Roll was taken by Nancy Schaefer. Report of the President Mark Labiak Mark said that the change in date for today s meeting caused a conflict on his schedule. He asked the Board for a hard stop time of 7:00 pm for tonight s meeting. (Action Item) Motion for approval of the March 8, 2018 Board of Directors Meeting minutes. Motion was made to approve, seconded, and vote passed unanimously. (Action Item) Request was made for Board Members signatures for e-signatures on letters from Board to sponsors, host sites, etc. Nancy Schaefer collected these from all Board Members present at the meeting. April Association News Overview o WE ARE GOLF reports a 22% increase in golf s U.S. Economic Impact at National Golf Day since o Three (3) new PGA of America sponsors names: Charles Schwab Official Wealth Management Firm of the PGA of America and PGA Championship Michelob Ultra Official beer sponsor of the Ryder Cup and PGA Championship Jim Beam Black Official bourbon of the PGA of America and PGA Championship Although they were not present, Mark told the Board there are new 3 interns who have joined the Section staff for the 2018 season o Andres Balcazar from Evanston, IL Event Operations Intern Just graduated from the University of Illinois, Recreation Sports and Tourism Bachelor s Degree o Olivia Ryan from Woodbury, CT Event Operations Intern Attends Indiana University and will graduate in 2019 with a degree in Sports Marketing and Management

2 o Dana Gattone from Addison, IL Marketing and Communications Intern Just graduated from University of Illinois, Bachelor of Arts in Communications Degree Dana played 4 years on the women s golf team Mark congratulated Kathy Kreft on the Lincoln Motors $30,000 Platinum partnership. This meets the short term goal the Board set during Business Planning to source a non-industry partner at the Platinum level. Kathy added that part of the contract is that 10 private facilities will host Lincoln Motors as a sponsor. She currently has 3 facilities on board and is still in need of 7 more private facilities. Mark and Carrie added that if we had more than 7 facilities step up, that would be great! Mark made the recommendation that the June Board of Directors Conference Call (date TBD) be removed from the calendar due to the change in the Special Awards process. He recommended the call be moved to Thursday, August 16 th (time TBD) for staff-driven reports on progress to the Business Plan. (The June call was planned for Special Awards slate ratification.) Mark said the Board terms of Patrick Lynch, Hans Larson, and Mike Picciano were expiring. Petitions are out for Chris Oehlerking and Rick Silva for the Board and Alex Mendez for Secretary. He asked that Patrick, Hans, and Mike make their thoughts/future plans regarding the Board known to him and Carrie so as to know how to move forward. Report of the Vice-President/Treasurer Jim Miller Unreconciled financials to budget fy 2017/2018 o G&A Was able to lower contract labor due to Foundation allocation actuals; no office space modifications in 2017/2018 no draw from investment, no expense o Special Awards - Revenue lower than budgeted - $11,000/Vegas team x 5 teams (expense proportional) o Tournaments expense exceeds budgeted additional Illinois Open expenses (F&B at The Glen Club), Radix Cup & Royal Cup expenses, Pro-President, Senior Masters (based on participation). Approximately $25,000 was mis-budgeted per web.com contract with the Tour, which accounts for variance itself. As reported last month, did not budget for web.com Tour expense as 2016 had not been invoiced/paid at the time of doing the 2017 budget. Membership Revenue lower than budget Reflected membership dues less Member Assistance Program expense (Foundation allocation) instead of dues in revenue and fee in expense. Board retreat expense unbudgeted - $7,000, Annual Meeting expense - $4,000 over budget due to format change Merrill Lynch Investment statement recommended changes to portfolio made in March, account down $3k since December 2017 (1%) Financial audit update fy2016/2017 this audit should be complete by end of next week, audited financials will be ed to Board. Financial audit fy2017/2018 The audit for the fy just ended March 31, 2018 will begin immediately after closing out fy goal completion by August 1, 2018 KPMG/PGA of America Operational Audit Carrie to review in her report Report of the Secretary Nick Papadakes MSR cycle is coming to an end. Nick sent out s to 137 members who have not yet fulfilled their MSR requirements. He has had positive feedback thanking him for the reminder. National Award Nominees Nick reported five (5) IPGA members made it to the Finals on the National Level. Three (3) were nominated for Merchandiser of the Year Award, one (1) for the Horton Smith Award, and one (1) for the Bill Strausbaugh Award.

