplementary Local Rules for our events, my sincere thanks. To my fellow committee members (Betty Grant, Lou Spado, Don MacDonald, and Jim Gosman), I say thank you and I hope that we will continue to work together in the same co-operative manner. We also continued rules clinics during the winter that were well attended by players and officials and potential officials. We took our winter clinics to the clubs (Wildewood, Rossmere, Southwood, and St. Charles) this past winter and saw an increase in attendance primarily due to local members from each club. These clinics will be offered again in the coming winter and spring. Golf Canada has a program for developing Rules officials. Levels 1 through 4 have been developed to make it easier for someone to learn more about the Rules of Golf or even become a rules official. The progression is as follows: 1 Levels One and Two are offered on-line through the Golf Canada website 2. Level 3 is conducted by the provincial golf associations. 3. Level 4 is the National clinic run by Golf Canada. Level 3 can be attempted by any volunteer to see how they measure up. If you really hope to pass the exam, it does take a good deal of preparation. It goes without saying that the strength of Golf Manitoba, aside from the staff members, is in the volunteers, who readily give up their time to ensure that the golfers of Manitoba and North West Ontario have a positive, pleasant experience participating in our competitions. Lastly, my thanks to those who participated in another successful season. Respectfully Submitted, Bob Fallis Officials Committee Chair - 7 -

PLAYER DEVELOPMENT REPORT 2015 Junior Girls Nassau League The Junior girls enjoyed another successful season competing in the A Division of the Nassau League. finishing the regular season in 2 nd place, the girls were narrowly defeated by St. Charles 5-4 in the semi-finals. After The Nassau League has done wonders for encouraging young girls to play competitive golf. The League gives the girls the opportunity to play with a partner and compete against many of the top female amateur golfers in Manitoba. The girls also get the opportunity to play many of Manitoba s top golf courses in a competitive environment. Thank you to Brenda Prystayko and Tammy Gibson who act as the non-playing captain for the team. Each year Golf Manitoba offers clinics at elementary schools at no charge with hopes of promoting the game to young children in a safe and fun environment. The Golf in Schools program has proven to be very popular with over 15,000 children participating in clinics the past three years. Player Development Intern Evelyn Kampen has overseen and conducted many of the clinics. The feedback from school has been nothing but positive. Evelyn has done an incredible job promoting golf to youngsters in Manitoba and North Western Ontario and her passion for kids is very evident. PGA of Canada Professional Glen Sirkis has also assisted Golf Manitoba with the delivery of programs such as Golf in Schools, City of Winnipeg camps and CN Future Links Clinic. Glen is a leader in Junior golf and Golf Manitoba is fortunate to have someone with Glen s passion and expertise delivering these programs. 16 TREASURER S REPORT The accompanying audited financial statements of Golf Manitoba Inc. for the year ended March 31, 2015 report a net deficit of $15,080 for the fiscal period (2014 net deficit $19,881). Annually, the board of directors and administrative team develop an operating budget using best estimates for the overall delivery of programs and services of Golf Manitoba within projected funding and revenue limits. The administrative team, with oversight from the board of directors, manage the operations of Golf Manitoba guided by the annual budget limits adopted. For the fiscal year ended March 31, 2015, the board of directors had budgeted for a surplus of $1,370 while final results, as noted above, show a net deficit of $15,080. The final results were affected by several contributing factors including, but not limited to: 1. Revenues total revenues for the year were under the budgeted amount by approximately $42,971. The major categories were: Description Actual Budget Over (Under) Variance Membership Dues $141,199 $160,617 ($19,418) Tournament Entrance Fees $113,298 $135,909 ($22,611) Camps and Clinic Fees $10,900 $16,600 ($5,700) Membership dues were estimated on the basis of the prior year membership numbers. However, actual membership declined in 2015 by approximately 12% or 1,423 members. One hundred and fifty (150) fewer golfers than budgeted participated in the provincial championships; which included the cancellation of the rural amateur, senior and junior championships due to low enrollment. The rural training squad and competition was not conducted as originally planned resulting in lower camp fees; this was offset by a corresponding decrease in player development expenditures. 2. Expenses total expenses for the year were under the budgeted amount by approximately $27,493. The major categories were: Description Actual Budget Over (Under) Variance Player Development Program $100,035 $105,012 ($4,977) Tournament Expenses $105,120 $118,102 ($12,902) The rural training squad and competition was not conducted as originally planned resulting in lower expenses in the player development program. The cancellation of the rural amateur, senior and junior championships due to low enrollment resulted in lower expenditures than budgeted. The decrease in membership (and consequently, the decrease in membership revenue) has been and continues to be a focus of the board of directors and is at the center of the board of directors strategic planning process. On balance, the amount of revenue received and/or generated directly and indirectly affects the programs and services provided to the golfing community by Golf Manitoba. Our administration staff exercised their best efforts to

ensure that the integrity of the program and/or service was maintained at the highest level possible within the available resources. I would like to thank our administration staff for the continued effort and diligence. Respectfully Submitted, Vince Mariani Treasurer

