If all goes as planned, this year will see the largest contingent of ALSRI players in the tournament. The ALSRI oard hopes that all who attend have a great time. ring back some hardware! We also extend our wishes for another well run, successful event (as always) by our East Coast friends. Golfnut Golfnut is back after an extended vacation of, what else, golfing. Actually, the Nut is still in recovery mode from the IRS Friends and Family - West tournament that was held in June at the beautiful Primm Valley resort. Every year the tournament seems to get better, and this year was no exception. Once again, the ALSRI golf club had a tremendous two day tournament in the beautiful setting of the Desert & Lakes golf courses. Starting with the Welcome Reception held Thursday evening through the awards ceremony Saturday night at the Primm Valley Hotel Convention Center s Main allroom, the tournament was first class. This year virtually every participant attended the Welcome reception..and several left their golf games at the reception before retiring to their respective rooms for the evening. Golfnut had enough to drink at the reception that I m surprised my identity was not revealed.hey, I d quit drinking but I m no quitter, so I tried to get Norman Light, the reigning Primm champion, intoxicated enough so that someone else would have a chance to win. Not only did that not work, Norman s brother, Kelly, also won this year.golfnut has always envied the swings of George and Steve Nichols. Silky smooth and full of birdies, those two have nothing on Primm s biggest winner, Kathy Nichols. After hitting the Casino machines for two sizeable jackpots, I m pretty sure there is one name already on the signup sheet for next year s Primm tournament. (Hey Kathy, did anyone tell you that most of us work for the IRS?). A few ALSRI members served as volunteers at the recent Office Depot LPGA event at Trump National Golf Course. While most had glowing remarks about the course and the views of the ocean, nothing compared to the pictures taken by Howard Wu of the professional golfers, especially Grace Park. Yes, we love the LPGA!!! As we near the end of the year, it s time for those golfers that have not yet qualified for the year end Tournament of Champions to put forth that final effort needed to get into the field. Wilson is the final tournament in 2005 that will qualify members for the club championship, which will be held December 9th at Los Serranos-North Golf Course. You must finish in the top three in an ALSRI sponsored tournament, and be a club member, to qualify to play for the club championship. Golfnut has qualified, have you? ALSRI oard members Larry Taylor and Tim aldwin recently attended a golf clinic offering an exclusive playing lesson with Senior PGA Tour golfer Tom Watson at the Angeles National Golf Course. It was noted that the clinic provided an excellent example of how a tour player approaches the game, and how well tour players can hit the ball. Haven t seen Dennis Papercut Murakami on the links lately. Since his selection into Management, Dennis has been concentrating more on the job than on his short game. I wonder, did he just get tired of losing all those eer bets?...the Survivor tournament is down to the Final Four, and it appears that there may be a case of elder abuse in the Finals. Don What, me worry? Toda and Richer Pops Dubois will go against Victor Vannukul and Howard Hidalgo Wu, to see who will be the named the Survivor winner next month at Rancho Vista golf course in Palmdale..Fairways & Greens Golfnut.