3 Committee Reports Sponsorship Dennis Johnsen and Mark Krizic o Dennis asked if there were guidelines on the national level for the Patron Program and the Sponsor Program. After some discussion as to the fairness of the programs, Mark Labiak recommended a Task Force be formed to look into this. He recommended the Task Force consist of Dennis, Carrie, one of the independent contractors on the Board (Jay, Hank, or Bob), a voice from the Senior Patrons, and himself. Tournaments Steve Orrick o Cell Phone Policy Language Clarification Steve reported an official clarification: the IPGA will be sticking to stroke penalties, as suggested by the USGA, and not fines for breach of the policy. Brad elaborated more on examples of what would be acceptable use of a cell phone and what might constitute a breach of the policy. o Forward Tees for Seniors in Pro-Pro, Pro-Special, and Pro-Am Events Steve said this topic is only at an introductory level at this time. Briefly, after a formal request from a member, the committee considered changing the policy at some of our events to include an additional forward tee for senior players. New options were briefly discussed at their meeting. However, it was determined that the timing of the request and the potential changes were too close to the 2018 season and something to consider in the off season. The committee is interested in analyzing the entire structure of these events. Career Services Ian Grant o Ian reported that Jason Boaz has offered to report all assistant jobs to the Section on a monthly basis. We are unable to post Career Links jobs at this time. o The What Employers Want Powerpoint presentation should go out from Section leadership towards the end of summer to assist any job seekers. o Bob Cerone is going to produce a brief quarterly memo listing any issues that all professionals in leadership roles should know. Launch date for first memo is July 1, Education Hans Larson o MSR Update as of 5/12/ % of membership have met requirements o The first of three (3) Assistants Committee Educational events will take place on Monday, June 4 th at the IPGA Partner Power of the Golf Ball Northbrook facility. Title of the event is Special Award Winners Roundtable #1. Registration to begin the week of May 14 th. o The Assistants Committee will develop two (2) additional educational opportunities, one (1) in July and one (1) in September, highlighting Special Award winners as presenters. o Todd Sones will again offer the annual teaching and mentor series. Sessions will take place on three (3) Tuesday evenings in May at White Deer Run in Vernon Hills. Each session is eligible for two (2) PGA required MSR credits. o The Teaching and Coaching Summit is scheduled for Tuesday, December 4, Potential location is Oak Brook Hills Resort. Event sponsors for 2018 include PING and True Spec Golf. Event promotion to begin in June. Section staff will distribute a Save the Date followed by individual speaker announcements. PR & Communications Mike Picciano o Mike credited Palmer Moody for all he is doing with keeping the IPGA in the social media and how, when given a lead, he runs with it. o Mike briefly touched on some of the places where they are instrumental in keeping IPGA members highlighted including The Lesson Tee segment on The Scorecard golf talk radio show (670AM), The Golf360 TV program, and a weekly tips feature to run in print and online in the The Daily Herald. o Carrie will send an to the Board and Staff with a copy of the Minutes from the PR & Communications April 12 th meeting.

4 Assistants Nick Cuca o Nick was unable to attend tonight s meeting. His report, along with all other documents for tonight s meeting, was distributed to the Board prior to the meeting via Carrie s . Player Development Patrick Lynch o In Patrick s absence, Catherine Wagner reported the PGA Jr. League and Drive, Chip, and Putt have been moved under the Foundation umbrella. She also gave a report on the number of participants already signed up for DCP. Opens & Pro Ams Curtis Malm o Committee has not met from the last Board Meeting. Special Awards Jim Opp o Jim reported there has been a change in the timeline for all the IPGA Special Awards. Carrie said she would the Board and Staff a copy of the timeline submitted by Jim as it wasn t able to be included in the packet of documents ed to everyone prior to this meeting. Central Illinois PGA Chapter Clay Stevens o No Report Report of the Executive Director Carrie Williams Administration/PGA of America o Continuing to close out fye The budget should be uploaded into the PGA system by end of next week and then we can start reporting to it. o Tax filings extensions filed, waiting for the audited financials to be completed. o Audit Process - Audit Process Section, through its Executive Director and with the review and approval of its Board of Directors, will review and provide a comprehensive written response to the Report that sets forth Section s responses and recommendations with respect to each of the findings in the Report, including, but not limited to, Section s proposed remediation of any findings in the Report, if any. Section s written response will be delivered to PGA no later than thirty (30) days following Section s receipt of the Report and communicate w PGA monthly. Foundation o Tim O Neal, David Glod, Hans Larson, and Chris Gumbach are the new officers. o Bylaws are being revised with the assistance from an attorney on the Foundation Board. o Budget approved earlier this month approved the moving of the PGA Jr. League and DCP under the Foundation umbrella. o Operational Audit will call for an annual Management Agreement between the Section and the Foundation. o Working with a separate dealer on a donation/trade of the Sprinter Van BMW and other models dealer anticipating change of PGA to BMW in o A revamped license plate promotion is coming this season. o HOF changes Birth date prior to 1939, Governors can vote through for ratification by Selection Committee. o Scholarships Don Pieper Scholarship, along with other Foundation Scholarship Awards, are available. o BFC and HOF website updates are ongoing. o Meyer-Brown-Miller Invitational is scheduled for October 21-23, 2018 in Pinehurst. Currently working to execute 2019 and 2020 contracts. PGA Championship Tickets are here and available if anyone is interested. Tournaments Olympia Fields cannot host the Section Championship in Sites are being solicited by staff.

5 Opens/Pro Ams Caesar s contracted executed for 2019 and 2020 Sponsorship o Need help with Lincoln Motors activation o Kathy and Palmer are working with Glenview/Deerfield Chamber of Commerce. o Constellation Efficiency Made Easy Homesite o Josh was in yesterday. We should have plan recommendations in about a week for our review. He alluded to The Glen Club and IPGA offices in current IPGA space and opening the Glen Club office space for Revenue Creation. Will review with officers once we have recommendations to determine next steps. Section credit card Working toward an August 24 th launch date. If not, then October 26 th. Old Business: none New Business Dennis Johnson asked if there was any way video conferencing could be considered and be in place for the August conference call meeting.