VOLUNTEER COMMITTEE REPORT On behalf of the Golf Manitoba Volunteer Committee, I am pleased to report on volunteer activities for the 2015 golf season, our 100 th Anniversary year! In recognition of our 100 th Anniversary this year, we can t say enough about our fabulous group of outstanding, dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers that have continued to sustain us as a viable organization over these many years! An outstanding achievement in itself! Our wonderful volunteers continue to fill the many critical roles necessary to allow Golf Manitoba to achieve its vision of providing quality, innovative and accessible programs and services to our members. Our volunteer roles include: - Board of Directors - Committee chairs and members - Rules officials - Course raters - Starters/scorers - Pace of play officials - Rules educators - Bingo - Fundraising - Host club activities Many of our volunteers can be seen over the summer months at our events, but many more are busy year round behind the scenes, volunteering their time to ensure the following year s events and services are planned and organized to meet the needs of Golf Manitoba s members. In honour of our 100th Anniversary this year we had past provincial champions volunteering their time to attend the events to speak about their experiences and present prizes. This is just another example of how volunteers add that special touch to our organization and our events. In 2015, we had a total of 76 volunteers undertake these various roles, with 73 of them being returning volunteers and 3 new volunteers. Collectively, our volunteers have logged over 2500 hours for Golf Manitoba! This is quite an accomplishment and clearly indicates the dedication and enthusiasm of our strong volunteer base. In 2015, we continued to build upon the goals established the previous year and I can report on the following accomplishments: Volunteer Handbook - We updated the Golf Manitoba Volunteer Handbook and distributed it to all our volunteers in April The handbook provides excellent information on everything you want to know about becoming a volunteer for Golf Manitoba. It is also available on the Volunteer section of our website. Distinguished Service Award (DSA) - We endeavored to raise the profile and awareness of the Distinguished Service Award (DSA) by promoting it at our Spring Information Meeting and all our major events. We created a new visual display poster of past recipients made available at the events and verbally shared information on the DSA during the event prize presentations. This annual award recognizes a volunteer who has gone above and beyond and displayed outstanding dedication. Nomination forms are also now available online

Volunteer Feedback - We want to continually communicate with our volunteers to ensure they are enjoying their volunteer experience. We added a comment section to our online Volunteer Log In section to allow volunteers to provide us with feedback anytime. As well, a volunteer survey was sent out late in the season to get feedback on volunteer experiences and how we can improve upon them. Results of the survey indicate the majority of our volunteers greatly enjoy their volunteer experience and want to give back to the game. The committee will be following up on some of the suggestions for improvement for next year. Volunteer Appreciation Day - One of the ways Golf Manitoba gives back to its volunteers is through the Volunteer Appreciation Day held at the end of each golf season to show our volunteers how much they are appreciated for their hard work and commitment. This year s event was held at Transcona Golf Club on September 2 where 49 volunteers attended for a fun-filled day of golf, dinner and camaraderie. We can t say enough about our volunteers! A huge thank you goes out to all volunteers who once again made this golf season a success with their warm smiles, helpful hands, boundless energy and unwavering commitment. Thank you! I would also like to thank the Volunteer Committee of Louse Daymond, Liliane Fargey, Jim Gosman, Michelle Lee, Tracy Rutledge, and Golf Manitoba staff Dave Comaskey, Carol Muzychka, Lisa Andersen, Garth Goodbrandson, John Lamarche, and interns Evelyn Kampen and Megan Lamirande for their continuing hard work and commitment. Respectfully Submitted, Tammy Gibson Volunteer Committee Chair

The golf day and dinner on August 17, 2015 was highlighted by: 18 holes stableford competition on a perfect day for golf on the historic South (Ross) North (MacKenzie) nines at St. Charles Country Club; Hickory clubs, circa 1885, mesh balls, circa early 1900 s, demonstration by Kelly Leonard, and for exclusive play on the first hole of the South (Ross) course; Stableford and closest to the hole winners were rewarded with prizes at the dinner; Approximately 100 players for golf and 145 attendees, including players, for dinner; A cocktail reception followed golf, with a Scottish bagpiper leading players and attendees to the dinner; Presentation during the dinner of the Tammy Gibson History of Golf in Manitoba power point and an enlightening power point on the golf in schools program lead by Garth Goodbrandson; Guest speaker at the dinner, Mr. George Macgregor, O.B.E., current Captain of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club, St. Andrews, Scotland, with insightful commentary on the role of the R & A throughout the golf world including Canada, the role of the Captain, and the present state of world golf. While the Raffle achieved very limited success, many thanks are due to member clubs for their assistance therein. The remaining events were highly successful, with participation by a number of member clubs and individual members throughout. Respectfully Submitted, Wayne Leslie 100 th Anniversary Committee Chair

