13 PACE OF PLAY PLEASE AVOID SLOW PLAY! KEEP PACE BE READY With group ahead When it s your turn. CART DRIVER When safe, leave passenger with needed clubs at his ball, then go to yours. HOLE OUT Avoid marking ball if possible. CLEAR GREEN Mark scores on next tee. Please follow suggestions below: The Men s 9 - Hole Golf Club is concerned about slow play. Be aware of the group in front of you. Look ahead, not behind. Think about your next shot as you drive to your ball. Take several clubs with you when you walk to your ball - the one you think you will use, plus others you might use. Drive the cart as a team. While one player walks to his ball, the other player drives up the cart path opposite his ball. Do not wait for a player to return to the cart before proceeding to the next ball. In stroke play, if safe and not interfering, playing out of turn is permissible. The first player whose ball is on the green, should drive the cart to the appropriate position behind or beside the green. Study your line of putt while others are preparing to putt. Do not wait until it is your turn. Leave the green and immediately drive to the next tee. Then put your clubs away and take out the club you will use next. Record scores at the next tee, not greenside. 13

14 ETIQUETTE FOR COMMENCING A MATCH 1. Plan on arriving at starter desk at least fifteen (15) minutes before starting time. 2. As your time draws near, remain close to the first tee. 3. Before hitting your shot, compare your ball with opponents to be sure you will be able to identify it. 4. Delay your tee shot until those ahead of you have played their second shot and are well out of range. 5. When your partner or opponent is hitting a tee shot, stand facing them. On subsequent shots you should stand in line with the person hitting the ball. Avoid standing directly behind the person hitting a ball. 6. Remain quiet and motionless while your partner or opponent is addressing the ball. 7. As you hit the ball, watch it carefully until it stops rolling and then spot the position of the ball in relation to some permanent object on the course. FOR THE FAIRWAY 1. To avoid delaying the game, decide on which club to use before play. 2. Allow the players behind you to play through if your group is playing slowly or you are hunting for a lost ball. 3. When your ball lands in a sand trap, enter and leave from the lowest side. After leaving the bunker, you should remove your footprints and the club impressions by raking the area with a rake, located near the trap. Leave rake in trap. 4. Assist your partner and your opponents in spotting and searching for their balls. Keep delay to a minimum. 5. Retrieve any divot you take and press it firmly into it s original place. 6. Give a warning of fore if you think your ball may strike someone. 7. Wait until the players in front of you have left the green before hitting your approach shot. FOR THE PUTTING GREEN 1. When you approach the green to putt, place your golf cart and bag off the green, toward the next teeing ground. 2. Remove any mark by your ball on the green by gently lifting the area with a golf tee and pressing the turf back into place. 3. Have a coin or ball marker available in order to mark the location of your ball upon request. Place the marker on the side farthest from the cup. 4. Be prepared to assist others in removing and replacing the flagstick. If your ball is nearest the hole, you should hold the flagstick. Place the flagstick on the ground beyond the putting green. 5. Avoid stepping or standing on your opponent s putting line. If your opponent is in the process of putting, do not let your shadow fall across his putting line. 6. Walk carefully on the green to avoid damaging the putting surface with the spikes or heels of your shoes. 7. When your ball lands on the wrong green, lift it and drop the ball well off the green to prevent damage to the green and to the area immediately surrounding the green. 8. As soon as you have holed out, retrieve your ball from the cup. 9. After all have holed out, replace the flagstick and leave the green before recording your scores. 14
