3 Comments made by the great Jack Nicklaus: I ve always been a traditionalist, but I ve realised that in order to save the game, we need to think outside the box We need to build small golf courses, make golf holes (and even entire courses) shorter, introduce more 6 and 12 hole golf courses and even increase the size of the cup to 8 to speed up play * I ve got 22 grandkids and they play less than I do, and that s not very much. Other sports are grabbing their attention. We need to introduce our kids to the game of golf.

16 The Par 3 Pitch & Putt short course is an invaluable asset to golf as a whole in terms of grass roots development and a feeder system into the game. It is also a sport in it s own right...eg: T/20 Cricket. With every sport or vocation in life...it takes time to learn and develop. Eg: One does not become an F1 driver if they have not learnt to drive a car or perhaps even start off at an early age driving Go-Karts. A quote from an anonymous jealous doctor... It takes longer to learn to be a good golfer than it does to become a good surgeon. But, you don t get to ride around in a cart, drink beer, eat hot dogs and ogle at the scantily dressed sponsor girls all day if you are performing brain surgery. *

17 Our Current Experience of being a feeder system into the regulation golf game. Since 1998 our junior golf events organised and co-hosted by Golf Victoria, Stuart Appleby Junior golf and Women s golf have produced some fine young golfers who started playing at our Pitch and Putt golf course and have gone on to represent : Junior State Team, Senior State Team, Australian Team (10 nations cup), The professional Heritage classic event and are training to be as well as turned Pro. * These are some of the names that will be recognised in the not too distant future: Geoffrey Drakeford, Matias Sanchez, Bianca Ling, DJ Loypur, Lucas Herbert, Montana Strauss, Garry Sluce, Frazer Droop, Karl Vilips and Grant Williams (pro) *

Europe has experienced an incredible growth in this form of the game with Spain alone accounting for 17 new courses in the last three years. * ASIA: Where the greatest opportunity exists given their avid interest, minimal land space and mass markets that will in a matter of time dominate the world scene. Australia should be focused on the benefits from this part of the world. *