MANITOBA GOLF SCHOLARSHIP FUND REPORT (A REGISTERED CHARITY) The Fund s mandate is to provide scholarships to young golfers for the advancement and furtherance of their education at a Canadian post-secondary educational institution through the receipt, investment, accumulation and disbursement of funds for that purpose. Scholarships are awarded to golfers who are members of golf clubs which are members of Golf Manitoba, and who submit applications which meet established criteria for academic achievement, community involvement, and golfing ability. The Manitoba Golf Scholarship Fund s policy is to build our capital through contributions received and to provide annual scholarships from the interest earned on the accumulated capital. The MGSF has, in recent times, been the beneficiary of a couple of special endowments, allowing special awards to be presented. The MGSF board is pleased to announce that the sponsor of the Dr. Dwight Parkinson Memorial Award and generous donor of $7000 per year for five consecutive years is Mr. David Hill Sr. of St. Charles Country Club. The board would like to thank Mr. David Hill for his generous contribution to the fund, and the significant effect it will have in supporting future young Manitobans in pursuing advanced education. In late 2014, the MGSF was fortunate to receive a generous donation of $5,000 from Mr. Greg Sawatsky, an ex- Manitoban, now a Calgary resident, who was educated at the University of Manitoba. He expressed his wish to support the efforts of the fund in assisting young Manitoba golfers to further their education in Canada. The Board is very grateful for his significant donation, which when added to the capital fund will yield benefits far into the future. The Fund has increased from the initial capital of $6,000 to a current balance exceeding $160,000. As the Fund s capital continues to grow in future years, with the generosity of golf club and individual donors, the number and value of individual scholarships may be increased. This year, the Board is pleased to award the third annual Dr. Dwight Parkinson Memorial Scholarship Award, in the amount of $3500, awarded annually to the secondary school graduate applicant with the highest scholastic achievement. In addition, a contribution of $3500 will be made annually to the capital fund, to help in building our capital base. Our generous donor s offer will run for five consecutive years through Award winners for 2015 were: - Dr. Dwight Parkinson Memorial Scholarship ($3500) Josh Martineau (Pine Ridge) - 1 st MGSF Scholarship Award ($1500) David Nelson (Southwood) - 2 nd MGSF Scholarship Award ($1500) Steven Young (St. Charles) Since 1986 the fund has awarded 168 scholarships worth a total of more than $173,500. The Manitoba Golf Scholarship Fund is managed by a 6 member volunteer Board of Directors, with administrative support provided by Golf Manitoba. Information on the scholarship fund can be found on Golf Manitoba s website at golfmanitoba.mb.ca. Respectfully Submitted, Dennis Langrell President

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR S REPORT The 2015 golf season was a historical occasion for Golf Manitoba. The Manitoba Golf Association was established on July 6, The Manitoba Ladies Golf Association was later created in 1922 and Golf Manitoba became the amalgamated entity April 1, The Golf Manitoba Board of Directors established a centenary committee in the winter of 2014 chaired by Wayne Leslie to develop a plan to recognize this milestone and the accomplishments of the storied association over the last 100 years. The plan included a fundraising raffle, a Golf in Schools Clinic in conjunction the PGA of Manitoba, recognition of our past champions at our major events as well as having past champions assist with prize presentations, commemorative items and a celebratory golf day sponsored by MNP with the current Captain of the Royal & Ancient (R&A) Golf Club of St Andrews, Mr. George Macgregor in attendance. The celebrations were very successful and marked the anniversary in a very positive manner. Membership in Golf Manitoba and Golf Canada continues to be a major focus for our Association as well as our national partner. Together, we have developed a new model and it is slowly being phased into effect. It is imperative to everyone involved that we correctly develop and implement the model which is the rationale for a slow launch. The plan for 2016 is to continue to garner feedback from those clubs and individuals who have been targeted and continue to modify the model. The 2017 season will see further expansion. The Western Canada Games took place this summer in northern Alberta. Golf Manitoba has dedicated significant resources in our Player Development programming to the training of our young athletes to prepare for Games experiences. In August 2016, golf will once again be a participating sport in the Powersmart Manitoba Summer Games which will be held in Steinbach. Golf Manitoba has plans under way to establish training squads in all eight regions of the province. Our goal is to prepare young golfers (15 yrs & younger) for the Games. Not only does this assist with their development and passion for the game, it also allows them to experience a golf event that maybe one day will be similar to their Olympic experience. Golf Manitoba is very fortunate to have corporate partners who assist the Association to deliver our programs. Longtime partner, Nott Autocorp, sponsors the Men s Amateur Championship. Accurate Dorwin joined the sponsorship family in 2015 by supporting the provincial junior championship and MNP was the title sponsor of the 100 th Anniversary Golf Tournament. We thank these corporate sponsors for their assistance and encourage you to support them when possible. Our Association values the commitment of our volunteers immensely. This year we recognized Barbara Hamill as the Distinguished Service Award recipient. We also acknowledged a number of other volunteers with milestones based on their years of commitment to Golf Manitoba. I would like to congratulate and thank all of our volunteers for their continued commitment to the Association. I would also like to thank outgoing President Kevin O Donovan for his leadership over the last two years. His commitment, dedication and passion for bettering the game in Manitoba and North West Ontario is very evident and appreciated. Good Golfing! Respectfully Submitted, Dave Comaskey Executive Director

GOLF MANITOBA INC. Notes to Financial Statements Year Ended March 31, DESCRIPTION OF ORGANIZATION Golf Manitoba Inc. (the organization ) is a non-profit organization established to develop, promote, govern and service the game of golf in Manitoba and North West Ontario for the benefit of all participants. The organization is exempt from taxation as a non-profit entity under Section 149(1) of the Income Tax Act. 2. SUMMARY OF SIGNIFICANT ACCOUNTING POLICIES The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Canadian accounting standards for not-forprofit organizations. Because a precise determination of many assets and liabilities is dependent upon future events, the preparation of financial statements for a period necessarily involves the use of estimates which have been made using careful judgement. The financial statements have, in management's opinion, been properly prepared within the reasonable limits of materiality and within the framework of the significant accounting policies summarized below: Financial instruments Financial instruments are recorded at fair value when acquired or issued. In subsequent periods, financial assets with actively traded markets are reported at fair value, with any unrealized gains and losses reported in income. All other financial instruments are reported at amortized cost, and tested for impairment at each reporting date. Transaction costs on the acquisition, sale, or issue of financial instruments are expensed when incurred. Investments Investments, which consist of guaranteed investment certificates with original maturities at date of purchase beyond three months, are carried at amortized cost. Capital assets Capital assets are stated at cost or deemed cost less accumulated amortization. Capital assets are amortized over their estimated useful lives on a straight-line basis at the following rates and methods: Computer software 25% straight-line method Office equipment 25% straight-line method Office furniture 10% straight-line method Tournament equipment 25% straight-line method The organization regularly reviews its capital assets to eliminate obsolete items. Government grants are treated as deferred capital contributions and amortized over the useful life of the underlying asset. Capital assets acquired during the year but not placed into use are not amortized until they are placed into use. Revenue recognition The organization follows the deferral method of accounting for contributions. Externally restricted contributions are recognized as revenue in the year in which the related expenses are recognized. Unrestricted contributions are recognized as revenue when received or receivable if the amount to be received can be reasonably estimated and collection is reasonably assured. (continues) 6

GOLF MANITOBA INC. Notes to Financial Statements Year Ended March 31, SUMMARY OF SIGNIFICANT ACCOUNTING POLICIES (continued) Donated services A large number of volunteers donate significant amounts of their time to program events and fundraising activities. No amount has been reflected in the financial statements for donated services since an objective basis is not available to measure the value of such services. Allocation of salaries and wages and office expenses The organization allocates salary and wage, and office expenses to three functional areas: administration, program management and tournament. The percentages are based upon estimates of staff time and resources spent for each area. These percentages are reviewed every year to determine whether there has been any significant shift which might warrant a change to the allocations. Salaries and wages have been allocated as follows: To administration expenses 33% 33% To program management expenses 37% 37% To tournament expenses 30% 30% Office expenses have been allocated as follows: To administration expenses 33% 33% To program management expenses 33% 33% To tournament expenses 34% 34% 3. FINANCIAL INSTRUMENTS The organization is exposed to various risks through its financial instruments and has a comprehensive risk management framework to monitor, evaluate and manage these risks. The following analysis provides information about the organization's risk exposure and concentration as of March 31, Credit risk Credit risk arises from the potential that a counter party will fail to perform its obligations. The organization is exposed to credit risk from funders, members and users. Due to the nature of the organization and its history with contributors, management assesses the credit risk as low. Interest rate risk Interest rate risk is the risk that the value of a financial instrument might be adversely affected by a change in the interest rates. In seeking to minimize the risks from interest rate fluctuations, the organization manages exposure through its normal operating and financing activities. The organization is exposed to interest rate risk primarily through its investments and banking agreements. 7
